This establishment has a great location in the buzzing and beautiful downtown Carmel area. While I hate to leave a bad review, hopefully it helps management turn this place into the great restaurant it has the potential to be. Improvements are needed for the service, food, and ambiance. Service wise, our server was nice, but not well trained. Our drinks were served after our food arrived (and after taking a long time to order in the first place). The server recommended adding shrimp to my pasta, but this was not received. He did not resurface until my meal was almost completed. When I asked about the shrimp, and requested salt for the very bland remaining food, the shrimp eventually arrived - nearly completely raw and had to be sent back. The salt never arrived and the food ultimately was not worth finishing. More wait staff and better trained cooks could help with these issues. Ambiance wise, the restaurant was very loud. Many hard surfaces with no soft surfaces to absorb sound. It was like screaming in a bar to be heard by friends across the table from us. Sound absorbing panels could be added if curtains, upholstered furniture, and more sectioned off areas were unwanted (this is on the designer of the space to some degree as sound should be considered). So....a lot of room for improvement, but I think the management can get there for sure. We will be back again in a few months to try again.

The food was ok, though dessert was superb. The inside dining area was not what I had anticipated - very steral in the back dining area. Perhaps because the front entry had such a vibe, that the back area felt that much more disappointing? I was surprised to find most diners in very casual attire.

Wait staff incredible. They came out and made the kids feel like royalty with coloring pages. Also received a comp tiramisu which was a nice surprise! Just feel like overall in the area that we have better options for Italian.

The Lobster Bisque was bland and luke warm. It had a thick coat of gelatin on top. The entree Skate was delicious.
