The Woodlawn Inn
The food was not worth the price. The potatoes tasted like they were cooked on a dirty grill top and weren't seasoned at all. The eggs Benedict were nothing to write home about and the English muffins were stale. The tiramisu was lovely but the presentation was outdated. There was one waitress and she seemed to have difficulty keeping up with the amount of tables judging by how long we waited to order, get our bill and pay. Definitely wouldn't go back.
We’ve been to the restaurant on three occasions now.
We love it.
The food has always been excellent and the service is great.
My wife and I love it and will continue to visit for our special nights out.
I will say that I have always stuck with the beef options. This isn’t to say that the rest of their entrees aren’t amazing - I just really love their beef. Kudos to their chef!
My go to is a steak and caeser salad. I usually experiment with the appetizers and try something new in that department. Always been happy
As for a desert, their tiramisu is fantastic as well.
I have also appreciated the owner and he make time to make sure your experience is going well
Top shelf.
Wonderful dinner as usual. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to speak with. Everything was fabulous, you make our special occasions perfect every time. Thank you.
We attent Woodlawn once a month are always happy with our experiences. The Dover sole and lobster Fettecunie is to die for. Michelle is the best. Desert might even be better. You decide!
The food was very very good! The filet was more than perfectly cooked and the trout was seasoned with a light hand and a knowledge of how to prepare fish. So delicious!
The food is very good, the service is excellent and I love that it’s a quiet intimate space where the four of us could easily chat and enjoy ourselves.
Anniversary...
Ambiance was light, quiet. We were able to hear ourself speak.
Always enjoy coming here.
Excellent food, great service in elegant dining room. Enjoyed the opportunity for quiet conversation.
We had a very nice, delicious meal prior to going out to meet-up with friends. Service was excellent.
Beautiful old building, food was excellent, and staff was courteous. Well worth a visit for a nice dinner.
As always, the Woodlawn's service was impeccable, the food and wine excellent and the setting very comfortable. The only negative was the loudness of the music coming from the speaker above the table. When we mentioned it to our server, it was turned down.
We recently celebrated my mother's 80th birthday at The Woodlawn Inn, and we felt very welcomed. There were seven of us, and each of us enjoyed our meal very much. Staff were attentive and made us feel like we were valued and our presence appreciated. Great care was taken to make sure that our special family evening was just that, special.
Dinner was excellent! The wine list was unreal. Best place in town for cozy fine dinning
The food was excellent, the service was wonderful. You are not rushed at all. We were able to sit, relax and enjoy our food and wine. We will definitely return with our friends...
I always enjoy a special occasion at Woodlawn Inn!! Fine dining at it's finest!! Stephen is always so friendly and welcoming!! This is certainly a Cobourg jewel!!
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The dining room had a tastefully sparkly ambience, the staff were very helpful & friendly & the food was scrumptious right down to the last drop of coffee at the end. A lovely experience on a drizzly New Year's Eve. Thanks to everyone at the Woodlawn!
Enjoyed a lovely post Christmas brunch with family. Very nice atmosphere with delicious food.
Definitely will return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there. Very beautiful setting. Historic building. Dry nice that Mr Della Casa stopped by to say hello.
The Woodlawn Inn is a wonderful dining experience. We had our anniversary dinner and my birthday there this past Saturday. The service was impeccable and the food was excellent.
We HGHLY recommend going to the Woodlawn for any special occasion. The tables are separated enough that you don’t overhear other conversations but we noticed that they also have dining rooms for larger groups.
The bar in the lounge where you can wait for your guests to arrive looked VERY nice and would be a pleasant place to have a quiet drink with your significant other.
Although staff was fairly friendly, poor service and very slow. Asked for coffee, and after nothing, waited 20 mins until asking again. Food was cold and not tasty, and breakfast came with 6-8 small pieces of potatoes hash. A friend has recommended it, but probably will never return again. Not worth the money.
The food was simply terrible. Everyone in our party of four was of the same opinion. This is the second time we have had the same experience. We will not return.
Will return..enjoyed our evening very much!
Had a nice lunch..our guests reported that the tortiere was a bit too “meaty”.
Eggs Benedict was delicious with exception of the very tough bottom on the English muffins..hard to cut through with a knife.
Setting and service..excellent..quiet, lovely music.
Fantastic restaurant in 19thC home converted to restaurant. 18 guest bedrooms inclufing two adjacent cottages.
On the occasion of my 80th birthday I was treated to lunch by friends of 40 years. The lunch was wonderful,, our waitress was extremely pleasant and helpful. On the whole the ambiance of the time we spent in the Woodlawn Inn was perfect. Have been in the past, and that was why I recommended the Inn as the venue for my special birthday. Definitely worth the drive, and will certainly return again soon.
Thank you
Patricia R.
Great chef prepared food. They went out of their way to accommodate gluten free requests. Love my desert!!! Waiter was friendly and provided excellent service. Will definitely go back.
The food was good, the service was excellent, the atmosphere of the historic Inn was a great back drop. We were very comfortable and most certainly will return for another visit.
We had been very pleased with dinner on the occasion of my wife's birthday a couple of months ago, and were looking for a high quality meal again. We were not disappointed. There are few truly classic restaurants anymore in this area, but the Woodlawn Inn never disappoints.
This was our second visit and we will be back for a third. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. The roasted root vegetable soup was delicious, the filet of beef was cooked perfectly, and the accompanying risotto tasted fabulous. The red wine that our waiter recommended went very well with my steak, and their maple creme brule was the perfect finish to our meal.
We were a group of 8 for Thanksgiving brunch. The food was lovely, and the atmosphere delightful. It was also very reasonable for all that was offered. Could become our new Thanksgiving tradition!
Great atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Extensive menu. Loved the food. Very enjoyable experiance.
Overall excellent, however only ONE vegan, gluten-free option for entre, and none for deserts.
As always it was a great evening. Excellent food. John our waiter is always helpful if there are questions about the menu.
Quiet dining in a relaxed setting. Caesar salad and filet of sole are to die for.
We had the Vegetable Tower, just delicious, the Veal Scaloppini nice and tender, for appetizer
spinach with kale salad, very different, for dessert the Kahlua Tiramisu just melted on your tongue.
we really enjoyed our meal, including the friendly service.
I have been there several times and I would recommend it for nice elegant dining in Cobourg. I will definitely go back the next time I am in town.
Good menu choices, and food was excellent. Service was good-to-excellent. I would recommend this to anyone who wanted fine-dining -- it was well worth the drive from the GTA.
Amazing as always !! My friend lives in Cobourg and whenever I am in town we go out for dinner here. Michelle is amazing!!! Thanks Steve for stopping by our table to say hello!
Went for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and was greeted by the innkeeper Stephan a very personable fellow
Had a delicious meal served by very professional waiter , very friendly atmosphere and outstanding ambiance , will definitely return for that special dining experience
Our experience at the Woodlawn Inn dining room was great. The owner attended our table and gave us a brief history of the Inn and of Cobourg in general. Being architecture and history buffs , this was a real plus! Our food was impeccably prepared and served. Thanks for a great one!
