The Vanitea Room a Tea Salon and Eatery
The Vanitea Room a Tea Salon and Eatery is located in Ottawa Ontario. Come spoil yourself in our all day brunch or our ever so popular bottomless mimosas!
At Vanitea, we provide a timeless tradition done beautifully.
For Gluten-free and vegan tea sets, we do require an order and payment in advance. Orders and payment may be made over the phone, or through our website, at http://www.thevanitearoom.com/reserve1/
We wanted to go to Vanitea for the Vegan options on the menu.
The food was good, but not great. The place is nice, but the music was way too loud to enjoy ourselves.
Overall there was nothing wrong, the service was great, but for the price, I would have expected better food and a more relaxed atmosphere. The noise level made us feel rushed and uncomfortable.
We enjoyed our visit. The food choices were out of the ordinary, and a nice change from standard brunch items. The servers were pleasant and helpful, and overall it was a good choice for someone looking for a different type of Sunday brunch.
Great food and ambience.
It was a nice experience. The decoration is very special and unique, the food different and delicious, and the service and staff are excellant.
Food & service were terrific as usual!
Always great value for what you pay! Bottomless mimosas are a must as well!
Decent vegan brunch options, Benny had almost no Hollandaise sauce they charge 4$ for more (ridiculous), food was decent semi cold and expect a long wait. Overall the place is definitely worth checking out but the food is not worth the cost, and to charge per cup of coffee and not tell your table is silly ( a fellow server). If you are gonna charge such high prices the service should match that.
Thr brunch was presented with no fuss and the server checked with us later. The tea was selected from a tea chest. The room is attractively decorated. We have been to the Tearoom on several occasions and have enjoyed the ambience.
Wonderful place! Would absolutely go back!
Try the indulgent breakfast.
Nothing fancy. Extra long sausages that I didn’t like the taste of. Dry toast and carrots that seemed a touch rubbery.
Not worth the cost.
Accommodated our extra guest perfectly :) thank you
Probably wouldn't go back for a special event like the Kate Spade one, the flier specified that every person go their own pot of tea, their own plate of food, and their own Kate Spade gift. At the end of the experience, after the bill had been paid, they tried to give the gift only to my mother. If you are paying $65 per person, and the event says we should all get the gift, I don't think it's appropriate to try to withhold that from the other guests. We got the gifts, and they were quite lovely, but it felt a little uncomfortable to have to say something about the false advertising. If it had been advertised that only mothers got the present that would have been different.
I was slightly shocked that they would try to deceive the customers, but no fight was put up when I asked for clarification.
Lovely tea and delicious food otherwise. Like I said, I wouldn't come back for an event, but definitely on a regular day.
The music was too loud and unsuitable for a Mother’s Day breakfast. We arrived and were seated for a 10am reservation, by 11 we had to ask the server when our breakfast was coming. While everyone else had been served. The value of food was nothing to rave about. we were told by phone there were several gluten free options on the menu. Only to be offered gluten free toast. I won’t be returning.
Lovely service and beautiful aesthetic. The music at first was very "pump up", which didn't suit the vibe and made it feel less relaxing. This eventually changed, which was great. We preferred our first visit when it was acoustic covers of popular songs --- both relaxing and fun! The food was wonderful. My only complaint is I called ahead of time to see if they would have dairy free scones available, to which they said they would. On the day though, all four scone options had dairy. With a rise in these kinds of dietary issues, it would be nice to have at least one non-dairy alternative.
Overall, great service and I will most likely go again.
Loved the ambiance and decor! Also played great music
I liked the Vanitea room experience! The food was delicious, the servers were friendly, and the restaurant is lovely inside. The service was a bit slow, but if you are going for a classy brunch, the point isn't to rush through it anyway. I originally planned to get bottomless mimosa option, but after browsing some posts, I saw the mimosas had mixed reviews. We bought bottles instead, which were excellent value at $24, and tasted quite nice. Would recommend for a special occasion/celebration!
Unique experience with some fabulous food. Great for special occasions or brunch. If you need glasses to read, bring them as the menu is hard to read, due to the font and colour. Would definitely return.
Everything was wonderful however there was a Bridal Shower also taking place at the same time. As the restaurant itself is quite small the noise level was way too loud. We were given a discount to accommodate which was appreciated but recommendation for the restaurant to hold private parties without being open to the public.
Service was slow, food was average at best , decor is great.
It seems that the restaurant was booked for a bridal shower after the breakfast reservation s and they were decorating and putting up signs around us. Overall not a good experience
Delightful from the moment we walked in!! Beautiful setting with impeccable service and delicious food. What a treat!
Lovely gluten free food and a knowledgeable and friendly server. Nice atmosphere. Very clean. Edible flower petals an aromatic addition to the latte.
Very nice place , music wasn’t appropriate for bunch and a bit loud .
Food was good , and service was good.
I will definitely go back .
The food was just ok, nothing special at all especially for the price. The restaurant itself was very nice, great ambience - but this was probably the best part of my experience. The server was kinda and attentive, but do NOT order to bottomless mimosas - they are just juice. $15 is kind of steep for bottomless OJ.
I was extremely disappointed in the “bottomless mimosas” that were just juice. Huge waste of money and will not be returning
The service was slow. There are not many tables in the restaurant and two servers. The food was good.
We had the afternoon tea and it was excellent! Perfect balance of flavors. Will definitely return. The seats were attractive and comfortable. The atmosphere relaxed elegance.
Booked a reservation through the OpenTable App for 1:15. Arrived at 1:10 and were ignored when we tried to tell someone that we had arrived. The dining area was packed so the only waiting area was at the crowded small front entrance area. At 1:20 we tried to get someone’s attention a second time to confirm that we had arrived. At 1:35 someone finally came to the waiting area and offered us coffee yet had no information in regards to how much longer our wait would be. We noticed two open tables but were not taken to either even though it was now 20 minutes past our reservation. We were finally sat 35 minutes after our confirmed reservation time with no apology for our wait. During our wait we took time to look at the menu that was attached to their profile on the OpenTable App. Once we sat we realized that everything we planned on ordering was not available as the menu online was not up to date.
What we did order was very good and the portions were fair for the price. However we did not receive our food until a full hour after our reservation time.
We were surprised that the coffees we were “offered” during our wait were on the bill but didn’t bother speaking to anyone about it as we were honestly just ready to leave after we had finished eating.
I would not go again and I would hope this review will bring attention to the lack of customer service we received and hope it will be a policy change going forward for this business to acknowledge customers.
So charming and lovely and delicious!
We will be going back again soon : )
Went to Vanitea for the Drag Supper event. I found the experience to be incredibly rushed; three course meal was not as expected - amuse bouche as opposed to an actual appetizer, main was sized like an appetizer, and desert did not provide options. Queens were amazing!!!!!
I guess I was just expecting a slight more in the mimosas...5 cups and I was bloated instead of just feeling a super mild buzz.
Had a wonderful Sunday brunch with a friend last weekend. The decor of the restaurant is luxurious and well appointed and the service professional and attentive. We enjoyed our meals and even though the restaurant is not huge we were able to have a private chat. Next visit will try the afternoon tea.
We'll be back soon!
I was very disappointed with my experience. We booked reservations here for my girlfriends 30th birthday. We were very excited about the bottomless mimosas. We showed up today for our reservation and waited 40 minutes to be seated. The restaurant is cramped, there wasn’t enough seating. Someone in our party didn’t have a chair and had to use a backless stool. They had no vanilla for the latte, the service was slow, and the food was very mediocre. They appeared to be under staffed and it wasn’t a friendly environment. I would not recommend this restaurant. The only positive thing about this reservation was the Prosecco.
Very special place....excellent food !
I will definitively return
I am really disappointed by my experience at the Vanitea. I had made reservations for the Drag brunch and we were rudely told that our table wasn’t ready yet with no time frame on when it would be. The lobby was freezing and we weren’t offered coffee for our inconvenience (I wouldn’t have minded paying for it later). When we were finally seated, the staff person made no effort to be nice. We were there celebrating a double birthday so we had gift bags with us but the staff person made no mention of it.
There was absolutely nothing that could make us believe that we came on the right day for Drag brunch except for exceptionally loud pop music. We couldn’t hear each other talk. We were actually talking among ourselves that we had the wrong day. Finally, after 45 minutes, the drag show started with no notice. It would have been nice to know the start time to be able to go to the washroom before. The poor drag queens were great but struggled to perform in such a tiny space. For a space that seems to only exist to take Instagram pictures, I was surprised no member of the staff suggested taking pictures of the customers with the Drag queens. There's seemed to be such a disconnect between the restaurant and the performance. It was just an akward experience.
As for the food, it was mediocre. The scones and English muffins were dense and crumbly, not flaky. Coffee is served in a tiny cup and there's no refill. I would never go back there.
I hope that drag brunch finds a better venue where the drag queen can perform without the fear of injuring themselves.
Very beautiful establishent, Their menu options are super delicious and priced perfectly.
The service for the bottomless Mimosas was very slow.
We had a reservation. We got reminded of our reservation yet our table was not set and reserved.
The food and the decor were amazing. My table was not ready for my reservation, and had to wait an additional 15 mins for the table to be cleared and set. Also had to ask for refills on our water and for the bill. I wish the music and the ambiance better reflected the atmosphere they are trying to create. There were two large parties seated during the time we were there - and it felt that our service was as a result over looked. I would come again but during the week when it is hopefully more quiet as I could barely hear the people at my table.
Delicious food and great atmosphere! Will definitely be back!
Excellent menu...service and exceptional entertainment 💗💗💗💗💗
