The Red Maple was originally owned and operated by the Trauth Family, a German-American family of restaurateurs spanning 100 years in Gretna. And what began in 1963 continues to this day, holding to its German roots through its rustic Alpine lodge decor, extensive beer selection and annual Oktoberfest celebration. In fact, it was a red maple tree in the side yard that inspired the name of the bar – The Red Maple – with the restaurant being added in 1965.

Now for over 50 years, The Red Maple has been the rendezvous spot for West Bank movers and shakers known for its Prime cut steaks, New Orleans favorites and fresh Louisiana seafood.

Today, under the passionate guidance of Proprietor Brent Trauth and his sister, Carroll Gales, The Red Maple continues to deliver on its reputation for delicious food, exceptional service and rich Louisiana history. A rich and storied past that is only upstaged by the dining experience itself.

Drinks and dinner were excellent and our server Kelly was great; we're never in a hurry and she just picked up on our pace. The Catfish Pecan was excellent and the crab claw appetizer is a winner.

We were looking for a place to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. Landed on red maple for the attractive menu. So we had mentioned it was our anniversary and our server wished us a happy anniversary and that was sweet. Let’s talk about our server Bradley. He was fantabulous!! I proposed before appetizers came out, she said yes, and Bradley took us outside to take pics. He made sure the food came out ready after the pics. He went above and beyond and enhanced our night with his amazing service. The food was amazing, boudin eggrolls, 18 oz perfectly cooked steak, green beans, asparagus and the most delicious bread pudding with coffee. We will always be grateful to the The Red Maple Restaurant! 😊 Thank you💍😥❤️🥳

The service is terrible. They may as well not service alcohol because you will never get your drink! Also totally robbing customers by charging a 3.5 percent fee for credit cards which is higher than any restaurant I’ve seen; the credit card companies don’t charge the restaurants that high therefore they just trying to rip people off!!!

For starters, I honestly wasn't expecting much in a $37 steak dinner. But, I must say that I was honestly blown away. Our steaks were juicy and melted in our mouths. The shrimp appetizer was awesome as well. The only thing I didn't care for was the salad. It was huge and was just a basic salad. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed our little date night!😘

For the quality of food, the prices were exorbitant. We could have gone to a much nicer restaurant. Our waiter took 45 minutes to take our food order, and that wasn’t until we had to ask for another server to find him.
