We had a lovely and fun time at the British afternoon tea party. And thank you again to our superb waiter who put up with all our picture taking. We had a a lot of fun!

Great service, food was okay. But paying over 60 dollars a person for tea, tiny sandwiches and scones is definitely not worth it.

We went for afternoon tea. Service was excellent. Loved the decor and ambiance. But the food was very mediocre, very disappointing for this price. Tea selection was also a bit limited.

I think the service was absolutely fantastic. I went for the High Tea service as a birthday treat to myself. The assortment of food was delicious. It doesn't look like a lot at first but once you start eating, you'd be surprised how quickly you get full. The server was amazing. She even brought out an extra dessert for my toddler to have, and helped us take pictures.

The only complaint that I have is actually the decor. While it is beautifully decorated, it feels very dark and gloomy. But when I think of High Tea, I think of a bright afternoon, sunshine, and birds. The room that it's actually held in is at the back of the restaurant, down some steps. There's no windows or natural light. So it kinda feels like you're in a dungeon. Lighting comes from potted lights straight from the ceiling so when you take pictures, you'll be cast with dark under eye circles and shadows everywhere.

While Fairmont does Turn Moments into Memories, I can't capture those amazing moments into beautiful, bright photos. For that reason, I most likely will not recommend their High Tea service to others. However, if you don't care for any of the photo stuff, than absolutely, try it out =)

We had two adults and one child. Last year the easter tea was amazing. And was very well suited for kids (little piece of grill cheese and pizza) and a little takeaway cookie. This year it was terrible. My kid is vegetarian and they brought her a beet sandyand one with mushrooms....although she’s vegetarian she’s still a kid. I was disappointed with the of attention to the kids tea. And now very limited tea choice for her also. I just tememylaat year we thoroughly enjoyed it, can’t say the same for this year.

I always love afternoon tea at the fairmont, and as always it was amazing. My only complaint would be that we booked about a month in advance and I was so excited to have the current themed tea, which is not what we received. It was a different themed tea for the Easter weekend (which I saw nothing about when we booked) so I was a bit disappointed with that. Otherwise the service was fantastic and the view was lovely.

We decided to take our mother for her birthday. Our server honestly didn’t care that it was her birthday. The food was no explained in terms of the composition and what the individual items were. No one checked back on our table till we were through. The level of service expected at the price of $65 per person was definitely not there and it would not be an experience or place to recommend to anyone in the future.

Hands down the best afternoon tea experience I have ever had (and I have been to many!) !! The fairmont never fails to disappoint! The tearoom in the back of Notch 8 is extremely intimate and cozy and is thoughtfully decorated to suit the theme of the tea! My friend and I had the best time, totally worth trying at least once! Well done Notch 8!!

Had a very special time with my grandmother over afternoon tea. She loved the Old Hollywood theme since that was during her time. The entire menu and tea was delicious - we always come to the Fairmont for their delicious scones, but this was extra special. Highly recommended.

The service was excellent. The food was okay...dry sandwiches with processed products. The ambiance was nice but the room was a bit isolated and dark for afternoon tea. We prefer the Empress in Victoria for food, presentation, and ambiance.

I have been there many times since the afternoon tea was set up at the now lobby area, in the top floor lounge. The price increased, but the quality is getting poor, portion is smaller than ever and the service is bad. The servers were nice, but not attentive at all. They are chatting at the back corner most of the time, didn’t volunteeringly explain what we are getting on the trays until we asked (and was wrong on some of the items too), also forgot about serving the scones. I think it would probably be my last time there for a very very long time. Not worth the price and meet the expectation

Service was poor, for the price very uninspiring. We were just given the tea menu under our tray with no explanation as to what anything was. We flagged a different waiter to get a tea refill. The savory items might have been better if had known what the ingredients were without having to refer to the menu. We did not enjoy the savory items it was a challenge to get through some of them , so many ingredients that the tastes just became similar and not tasty.
We were very disappointed , the experience was non eventful.

I got a gift card for the afternoon tea for my birthday. When making the reservation I was able to tell them all my allergies and food preferences ahead of time, and then they had everything ready when I got there. Everything was so tasty, I can't stop thinking about the little bite with the avocado on it, days later. And at the end, when we were too full to finish all the desserts, they offered to pack them up for us to take home, which I was not expecting! It was well worth it for a once-per-year treat.

The experience of going to tea at the Fairmont Waterfront was good - the service was prompt/friendly, ambience was lovely and tea was good.

But it's definitely way overpriced for the quality and amount of food we received - scones and clotted cream (which were excellent), about 6-8 tiny crudite for the main course (average or below average quality), and some delicious but again very small desserts.

You also are only offered one choice of tea, whereas at other less expensive tea places you have the option to have multiple tea flavours.

I had been planning to go to the Fairmont's High Tea for some time, as I have fond memories of going to the Empress in Victoria for the same service as a child, and really wanted to like it, but the entire experience fell short. The tea room was decked out in a 1930's Hollywood theme, which came off super cheesy; there were bags of popcorn displayed around the room, cliche Hollywood film posters of women swooning and men in fedoras up on every wall, and a low-res version of "Casablanca" that played for about 5 minutes of my visit, the rest of the time it was a still of the title screen with specs - someone apparently forgot to put the video on a loop.
The theme extended to the menu, which included variations on what were supposedly hot-ticket items at restaurants in Hollywood's golden era, like lobster rolls and cobb salad.
A sweet custard was served first, along with scones, which my server admonished me to not fill up on because there was a lot more to come (?) and tea, which was quite good.
The savory items were served second, and were truly awful and in really distasteful combinations.
The third course of sweets were good, with the exception of a chocolate tart with some sort of pistachio crème that tasted like body odour.

For the actual meal, I was one person, and was served 1 of each item, but charged the same price of $65 for the tea service which includes two of each item. I wasn't asked if I wanted one serving of each, and it would have been nice to have been given the option for the $ I was paying.

Overall, I would have preferred a simple, straightforward, traditional tea service - cucumber sandwiches, petit fours, and tasteful English décor - and would imagine that is what most people are coming to tea service at the Fairmont for. I understand the desire to jazz it up to entice customers, but the menu was ill-conceived and the theme felt really tired, badly executed, and unnecessary.

Notch8 always provides a wonderful seasonal tea experience. Their specialised Tea room is set aside from their regular seating area, meaning that any noisier brunch or meal gatherings in their dining area is seldom heard from while enjoying the uniquely decorated setting.

Food is fantastic and is always very creative, fitting with the theme wonderfully. There are few better places to be wowed by a great Afternoon Tea experience!

My wife really enjoys afternoon tea, so we have tried several afternoon tea locations in the lower mainland. We checked-in at 12:52 pm for our 1pm reservation, but they were not able to seat us until 1:15pm and when I inquired why many people who appeared to show up after us was seated before us, they made excuses and did not apologize immediately. My wife could see the stress they had seating the crowd that appeared after us so she empathized. The tea selection and afternoon tea menu combination was very presentable and tasty 7.5/10. The afternoon tea room looked great even though we did not get the best table. During tea, the seating attendant came by and apologized for herself being short with us earlier. I actually thought it was the male attendant’s fault after thinking about it. Anyway, two hrs and $160 later we were stuffed and left.

We have been attending the Victoria Empress (Fairmont) Christmas tea for over 20 years but moved to Vancouver so tried the Vancouver Hotel (Fairmont) Christmas tea this year. Really disappointing . Way too much sweet and not enough savoury tea foods. Would strongly encourage Vancouver Fairmont to look at what Victoria Fairmont is doing!!!!! Then copy it!!!!

It was as if they were doing us a favour.... Mixed up our tea order... Did not know the various names of the different items on our tea trays.... Sandwiches and scones rwere hard and crumbly, as if they had sat out from the previous day or were left out for many hours before served to us. For the price, this was very disappointing and we will never return or recommend it.

Sub par high tea despite the reputation, wouldn't go again.
Ambiance was elevated, setup was luxurious and friendly service. Food, however, was very subpar. On our way to the Afternoon Tea we walked by the brunch buffet and the deserts on there look far more quality and interesting than our high tea deserts, which were made of too much cream and dry, artificially flavoured cake. Very expensive high tea that doesn't offer equivalent value; the quality from the dining experience doesn't translate. Sub par high tea despite the reputation, wouldn't go again.
