I typically love this restaurant. This time, the food was not as good as usual. Our filet was cooked to perfection! The wood grilled shrimp was a total miss due to too much preservative (could both smell and taste it) and the shrimp was over cooked. The waiter offered us a new order, but we declined. The broccolini was mostly flowered out(more yellow buds than green). Our waiter was great. It is a nice atmosphere, but this particular evening the place was chilly.

Restaurant is set in an old bank which makes for a very cool vibe but old building acoustics lend contribute to being very loud. Food is amazing and open kitchen concept is fun to watch. Bar service was very slow. We waited over half an hour for our cocktails. Apps arrived first. They may have been short staffed (?) Will definitely go back !

The bolognese lacked any real meat. Only small bits a little disappointing for $30 pasta dish.

Sat at the bar Amanda bartender was great. She convinced us to stay at bar and have dinner at the bar. Once we said yes never saw her again , she was in corner talking . Someone came to take order and he messed up the appetizer . We had to ask for plates and silverware. 20 minutes later he asked for our food order and we placed it . Meanwhile 2 families come in and a gentleman sat next to us at bar. He places his order after we placed ours. Well all of these folks got their food and 45 minutes later still waiting. Asked to speak to manager and the excuse is they are busy . No , wrong answer. Just be honest and say the bartender forgot to send order over. Finally 55 minutes I get our order sad to say pasta wasn’t cook. Hard as anything! They take it back and my husband is eating his steak . Regret not going to a table. Amanda comes over and said don’t worry we’ll take it off bill ! The whole meal was a complete disaster. I have been here several times and it’s one of my favorites. I get every now and then a mishap . The manager came by and said we will take off bill. We are super busy. Super busy for a pasta dish ? When the guy next to me had Fri Diablo? Customer service sucked and very disappointed! Next time in town I will go to the Library! Very disappointed 😟

It’s a beautiful place in a great location. The food is good, but for the prices, it didn’t blow us away. I had the duck which was a bit undercooked and came in four pieces, two of which were extremely tough and hard to cut through. My husband had seafood fra Diavlo which was really good. The tuna tartar app was delicious and the bread was freshly baked and came with olive oil and fresh roasted garlic. The cocktail menu is also really interesting and good. All in all it was a decent experience, but I’ve had much better in the same or lower price range.

This was a business dinner with an initial introduction between a couple of senior executives, so there was a lot of discussion and probably less eating and drinking than a normal meal. I really appreciate that our server supported with patience and knowing when to check in and when to let the conversations happen. Outstanding support. Oh, and the food was delicious as usual. This is my favorite go-to restaurant when I am in the area, and it is also our CEO's favorite who lives in Portsmouth. So, it was a huge win when I selected it not knowing that. My only comment is that it is in fact a loud and "energetic" restaurant with no sound dampening in the wooden ceiling, so you have to be prepared for that if it is a business meeting. But I will still select it for such things and even more so for fun.
