   La mia casa la tua casa. My house, your house. That is how I feel when I come to Toca. Tonight’s visit was a birthday celebration for our 20-yr-old daughter. Balloons at the table; handmade mocktails; ravioli caprese; porcheta; desserts (tiramisu, panna cotta, almond cake) with a birthday greeting, all under the watchful eye of Ali and the amazing service team. Visits to the table from the manager and assistant manager, reflecting the doting Ritz Carlton service ethos. It is hard to imagine how an experience could be better. This is a phenomenal restaurant and largely accessible because people in Toronto tend to trend away from hotel restaurants. Not me. This is my home away from home and first choice in a highly competitive scene. I’m not hiding this light under a bushel. Do yourself a favour and go — get the pasta (ravioli or carbonara), the branzino, ossobuco or porcheta, the tiramisu and panna cotta — enjoy the service and feel treated like part of the family that this place wants coming back time and time again.    Generally good experience and appreciated the waitress helping provide colouring books for my kids to keep them busy. It took some time to be served in terms of both orders and food delivery. I do hope this aspect improves on future visits.

   From the first contact we had when we arrived through all staff who came by the table their focus was on the customer. We were celebrating my friend's birthday (which I had noted in Open Table comments) and to a person each staff person wished her a happy birthday. They went out of their way to take pictures and to make sure we had an enjoyable evening even going so far as to make up a dessert that was on the menu but actually no longer included for their summer refresh. This is my third visit to TOCA and they never fail, in fact they keep improving!

    We were 5 vegetarians for dinner. It’s not usually easy to find a good selection of vegetarian options anywhere but Toca has several vegetarian items and between the 5 of us we tried virtually every vegetarian item on the menu. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal, portions were perfect and service was 5 star. We would highly recommend and will definitely return.

    We celebrated our son's 21st birthday at Toca and were treated like royalty from the moment we walked in. The staff warmly greeted us and our server, Lauren, was warm and inviting from the start of the night to the end. She was very knowledegable about the different wines available and was super well-versed on the entire menu. The food arrived in a timely fashion and was presented beautifully on our plates. All dishes were hot and incredibly flavorful. One of my daughters is also dairy-free + gluten-free and Lauren and the Toca team had plenty of alternatives to accommodate. After dinner, we were given a complimentary cheese board to share. As if that wasn't enough, Toca surprised us with a complimentary birthday dessert: a tiramisu and fragrant limoncello cake. The pastry chef also accommodated our daughter and prepared an almond sorbet (which tasted like real ice cream) and adapted their caprese cake to be gluten-free. At the end of the night, my son was given yet another surprise: a beautifully boxed set of cheese knifes. We then received a tour of Toca's cheese cave. Lauren knew so much about the various cheeses from around the world. We had an amazing evening out as a family of five and our son says this was the "most memorable birthday," with the food, exceptional service and personalized touch from the Toca staff to thank. We're grateful for the Toca family and especially Lauren, who always had a smile on her face during the 3+ hours we dined. Her kindness and charisma went a long way in making this an evening we will always remember. We can't wait to return soon! Kind regards, The Dhami Family

    It was one of our best experience of all the times! From the welcoming regards of the hostesses till the experience with the Chef Paul in the cheese aging area (making my wife’s bday even more special), it was all good!     It was a treat to see the restaurant buzzing tonight, with hotel guests, conference attendees and patrons, like us, who have settle on Toca for its quality and service. With the flawless service of Ali, the stalwart server whose soft hands have us coming back, Lauren, who sets the high water mark of the exemplary secret sauce of the Ritz Carlton service ethos, and the rest of the service team, we had a wonderful night out with friends. Burrata and fig, salad, poached pear salad, ravioli caprese (go just for this classic dish), grilled octopus, Osso Buco, a special branzio (complete with Chef’s visit to see how we liked it — it was spectacular), dessert platter (the tiramisu is amazing) and coffee served in a relaxed style, never rushed, never tardy. For those that don’t look at “hotel restaurants,” look again and put this on your list. Go for pasta. Go deeper into the menu. Just go. Thanks, Toca, we will be back.

    We had high expectations for Toca and were quite disappointed. The hostess was lovely and the restaurant is pleasant. Unfortunately we had to wait over ten minutes to have a waiter come and see us, and when he did, he was brusque and unfriendly. Our appetizers were ok, nothing special, and the mains were good. Dessert was terrible- dry and over baked cake that they call Baba au Rum. To top it off, we noticed some diners being given their desserts with a birthday candle. Even though it was my birthday, and this was noted on the reservation and mentioned by the hostess, our waiter clearly didn't bother to make the effort. At these prices, the Ritz should do better.

    Took almost 10 minutes for hostess to seat us for our 6pm reservation (restaurant wasn't busy). Another 5 minutes for server to acknowledge us. Salad wasn't very fresh. Pastas were ok but were swimming in sauce. Not the best experience we've had with TOCA. We had to go watch a show at 7:30pm, so the initial seating delay made the meal felt rushed.

    Fantastic experience from the lovely hostess greeting. We made her aware we were attending Hamilton after dinner and we did not have to let our server know, she did that. Our server was fantastic, the cocktails/mocktails and wine were great. The food was fantastic and we were in and out in the time we needed. We will be back for sure!
