The Rise Eatery
Guests reap the rewards of executive chef Dan Leung’s limitless imagination and 10-plus years of cooking experience. Seasonally inspired menu items reflect and celebrate the ethnic diversity of Vancouver. We’re one of the few, if not only, places in town where Germany greets South Korea, China meets Peru, and Scotland welcomes Vietnam with open arms on a plate. Crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and prepared in a way that’s meant to be shared, our menu encourages an exploration of global tastes, techniques, and cultures. Equally innovative items are served at lunch in sets and creative brunch items are served on Saturdays & Sundays. Dining experiences in our modern, light-filled room are fun without falling lax, sophisticated without feeling stuffy. Attentive service is also our top priority.
Brunch: Saturday - Sunday, 10:00am - 3:00pm
Happy Hour: Daily, 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Dinner: Tuesday - Sunday: 5:00pm - Late
Rise and shine! Checked out the Congee under the something different section after learning there was no brunch feature. We had made reservations but a large group walked in before us so our orders took awhile longer. The saltiness from the creamy poached egg yolk played off the crunchy texture from fried Chinese doughnut and nutty red quinoa. There’s no rice in this congee but plenty of chicken and scallion in this creative dish. It certainly draws attention from other patrons. Enjoyed the change-up from the standard brunch menu and their smoked bacon Benny was also well done. Kind of like going to Medina without the long lineups.
Second time here, but new menu items and will definitely be back! We love the food and the creative cocktails.
My new favourite restaurant. Very creative dishes. A true dining experience.
Great place before a play.
dining at the rise was a positive experience
the servers are warm and well-informed--encouraging you to experiment and order just what you want
food was innovative and delicious
cauliflower appetizer was too spicy--did not feel adequately warned
loved the affogato dessert!
We went for brunch. They did not have the option to have a half portion of eggs benny. When we asked if they could split it on to two plates they said no, but we can bring you a plate.
When the dishes arrived they were underwhelming compared to the description offered. We ordered the hollandaise on the side and it was cold.
We have season tickets to the Arts Club and agreed that we wouldn’t return to this restaurant.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and soft lighting, the service was excellent, the food was very good.
Shared a few plates. Interesting menu. Not the usual fare. Delicious.
It was loud with hard surfaces. Loved the fusion cuisine. Will definitely go back to try other dishes.
Service could’ve have been friendlier. I asked to see the lunch and dinner menus and was told to go outside to look at the menus posted on the window!
Overall a lovely little place seems to have a good array of cocktails but we stuck to wine. Our server was outstanding and very attentive to us, even offering us a better table when one became available suddenly. They were also highly accommodating of and knowledgeable about celiac disease and careful to specify if something could or could not be adjusted. I would definitely recommend it to people with gluten issues for that very reason. Our food was average, but overall I would go there again and try different dishes.
A friend and I went for the first time with no idea what The Rise had in store. It was the perfect spot to catch up as it wasn't too loud, and our server (who was new) did not rush us out the door. I was impressed with the wine and spirits which have a strong local bent. As well, the food was quite good, and the portions were generous (too much for the two of us, but they went home with my friend). It turns out my friend knows the owner, so they provided us with dessert which was also delicious. We'll be back!
Good, solid cooking with little touches and additions that take it out of the ordinary.
Wonderful fusion creation!
First visit - was fantastic. Our lunch was excellent - all the neighbouring tables food also looked great.
Beautiful place and very friendly staff. Love the furniture and a place to hang coats! We came when it just opened on a Saturday morning and it was quiet but it got busy after half an hour. The food was great: cooked and presented with imagination. I want to go back for a meal in the evening before or after theate or actually, anytime. Thank you for this great new place and good luck for a long life because I know it is a difficult fusiness.
Great food, talented chef, awesome staff, in a chill atmosphere!
Really good food, and even the small plates were generously portioned. Definitely go with a group as you will want to order multiple dishes and share. It was slow when I went (we were one of three tables) but I don't know why there weren't more people there. The food is delicious as are the cocktails. I felt our waiter was a touch disingenuous, but whatever, the fried chicken small plate made up for that. If you are looking for unique dishes that are very, very tasty, go here.
my only issue was there wasn't much for vegans. Our waiter did accommodate us the best he can but it would be nice to have more options
Outstanding food and service. Very creative cuisine options.
I love this place. The food is great, nice patio and delicious cocktails. The serving staff is always friendly and welcoming.
Creative, delicious food. Great variety of different dishes on the menu, each one uniquely flavourful and delicious. Exceeded my expectations!
Good service from wait staff, but food, patio space and wait time for food was just ok. May go back for drinks and dinner inside - the room looked stylish and comfortable compared to the unremarkable (but nicely quiet) patio space.
A neighbourhood gem when you don't want to head into the melee of downtown. A hidden patio in the heart of South Granville that always has a table ready for you. A favourite on this side of the bridge that offers creative food with great value. A great place for everyday casual to special occasion gatherings.
I went there for the wheel of nosh. It's truly photogenic, but the food is poor overall. The texture and taste of the food are poor. I couldn't even finish the food and had no desire to take it home, which is not what I usually do. I understand it's fusion, but the combinations honestly aren't suitable.
fabulous service, delectable food, will definitely return
With Chef Dan and his food continuing to inspire and Wanda overseeing front of house The Rise Eatery is a MUST GO!!
Amazing flavours, textures and surprises all served up with care and attention....it is mr favourite Vancouver dining experience!!
We had a great first experience at The Rise Eatery for dinner. Service was personal and lovely, even as the restaurant got busy. The menu is eclectic and interesting, and good value for the quality of the ingredients used. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Amazing! There is some updates on the menu, the server explained it very well! I read reviews before said not necessarily try the desert. But I enjoyed every single dish. Ambiance is nice and cozy
Very beautiful restaurant, fantastic attention to details. The servers were some of the nicest people I've ever met; they definitely made the experience better than what it already was. Food was creative, thoughtful and delicious.
Our group of 4 love the sharing plates. It made for a really fun and interactive after theatre matinee early dinner.
Amazing experience here as always. The food is always on point and comes with a twist. A lot of details that other places just don't do. I really like the ambiance of the restaurant. The space feels big, laid back and makes you want to stay long. I wish this place would get more publication!
The food flavours we're really good. We arrived after a big party had been seated so the food took longer than usual to come out but the server let us know in advance so that was okay as we were in good company. One of the first dishes we were served (shrimp dish) was one we didn't even order but we just let it go since it was already cooked and because we waited so long for food already. It wasn't something we would've ordered. We ordered a lot of dishes because we like variety so of course we had plenty left over to pack home. I was very disappointed with the service when packing our food. They basically dumped all our left over dishes together into same boxes so when we got home it was a big mishmash of food in a box. It basically ruined all the individual flavours of each dish. It's important not only to give a good experience in restaurant but also to leave a lasting experience when your guests leave. Just felt careless on their part. There were also a couple of other things that were overlooked by the service but overall food was good just service quality could improve.
Love the food and service. Very accommodating even to my picky eating son. Great place for a date as well. I have been there a few times now, still love it. Thanks, The Rise Eatery team.
Have to say that overall I was somewhat disappointed. I looked at menu online before I booked and one of the reasons I chose to book here was because they had ‘chilaquiles’ on their menu. This authentic Mexican breakfast dish is very hard to find. Sadly when I ordered it I was told that it was not available. I was very disappointed.
The ambience was great, as was the decor. A great spot for Father’s Day brunch with my family. I wish the service was on par. Despite being Father’s Day, it really wasn’t that busy however our food took over 35 mins to get to us from time that we ordered. In fact we had to ask about it as we were frustrated with the wait.
Overall I would probably give it another try to see if the next experience was different. The free dessert (on next visit) for the Dads in our party was a nice touch.
Awesome food and place. I would highly recommend ir
Pleasantly surprised by the inventive brunch menu!
Their ramen is a must try ! The noodles are chewy and the eggs are nicely done .
Good. Interesting menu
