Beautiful place. Busy and full of Christmas cheer. Food beautiful. Service good. Lovely areas with comfortable chairs to relax in after dinner with a drink. First time there but hoping to go back in the future.

We really enjoyed our meal but the portions for a man were a bit small. Took 50 minutes to get our main course which was ok as we were not in a hurry. Food was good. Not fantastic but good.

The food was very tasty although the soup could have been a little hotter. The service was quite slow for what wasn't a busy session although the serving staff were very pleasant indeed, suggesting that the issue was in the kitchen.

Every morsel was beautifully cooked and well presented. We waited a tad longer than we expected to but for food of that quality it was worth the wait. The three waiting staff whom we met were charming, helpful and efficient.

We had two overnight stopovers recently at The Woodside and dined in the restaurant on both occasions. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Our food was excellent, beautifully presented and piping hot. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely and we couldn't have enjoyed our evenings more. We had not previously stayed or dined at The Woodside, but will certainly do so again, it's a gem and we would happily recommend it to others.

We have eaten here many times before but this visit was not great. We waited 50 mins between starter and main course with no acknowledgement from the staff. When the main courses did come they did not all arrive together and unfortunately they just weren't very good. Possibly just too many diners at one time as the service was much slower than usual.

Great welcome. Food tasty and well presented. Candle lit tables created nice atmosphere but room was a little too hot. Very attentive staff and a lovely enjoyable evening with our friends.

We were staying overnight in the hotel and booked dinner for 6.45. My husband had a starter which arrived quickly, but there was a long wait from his plate being cleared until the main course was served at 7.55. As I hadn't had a starter, i had been in the restaurant for 1 hour and 10 minutes before I had any food. That aside, the food, when it arrived was lovely - tasty and well cooked and well presented. The serving staff were delightful (especially Andrew) and the ambience was great.

My bother, sister and husband stayed in the 3 bed apartment which was amazing. could not fault anything. We also had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. Great selection to choose from and all excellently cooked and presented. Would definitely stay there again

We stayed at the hotel 10-15 years ago and came back just for an evening meal this time to see if it was just as good as we remember. It’s even better now! Nice modern feel and friendly staff and the food was excellent.

Service really let the food down. Food was delicious, presented well and a lovely choice of menu. Service was painfully slow, we were left with empty plates for quite some time and when plates were collected we weren’t offered a chance to order more drinks. We had to ask as the waiter as he walked away and he didn’t turn around to listen and brought the wrong drink. We were given dessert menus and sat for over 15 minutes looking around for staff to order from so decided to just get try to find someone to pay the bill. Waiting staff were standing chatting and vaping by an open door which was really disappointing and lost them our further custom.

Unfortunately my family and I were disappointed with our lunch at the Woodside. The Sunday lunch wasn't what we expected in that the beef wasn't tasty (and it looked dry around edges), few vegetables and 3 small roast potatoes, these did not look like they had seen goose fat, as advertised on the menu - they looked and tastes very similar to frozen roast potatoes. It was my sons birthday so I didn't want to complain on thus occasion. Spending almost £100 for a 1 course less than medicare lunch for 4 is not value for money. Head waiter was welcoming and professional, other saff could be reminded to not be on their phones at work. A most disappointing first visit!

Food was not good. Avo on toast was toast smothered with a sweet sticky ‘confit tomato’ then topped with a minimal amount of brown avo and 2 slices of bacon. French toast with bacon and maple syrup was smothered in golden syrup not maple syrup making it horribly sweet and inedible. Vegetarian breakfast was very dry. Second and last to the Woodside as the food has been expensive and very poor on both occasions. Shame as it’s a lovely venue.
