Atmosphere, ambiance and food was super.
First time at this new location. I’m happy SOCA is this great location. Menu has wide variety. I would come back again.
What a great space with fantastic food and drinks! We took our server’s recommendations for everything we ate, and it was all wonderful! Our group had beet salad, yam frites, guacamole with mixed drinks, and for dinner fish tacos and chicken empanadas…plus naturally dessert was tres leches cake and dulce du leche mousse. Everything was delicious, and we would highly recommend!
Food was amazing! We will definitely be back again!
Service was very slow.
It was very disappointing to not have any bottles of Procecco in stock. The Cava Brut was a 4/10.
It was my second time and I had really enjoyed the tacos the first time but they were just fair tonight.
Great atmosphere, menu, flavours. Friendly and very attentive servers.
Amazing food and excellent service !! Ana is amazing and gives that extra touch to make sure you have a great experience ❤️
I am an avid supporter of local restaurants and dine out 1-2 per week. The food is wonderful however the wine list by the glass would be the only thing to deter me from coming back on a regular basis. I do not feel that the pairings are well suited to the items on the menu. I would like to see a California or Oregon Pinot Noir and Spanish Garnacha on the "by the glass" menu.
We were very happy with our overall experience. The food was exceptional and the servers were very attentive but seemed inexperienced. For example, they didn’t clear the table effectively and did not provide serving utensils for sharing plates. We had an 8:30 reservation last Friday, it was the only one that was available. Unfortunately, the kitchen closed at 10:00 and the bar at 11:00 meaning we were rushed making our orders. This was fine with us except, we were asked to leave shortly after 11:00. Given we had spent a considerable amount for our dinner and were looking for a relaxing evening, we felt we were pushed out prematurely which took away from the enjoyment of our meal.
I was hoping to have a nice night here given that the meals I’ve had in their west end location have been great. Unfortunately the food was under seasoned and lacklustre. Worse than that, the service was incredibly slow and when we wanted to order another course they seemed genuinely surprised. The service after that was rushed and they brought out dessert while we still had our mains on the table and told us it was last call. Not very pleasant overall.
I’ll begin by highlighting the great service we received at Soca. The waitresses were very helpful and service was super fast.
The food, although nicely presented, was just OK. Nothing to write home about and especially given the very high prices charged for simple dishes and regular drinks. Never had I paid 15$ Before for a small glass of wine or 12$ for a pina colada that seemed prepared from the frozen stuff sold at supermarkets. Not a good value for money, so won’t be returning.
Second time going for dinner, tried different appetizers and main courses and were not disappointed. Their cocktails are delicious, especially the pisco one.
We enjoyed our dinner very much. The young fellow serving us was obviously very new to serving as he brought us our next course before clearing the table of the previous one…and still wanted to put the new dishes on the table where there was no room.
Great food with a variety of flavours, but only a limited menu.
Decent service and nice ambiance but the food was mediocre and extremely overpriced. I would not go back. If you’re looking for good small plates the food is much better at Aroma Meze or Play and value is way better. I was very disappointed.
Terrific brunch menu - tasty options, expertly prepared & beautifully plated.
Wonderful brunch. Interesting selection, reasonable prices and great service.
Best fried fish in Ottawa. New place with great service
Great location, very modern look. Fantastic food and excellent service. My favorite restaurant in Ottawa
What a wonderful surprise and great addition to the neighborhood. The restaurant is bright and cheery and the food was exceptional. Staff was attentive and friendly.
Will be making this a go-to for great food.
Amazing food, staff, and ambiance! Would definitely go back
Love Soca Kitchen. I heartily recommend this restaurant.
Would highly recommend, the whole experience was outstanding from the friendliness of the staff to the incredible tastes of our food. The portions were perfect and each dish was better then the last. They also have a small market in the restaurant where you can buy some of the dishes and prepare at home. We are so happy this has opened in our neighborhood and will be back often.
Great food and great atmosphere. Service was excellent.
Hopefully things will pick up, as it was very quiet.
The beef tacos were tasteless and very dry. There was supposed to have mint but couldn't taste any mint, when I asked to have a little sauce on the side, I was told that I would have to pay for it.
Very disappointing. We were hoping to have a good restaurant to go to in the neighbourhood.
The Beechwood location has great ambiance. The cocktails, food and service was fantastic. Will definitely be back very soon!
Amazing dinner, beautiful new location with outstanding food and very friendly service! Their market is super cute and filled with so many goodies!
The service, food and ambience all positively contributed to a lovely evening.
Had dinner with my partner last night at their new location and it was fantastic! Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh! We were very impressed with the quality of the food and service. The decor is very chic as well! Highly recommend.
The evening started well, we were greated and seated quickly and the restaurant is new, upbeat and spatious considering its a small space. The waitress was nice, available and took our order promptly.
Unfortunately it was all downhill after we placed our order. The serving staff was lost and placed our drinks & food on the table abruptly and without enthusiasm, as if their minds were elsewhere or she is commited to doing the bare minimum at her job.
The food was unfortunately not at par with the price. The 12 oysters platter ($44) was poorly shucked with shell fragments and they were dry and mildly fishy. We also ordered several tapas, starting with the crudo which was extremely salty. The fish was nice and the presentation was lovely, unfortunately, the fish was soaking in a pool of very salty liquid and the sauce needed to be wiped from the fish in order to eat it. The second dish was the seviche which was okay, the fish tasted fresh; however, this dish suffered the opposite issue, it lacked seasoning. We also ordered one of the bread & ham dish which was simple. If the rest meal was good, there would have be no complains about this dish. We chose not to have coffee & desert since we didn’t want any additional disappointment.
Overall, the serving staff lacked experience, enthusiasm and professionalism. When I decided the pay with cash, the server looked at me like an alien and asked me, “what I wanted her too do with it and how much do you want[sic]?” I responded, “ I would just like my change?” I must note, the waitress (not the servers,) was the most experienced and professional of the lot, returned with the cash explaining that the restaurant had no change. She did, thankfully offer a solution for the payment. Overall, no one ever came to ask if we were enjoying our meal, which is why I am leaving this review, if they really cared about their clientele then they would have acknowledged us at there restaurant. Very unfortunate and a waist of hard earned money.
I was dreaming of a real,Spanish dish you could sink your teeth into
Like a paella. Not a fan of small plates so left hungry
Food a bit simpler but I think for those who like Tapas all would be fine
The prosiutto with sourdough bread was quite dry and my husband didn’t care for it . My cauliflower tacos were so so…but prefer fish tacos from Royal Oak down the street
I loved my experience at the Soca Kitchen Beechwood. I had never been here and I was so happy to try it. They have a wide selection of foods you can't find everywhere and everything I had was very tasty! I quite enjoyed the Octopus Salpicón and my Tamarind Mojito! I can't wait to come again and continue exploring this fantastic menu.
So happy to have this restaurant open on Beechwood again. And Soca is the perfect fit: outstanding cocktails and thoughtfully prepared and presented dishes. We will be back!
Need menus not everyone carries a cell phone.
Disappointed there were none of the plantain dishes on the menu
Great new addition to the area. Very vibrant and refreshing menu, with a sleek, modern, minimalist decor. Some interesting wines at a decent price and a cool looking little market.
Delicious food and good service!
Really great! Good vegetarian options especially for apps. The octopus was also delicious. Could use someore sauce on their tacos though.
There was only one server for the entire room. She was very nice, friendly, and did her best under difficult circumstances. If additional staff is not hired, I fear people will get fed up, no matter how good the food is. It should not take 30 minutes just to get a drink.
Loved the ambience of Soca Kitchen Beechwood with its soft lighting, simple furniture and well spaced tables. The food was very good and even inventive. Loved the charcuterie, the Jamon iberico, tacos and octopus. Service was a little slow but prices are reasonable.
food and service very good, found the prices a bit high but the food was fresh and well presented
