The Springwood can be summed up effectively as a neighborhood restaurant, whose values, regarding the menu, focus greatly on locally sourced ingredients, hyper-seasonality, regenerative farming practices and minimizing waste.

The restaurant is the brainchild of local entrepreneurs Matthew Simpson (Chef) and Jasmine Lee (General Manager). Partners in business and in life since 2007.

To further their knowledge of the Hospitality industry they made their way to Downtown Toronto, where they were able to hone their crafts working in upscale and well-known restaurants for nine years. The end goal was always assured though, that they would come back to the town that gave them their start and help bring a special space to the place that they grew up.

As you make your way inside, you will be met with warm wood, lush plant life and funky art deco accents. We want this space to feel as though you are stepping into our home and we welcome you all to Come Over for Dinner.

Great menu and drink selection. Locally sourced ingredients were awesome. The family style theme of the menus is very refreshing and is it is done in an upscale manner with an eclectic mix of flavours ( I.e. green beens and sardines as a small veggie side. Whaaat!??). Very witty “Whitby based” drink names referencing locally recognized places! We loved our first night out! We’re going back soon with friends. The staff and owners are amazing folks.

My husband and I had a fabulous dinner at The Springwood. The food and overall service exceeded our expectations. We tried one of the tasting menus and it did not disappoint. There was plenty of food to go around, to the point where we were so happily stuffed when we walked out. The dishes came in an array of flavours for everyone's palette and we loved each of them! That butter is to die for and the cocktails are extremely delicious. The staff was super attentive and they even tell you where each dish is sourced from. I also loved that we never felt rushed and the whole dining experience was wonderful. I couldn't be happier that Durham has a great new and trendy spot for a nice date night or evening out with friends. 10000% recommend! We will be back. :)

Superb food and service with very knowledgeable staff. We really enjoyed all our food. It was tasty and the portions are very good. Is it a bit more expensive? Yes it is but it really is worth every penny to have such excellent, fresh and tasty food. Highly recommended!

First time going - we will be back!!! Service, knowledge, presentation, and quality were all over the top. This is a must for anyone who appreciates good food. Matt (Chef) & Jasmine (owners) were very friendly and engaging. Their "farm to fork" focus/belief were evident in every course of our meal. Decor is very reflective of the community and it's history. Congratulations on bringing your this establishement to Durham Region.

Food and service were outstanding! The portions were generous. It seems a bit on the pricey side, but when you hear the menu is meant to be shared and seeing the portions, we didn’t leave hungry and the end bill was about $125pp with cocktail and wine. We tried something from each section of menu! I couldn’t recommend this more. It is a great addition to Whitby!

This was our second time here and WOW is all we can say. The food was outstanding, we shared the Shrimp Roll, Cucumbers, Chicken Schnitzel, French Fries and Creamed Corn. The portions were generous and more than enough for two people. The service was impeccable and everything from the opening of the wine to the food being served was perfectly timed. We are hooked!!!

From arrival to leaving the restaurant the owners and staff have thought of everything needed to deliver a special dining experience. The customer service was fantastic and the timing of the food arriving to the table was incredible. The food itself was all local to Ontario and cooked to our entire tables liking. Highly recommended!

My friends and I loved our meal and the Easter eggs of Whitby nostalgia place throughout the restaurant and menu. Thank you all the care and joy you brought to our experience and we look forward to coming back soon. PS- The cream corn, halibut and steak were incredible!

Every member of staff was truly invested in making sure all guests thoroughly enjoyed their dining experience. All the locally sourced food was outstanding (the smoked trout dip is unbelievable). I strongly suggest ordering for the table and sharing as all the dishes are quite large. I highly recommend The Springwood and will definitely be back.

A little different dining experience being A la carte but if you manage options well it can be affordable. PLATES are generous and everything made in house. Decor is warm and inviting, atmosphere energetic but manageable for a smaller venue. Easy conversations. Service impeccable as well as food quality. Definitely need to try to see for your self at least once.

This was our second visit to Springwood. The food was as fantastic as the first time. I would order the smoked trout dip by the gallon tub if I could. If you embrace the family-style menu and order a bunch of things for the table to share you will have a great time. The menu changes often so there were some new things for us to try, and they were all hits. Looking forward to our next visit!

A novel menu. Put together by a chef with an excellant understanding of flavours, and how they combine. This approach carries over to the bartender, who has put together a list of cocktails. I believe originals. Service is spot on. The size , or area, is a little small for the sound volume. Not uncomfortable, but , not romantically quiet. All in all 4 thumbs up from the two of us.
