The Salt Line, the popular DC homage to New England’s iconic fish and oyster houses, brings a second location to Arlington’s burgeoning Ballston neighborhood. Just one year in, The Salt Line has already established itself as one of the top dining spots in Northern Virginia. Executive Chef Matt Singer is leading the kitchen team in partnership with award winning Long Shot Hospitality Chef/Partner Kyle Bailey. The Salt Line is where "New England meets the Chesapeake" so guests can expect the same New England classics and renowned raw bar found at the original location, along with lots of new chef driven fish and seafood entrees, house-made pastas, exciting selections of crudos, and of course the best lobster rolls around.

In addition to dining, the welcoming year round outdoor bar (tented in the winter) has also become a favorite neighborhood gathering spot and is the perfect place to enjoy The Salt Line's signature beverage program and grab what many say is the best burger in town.

Service was very friendly and prompt. Avoid the lobster roll! Way overpriced. Burgers and Fish sandwiches were great.

The lobster roll served was dry and rubbery meat. The dressing on the salad is over salted.

Delicious food and great ambiance. Service was great from everyone but our server. She was efficient but wasn't friendly or courteous in the least. Will try again and hopefully have someone better.

The outside patio is very nice. We were under cover which made it a little louder than we would have liked. Next time we will try the uncovered patio. The drink selections, especially the beer, were excellent and all of our dishes were delicious.

Food was delicious but very small. My rockfish was probably the best one I ever had but it was one third of a filet, too small for any standard. Water was scarce and waiters hard to find.

This “New England” seafood place is not at all authentic in taste or preparation of food. The clam chowder was full of crunchy things with no taste of clams. The crab in the crab roll was apparently run through a food processor to almost a paste and did not taste like crab. We didn’t order the lobster roll once told it had dill and thyme in it (great herbs but not in a lobster roll). The cod piccata was unexceptional. We had a reservation but were offered a seat in the dark bar rather than by the windowed dining area. The hostess did give us a table there when asked. . It’s a pretty space — nice cloth napkins. Probably best for drinks and oysters. Many specialty drinks.
