   Our server Q was really nice and did a great job.. except that he didn’t communicate with the kitchen at all. We had taken maybe 3 bites of our starters when some girl came out with our entrees. She literally stood there staring at Q like she was waiting for him to make room on our tiny table. I had to ask her to take them back and keep them warm until we were ready. Yay… tepid entrees. We didn’t want our food to get cold so we had to ask them to box up the appetizers. They were NOT busy. This was early evening and even Q told us he wasn’t busy. The steak was waaaay under cooked, and I think the beef bourguignon was made three days earlier. The wine list was absolutely hilarious. Crappy domestic wines for $120? For the price of this place, I expected more. If you want a charge people for high-end dining, try to play the part.

   This was our first experience there. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. We never really had to ask for anything. I just thought personally for the money the food was ok. Menu was limited and I have to admit I am a bit of a picky eater. We ordered the Strip and it was just good.

   We were the only ones there at 4pm on Sunday "Q" - our server was very attentive The steaks were ordered were overdone on the first delivery corrected on the second we were offered desserts as a goodwill gesture but charged $5 for 4 slices of bread and butter, when we complained nothing was corrected. It appears that management needs to do a better job of attending to the dining room as additional guests arrived and I had to go back to the kitchen to notify staff they were here Food overall was good as was dessert and bread

    The food took an hour and a half to come out and it still wasn’t tight!!!! It lacked seasoning and and the temperature was not hot at all especially since this was the second attempt to get my entree correct because the first attempt was horrible overcooked without the toppings!!!! I ordered the Bison Steak and it was nowhere what I expected…. The server was awesome and the ambiance was very beautiful and relaxing but I was very displeased with our meal… my fiancés food was also horrible as well steak over cooked with no seasoning, asparagus extremely charred with no seasoning and cold food also……

    The place is nice and has a nice atmosphere. When it comes to the food, the food was soooooooo bland! I had the half roasted chicken and they could’ve at least seasoned the chicken before cooking it. I had to drown my entire plate with salt & pepper. The sodas were all flat, I initially ordered Arnold Palmer the sweet tea taste less than diet, the lemonade had no lemon. Exchange for a ginger ale bc you can’t go wrong with a ginger ale nope got that wrong too no sizzle at all and it too was very light in color. I give the food a 2 bc I had to put salt & pepper.

    Very disappointed in this place. The ambiance is a great setting.Nothing works after that, very rude waiter . This was our valentines dinner choice for a few reasons and I’ve never been this disappointed at a supposed to be fine dining. My wife Brussels sprouts was burned up the first time she sent them back they came out burned up again. The the third time was better. When her food came out it was in a bowl mainly mash potatoes and gravy really no meat . My medium well steak was closer to raw than anything. I sent it back and when it came back I just threw it in a box and brought it home. This restaurant only sides is mash potatoes, green beans, French fries and Brussels sprouts. No bread and it still takes a while to get your food. The manager did try to smooth things over and gave us a 10% discount but that’s not what we wanted. We wanted a really good valentine dinner and its not at the yard restaurant. It was just down right offer, I wouldn’t eat there again for free.

    The atmosphere was very nice, quite and romantic. For a first time visit, I was very pleased. The waiter was very helpful in recommendations and knew what wine paired well with our food. I will definitely visit again.

    The food was not only over priced but it was AWFUL my salad was warm and the dressing they had was awful. I will never ever ever recommend this place. It’s sad you pay $100 for a meal and have to go to another restaurant to eat again bc the portions were tiny

    Great food. A little disappointed about how we made a reservation 3 weeks out and they stuck us at a small table in the corner by the fire door when there were a lot of tables open better suited and this table could of been saved for a walk in customer.

    We came in for restaurant week. I had the restaurant week special (fried Brussels sprouts, rainbow trout and peanut butter pie) with wine pairing. Will definitely come back.

    There was a lot of confusion over could you or could you not order off of the regular menu or could you only order from the Restaurant Week menu. Once that was resolved things were very discombobulated and finally had to tell the server, hey are you going to take everyone’s order?! The restaurant week menu totally confused other areas. We asked, so the appetizer on the restaurant week is for one person, correct - it’s a smaller portion. So, we ordered an appetizer of the Brussel sprouts, and one of our people ordered from the restaurant week menu - and also ordered the brussel sprouts, they were the same size. Had we all ordered off that menu, we would have gotten A LOT of brussel sprouts. We had told them we needed to be out around, or a little after 7, we started at 5, and left at 7:35 and then had to rush to the he BJCC. The food was delicious, we loved our server - he was a nice guy - but there was a lot of confusion and we weren’t sure if it was the server, management, the kitchen or what. We would definitely give them a try again - but probably not on a night that we needed to be somewhere afterwards.

    Good experience with the wine-tasting meal. The wines were excellent and paired well with the food. The food was quite tasty although it was not hot as served to the table; that was my only disappointment for the evening.

    1st visit had opening cocktail Moonshine Bar rye and rocks, daughter had Apple Manhattan, both expertly done. Friendly flamboyant bartender and doorman were fun. Beautiful view, city lights and fire pit on rooftop bar, lots of pictures and fun even though it rained. Then wonderful dinner at The Yard with Jordan waiting. Black Drum fish market selection with smoked yogurt and yellow caviar wonderful firm, buttery with touch of smoke. I had panko breaded pork chop with roasted red pepper coulis, cambezola cheese, and pickled red onion arugula salad. Huge portions. Rich, tangy and crunchy spicy tomato vinegrette arugula topping w cheese. Wow wow wow. Ended with John Emerald Malt Whisky, decaf, and espresso creme breulie. Nearly flawless evening, friendly staff, classic surroundings gave us memorable fun evening. We'll be back. You have to try this place.

    Never disappoints..we like to sit at the high table in the bar area My wife had the Waygu beef. I had the drum fish. Both excellent. In theory can valet park, but I usually park in the lot for free at 1909 1st Ave N

    Everything was very good except … My wife and I split a large breakfast plate and were surprised that we got billed for an extra “platage fee” = another 50% of the cost of the breakfast for simply providing an extra plate. Probably won’t return because of this.

    Decided to stop here and eat on a Sunday night before driving home. We live about 1hr away and frequent Birmingham dining establishments and prefer places like this instead of the more well known chain restaurants.2 in the party, just my wife and I. I’d say that this place was “decent” compared to other places in the same area and price range. We started off with the “chef board” which was various meats and cheese. It was very good and a great app. We then got a soup and salad to share until our food arrived. Unfortunately, the soup and salad came out with our meals which isn’t really what we wanted but no big deal. I ordered the “catch of the day” which was a black drum fillet. The fish was really good but was pretty full of bones. Someone should have checked the filet better before cooking it, I was disappointed it had so many bones. Not very normal for a filet of fish. My wife got the steak and it was really good, cooked perfectly and very tasty. About halfway through our meal a homeless guy walks in the restaurant and ask for a coffee. Our waiter “Q” (that’s what he told us his name was) told him to wait and he’d bring him one. Well he never did and the homeless gentleman proceeded to stand next to our table for about 10min and “Q” never did bring him a coffee and kinda avoided the situation he just never came back around until the homeless guy left. Kinda odd experience as well…. Our meal was close to $200 which I’m not against paying as that’s pretty standard for “fine dining” in downtown Birmingham. But, I feel like we could have had a more enjoyable experience at another restaurant in the same vicinity that we’ve been to in the past. Lots of great options within walking distance of this restaurant so they have a lot of competition and unfortunately don’t hold up to other options in the area. I feel like we paid for 5-star dining and got 3-star food and service at best.

    The good: The burger was excellent, the staff were kind people, and the space is attractive. The bad: Even though there were few other patrons the whole time we were there on a Fri night, there were multiple unavailable items on a menu that was limited and not reflective of what was posted online. The sweet young waiter was not trained to be able to describe the food on the menu and lacked basic food vocabulary. Though the waiter and chef tried to be accommodating, there's a glaring management problem there reflected in the almost empty dining room.

    The Thanksgiving Buffet was not the quality for which we had hoped. I’m pretty sure the creamed corn was from a can and the dressing tasted like stove top stuffing from the 70’s with pears added. The Brussels sprouts were soggy with water and had no flavor; I could not eat them. They had desserts that were not house made and the pumpkin pie crust was burned, bread pudding was very dry with no sauce. The only salad offered was finely diced beets with a small amount of cheese. We suspected the beets were canned and if you don’t like those there wasn’t one more salad option. And the gravy was runny like water and tasteless. I think they could have attempted to do much better. The Yard for Thanksgiving is a big NO for me and we do not recommend.

    We enjoyed the yard burger and steak and greens (though the avocado pudding was practically non-existent on the steak and greens). The appetizers were not very good -- skip the oysters and the plum and pepper toast. Nice ambience in the bar area and service.

    Do not go! No one working, took over an hour to get our food. Drinks never arrived. Tables rocky and sticky with syrup from breakfast. Greens wilted and dead. Server tried her best but know it was a disaster. No bill arrived- we left a good tip. Toilet in the lobby of the hotel women's room was as shaky and unbalanced as the dining tables. All in all - avoid!
