We had an amazing business dinner experience. Food and service all top notch. Everyone enjoyed their meal. 3 of us had the Alaskan King Crab (warm) and it was outstanding! So glad we chose this place. Super easy walk from the JW.

Truluck's is one of the few spots left in Austin that prides itself in providing above board service. Their staff are well trained, attentive and knowledgable. It seem to be a lost art but it make the biggest difference if you want to deliver a memorable experience. Thank you for taking the time to train your staff properly.

It was amazing!!! It's the perfect spot for any special occasion (birthday, anniversary, etc.) The only thing that caught me off guard was that I had requested seating on the second floor with a nice view, but when I got to the restaurant, all of the seating was occupied and he ended up having to sit on the first floor. The view was still really nice and everything looked super fancy, it was just a bit of a let down not being able to get to that second floor as requested. Would definitely come back again!!!

I have been going to Truluck since 2019 to celebrate my wedding anniversary. Always enjoyed it very much. Last night, there were a few things missing: There was nobody offering slices of cucumber, lime & others for the water. Also, it used to be that when we first came in we were congratulated about our anniversary.. That only happened at the table by the waiter. We did get our anniversary dessert. I was not able to eat all my food, so I took it home. The last detail missing was the little card from the Chef. Was it because of the new location? The day of the week? (Sunday) The fact is, I missed those little details. The food was excellent and so was the dessert

Hi everyone! Please be aware that this place is not always that good as you expect. My brother came all the way from Boston for a family dinner here in Austin in one used to be lovely restaurant Truluck. We’ve been in this restaurant before before they moved one block down the street. That time we had an amazing experience. But, this time we have not. As an upside they have a good kitchen, maybe even the same as it used to be, because the food was really good. But the level of service was really terrible. Server Nolan should be fired without the right to work in this industry. Should be cancelled, should be banned. His manager, the lady should follow. The reason why I may sound harsh is because these guys hate children and their clients. That kind of looks they gave all our company were so inappropriate that we asked for a manager. And Hector showed up- a hospitality manager. Really nice guy. But he is not in charge, don’t have any power over Nolan or his b***y manager. Nolan and his manager took away the plate from the baby. The one they put on the table before you arrive, so you would feel that you’ve been awaited. That is touchy and very thoughtful. But leaving one plate for a baby is not a big deal especially given the fact that he just like flashy little things which calm him down. They don’t have a highchair, they allow children though and I left a note saying we would be with a baby and a stroller. But leaving a plate made from foil was so big of a deal that they ruined all our dinner over it:) I mean they didn’t but tried very hard anyway. Hector and the kitchen saved it. One star is given only because people should know how bad your experience may be if you all of the sudden don’t fit. We were nicely dressed, anticipated to spend a perfect night with our family. So Nolan and his manager can go to hell for ruining people’s dinners. That didn’t work just so you know. But you guys are the worst and people should know that.

One of the most boring bland dining experience I have had. The space is too big, cavernous with no soul. Not Austin at all. I love nice beautiful decor, but this place feels so sterile. Funny the had a DJ and you could barley hear the music. I asked the DJ why it was so quiet, he said mgmt wouldn’t let him turn up the volume. Why is he even there? Restaurant was half empty in a Thursday night and Service was slow and uninspired. All the servers looked like the walking dead- all seemed to know this restaurant was doomed. No enthusiasm or passion. Our server never even asked if we enjoyed our food. Oh and the food was very ordinary and bland. Miso sea bass was dry and very little flavor. Was hoping for more, so kind of bummed. Austin has so many other outstanding restaurants - I fear Trulocks days are numbered.

So sad to say the new place suffers by comparison to the old place! The service is now horrible and the food came out cold and they forgot to give us napkins and silverware too. So strange. It was $300 too. We miss all the old people at the other place. They all left and the new staff does not do as good of a job as the more seasoned staff they had before. We went there for years weekly but will not be going back! Dean’s is way better !

The Bar people Tony, Kylie, and Nina were amazing! Our server, Patrick was a bit judgemental and condescending towards us while we were ordering our food. Also, My wife said the sea bass tasted fishy and she had to get a different dish. Overall the the Bar staff and the table we sat at were amazing. It took them a while to get us seated though due to the guest before us so that was a bit frustrating but the table was well set up.

We have been going to Truluck's Downtown Austin for as long as it has been open and have considered it one of the few "posh" restaurants in town. It has always been quiet, service always attentive (water glasses filled, offering cucumber, lime, lemon, or orange slices in your water), white tablecloths on the tables. So, this was our first visit to their new location and we were anticipating a "Wow" response. Sadly, no. No more tablecloths, too loud and too pop music. Water glasses not filled. No offerings of slices in the water. Entrees came out way before salads were completed and salad plates cleared. For the most part, the food itself was up to par with Truluck's history, however, the broccoli was so over-spiced that none of the 4 of us enjoyed it and it had to be sent back. I always thought the bar area in their former location was one of the truly beautiful bars in town: horseshoe shaped, dim-lighting, bar tables off to the side. In their new location it is a standard straight bar with booths and standard height tables and the lighting was too bright. The highlight of the dinner was their new sommelier, Hector! Wow. A true gentleman who hails from San Sebastian, Spain with a lifetime of experience serving wine and it shows. Sorry, nothing against young, smart American sommes, but there's something about gravitas and maturity and experience that is priceless. Good job on that Truluck's, but please retool and bring back the posh and the crisp attentive service!

Host service was fantastic. Table service was adequate but on sluggish side. For price, food was mediocre. Crime Brûlée - yummy. The new location is clearly going for the club-contemporary-trendy vibe. Music changes at 9 feeling like it’s reaching for the younger later crowd. Fine, but for a nice steak and seafood restaurant? It seems to be a good example of form over function unless they’re striving for a newer, hipper, younger vibe. It felt like a location where bottle service could be ordered. Shiny silver plateware is a bit gaudy and menus that light up are a little gimmicky. I miss the classiness and atmosphere of the old location.

It was one of my greatest restaurant experiences to date. Primarily because of the customer service and the ambiance. The food presentation was superb. I also appreciated the various staff members acknowledging our anniversary. We were well taken care of!!! It was an unforgettable experience. Oh, and the wine was yummy!

Love the new decor! I think this is probably now the most formal atmosphere for dining in Austin. It was really nice to get dressed up for a change! Crystal chandeliers. Four foot floral arrangements and lots of booths. There is a dress code that is enforced. My adult son was asked to remove his hat. I thought that was great! So if you can't dine without your cowboy or baseball hat or remember what a dress code is...eat somewhere else. The menu is still classic Trulucks and the service was outstanding. We had one issue with the trout but it was rectified, hence the 4 stars. We won't hesitate to return.

How anyone leaves here with less than an amazing opinion about their service is beyond me!!! In a time where service pretty much sucks everywhere we have come to expect mediocrity! Truluck’s has it figured out! If you want to feel special from the time you walk in the door until the day after when they call you to check in on your experience….THIS is your place. The hosts were amazing and our server Phil was also great! Food was good too. If you want a special experience, book your table now. They will call you by name when you walk in the door!

We recently dined at Trulock's and were thoroughly impressed by the entire experience. From the moment we entered, it was clear that this would be no ordinary dining experience. The standout feature was undoubtedly the food. Seafood, often a challenge to get right, was a highlight here. The calamari was crispy and fresh, with exceptional sauces that added depth to the dish. The lobster stuffed with crab was a revelation—perfectly prepared (tender, not rubbery) and so flavorful. The flavors throughout the meal were exceptional. We just returned from Italy and have to say Trulock's risotto, was creamy and expertly cooked, it was a standout. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, maintaining the proper texture while offering a delightful taste. Service was impeccable, exuding a classic charm and understanding of the cuisine. Each dish was served with precision and care, enhancing the overall experience for us. The ambiance of Trulock's contributed to the experience. We kept commenting on how the restaurant reminded us of the dinner party prior to our wedding - the lighting set the right mood, and the whole vibe was intimate yet inviting. Not a 'miss' on this experience and fully excited to endorse Trulock's.
