Formerly know as King Street Trio, TRIO Restaurant is a part of our evolution.

Visit our rejuvenated dining room & experience the best Waterloo Region has to offer. Chef Kyle and his team have been dreaming of ways to excite your palate! From Wagyu beef to the freshest fish & local produce, to our multi-course Tasting Menu, we are thrilled to have you back. Benoit, our restaurant manager, continues to build a wonderful selection of wines from around the world, with particular love for France. Wine pairing is offered with our Tasting Menu or just chose from our consignment focused wine list. Most of our wines are unique to our venue.

Theme nights are offered every two weeks on Wednesday's. These fun & flavour filled nights create an experience that will take you away from France to Mexico to Italy. Our theme nights are available for you every other week on Wednesday's.

    1st time dining experience to celebrate a birthday. It was beyond our expectations - food, service and overall experience. We all absolutely enjoyed the wagyu entree, the fresh bread offered with cheese spread as well as our appetizers - egg raviolo, oysters with beef and mackerel. Our waiter Alex was very attentive along with the rest of wait staff.

    Tonight was our first time at Trio and it far exceeded our expectations. We went for a very special occasion, knowing it was known as a fine dining spot in Waterloo. Benoit took amazing care of us and we splurged on the tasting menu and wine pairing menu. Every single course and pairing was exceptional as was the service. We will 100% be returning and this is a one of a kind gem.

    Food had more to be desired, but that is because I know what they can provide from my experience. It is still quite the experience and the food there is a delight. The appetizer was amazing, it was perhaps the best part of the meal that was offered that day, The salad dressing wasn't overpowering yet the toast with cheese was absolutely fantastic. For the second entree, we were given foie gras. I have never had foie gras in my life so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was great. They had a bit of spiced sponge-like bread with caramelized onion and fruit jam (forgot the exact details), and the combination worked great, and overall a very positive experience. That being said, I think it would've been nice to have something more refreshing and/or crisp, but that's just my opinion. For the main, they served duck confit with mushroom and bacon, unfortunately, the main dish had a bit more to be desired. It was overall a bit saltier than I would like, potentially because it was a confit and also the saltiness from bacon. My friend told me after we were done with the meal that his duck was tough, I don't know why he didn't bring it up as I don't doubt the restaurant would've tried to rectify that. However, my friend did love the mushroom, and he despises mushrooms for their texture and smell, so hats off to the chef for pulling that off. Desert was canneles, served with custard, chocolate, and shaved almonds which were a great finisher to all the meals. This was the second time that I have been to Trio, and they have always satisfied me with great food, ambiance, and great managers. I am looking forward to visiting Trio again in the near future :)

    Staff was amazing.Chose the tasting menu lovely way to dine and experience most of the menu. My compliments to the chef. The array of flavours present in each dish which were perfectly described my each staff that came. To the table. Atmosphere wis great for a special occasion!

This local gem truly raises the bar for culinary excellence, and their tasting menu with wine pairings was an unforgettable journey of flavors. To start, the oysters served as the perfect amuse-bouche, fresh and brimming with the taste of the sea. The tomato dish that followed was a work of art, with vibrant colors and a delicate balance of sweetness and acidity, leaving a lasting impression. Next came the Hamachi, which was a revelation in both texture and taste. The freshness of the fish was complemented flawlessly with an exquisite selection of wine, enhancing the overall experience. The halibut main course was a true highlight of the evening. The fish was flawlessly cooked, tender and succulent, and accompanied by a symphony of flavors from the carefully curated wine pairings. The pork dish that followed showcased the chef’s mastery of flavors, beautifully combining richness and tenderness in every bite.     The meal I chose was excellent. The flavours were unusual but wonderful. I would not have been able to make this meal at home. My husband is vegan so they were able to offer him several choices from the menu that they could change to accommodate him. The portions were a little small but delicious. Our server was attentive but gave us privacy

    Had a Tuesday special where the chefs do something different for a cheaper price (95$ for a 5-course meal instead of 135$) and $ 135$ with wine pairing. The waiters and waitresses were all very professional, and very attentive, and Benoit, the general manager, was a charming person that is very dedicated and enthusiastic about the dishes. The meal was fantastic, each course was very thoughtful, and the whole meal spoke for itself with the paired wine. I 100% recommend this place for special occasions, and if you wish to just try out the tasting menu for a bit cheaper price, try to check if they will have a special occasion on Tuesday!

    Great location that is easily accessible via public transportation. Equivalent to one Michelin star restaurant. My son and I ordered the tasting menu but it’s always nice to have an option to order a la carte.

    My partner and I went for an anniversary dinner and all of the food was delicious from start to finish. A lot of thought is clearly put into flavor pairings and portion size. All flavors worked together harmoniously and each course was perfectly sized so that we were just at the right level of being full without being uncomfortable. The staff is very attentive, engaging and friendly, and the seating is carefully thought out so patrons don’t feel crowded. A great venue for a special occasion.

    Food and service were great as usual. If I could point out one thing I didn’t like that much, it was the music. Personally I don’t think pop like “Top 100 hits” suits the ambiance very well. Hopefully the management team can put some thoughts into the play list going forward

    Another fabulous evening at Trio!! it was chef Mike’s last night at the restaurant, and everybody was giving him many well wishes for his upcoming adventure abroad. My husband had the Wagyu short rib, and I had the duck. That duck dish is the most incredible combination of flavours and the best duck I’ve ever had. The wagyu is so tender, it practically melts in your mouth, and the fries are amazing!! If you are a beef lover and haven’t had this Wagyu dish you really need to try it. I’m not even a beef lover and I love it. The new artichoke dish is delicious! Trio’s beef tartare is what made me love tartare! And the char with coconut green curry was a “lick the plate clean” dish, but we restrained ourselves. Lol. The peach Soju Mojito was an interesting twist on a traditional drink and I loved it. And of course I finished off the evening with my usual, espresso martini, to die for. Thank you to everyone at trio for another wonderful evening!

    We had an amazing time at Trio. The food was delicious and the reserve wine pairings were perfect for each dish. Thanks to Benoit and the Chefs for the fantastic and special experience - we really felt like everything was created custom for us.     As someone who values good food and dining experiences, I recently visited this restaurant that had received glowing reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Despite the restaurant being touted as "special," the menu was limited and lacking in any unique offerings. As a chef myself, I was particularly disappointed by the overall lack of proper seasoning and presentation was okay. The flavors of the dishes were bland and unmemorable, leaving a lot to be desired in terms of taste. Additionally, the prices were quite high, especially considering the mediocre quality of the food. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to others looking for a great/special dining experience. While the establishment may have some redeeming qualities, the lackluster menu and subpar execution make it difficult to justify the high prices. I am re-uploading this review as it has been taken down and the manager left me a voicemail for clarification.

    Enjoyed a fantastic tasting menu. Each dish was a culmination of elegant presentation and complimenting flavours. Extremely impressed. Benoit is the restaurant manager and his passion for food and drink are clear. We had the privilege of having him as our server, and the service was quick and well paced. Ps. Don’t hesitate to upgrade the tasting menu to include the waygu short rib.

    Love the location and have been here before. However, we found the initial service (being able to order a drink and ordering the meal) as well as the time for the meal to arrive were both very slow. Simply not in keeping with a restaurant of this caliber. Staff were friendly and food was good but the delays were obvious to us (clients) and the staff. Overall not the dining experience we were looking for particularly for a restaurant at this price level.

    Dining at this restaurant is not just dinner, it's an experience.....a journey that delights the senses. This is our second time visiting in a month and we will be back soon. The ingenuity and artistry that goes into creating these dishes is beyond my imagination. The dishes are so often flavours that I have never seen together before and the combinations just add an extra pop or zing that just dance in my mouth. The cocktails are next level and there seems to be a new one every time we go. I love the open kitchen and watching Mike and all the kitchen staff creating and plating the delectable dishes!! The wagyu melts in your mouth and the duck is absolutely the best I have ever tasted! And Benoit, the Restaurant Manager, is beyond amazing right from his warm and welcoming greeting, his plate descriptions, his cheerful, perfectly timed and gracious service to the finishing touches and the Bonne Soirée. This is definitely "our go to place" for fine dining.
