It’s nice that they have a secluded thematic area for reservations, but service was pretty much nonexistent after the food arrived. Also, giving your guests cheap plastic cutlery to use for “high tea” really takes away from the food and experience.
Just go and get take out dessert without any reservation. The additional menu items arent as tasty as the basic items from the to go stand
Nice quiet place for tea and snacks. They have a few items not available in the take-out area.
Late opening was disappointing and the seat mates were noisy. The food and service was just so so this time.
Overall food is great and the waitresses are nice. Just some basic simple tips to get a 5 star from me... Offer dishes for sharing as it was awkward trying to dig into the ochazuke from a distance. (The ochazuke was in the centre of the table.) You already knew to give us our own spoons and chopsticks, why not our own dishes? Also ochazuke is a savory item. The high tea set is sweet. If customers order both, it is likely they intend to eat them as meal and dessert. If you're not sure, you can always ask. You should serve the high tea set after the ochazuke. Not the same time. So it was even more awkward as my friend had to reach over the dessert to eat the ochazuke as the ochazuke is moved to my side. Finally, we weren't offered glasses of water at all until we asked for them when it should be a standard to have them on our table in the beginning.
Overall we enjoy the food and will definitely be back to try other items. It isn't such a big deal to us that we put up with the awkwardness, but since I've been invited to write a review, then I will provide my honest opinion instead of sugarcoating things. We are quite satisfied otherwise :)
Seated promptly. Food was fresh and delicious. Tried the matcha parfait. Would order again. We also ordered the matcha soufflé. It was not bad but I’d not reorder it. The salmon and rice dish was good and price was very reasonable. The hojicha/green tea shake can be ordered at the front counter. We always go back for that! The tea was okay but I still prefer the hojicha shake.
I highly recommend houjicha over matcha. My fav is a houjicha float and a mochi. We also got a little birthday treat which was very nice. (I forgot that I said it's for my husband's birthday celebration when making a reservation but appreciate that they actually read and paid attention to it.) XD
Waited 3 months for my table. I should've checked the menu before booking. Soba is only available after 5pm. I'll try again next time. Overall it was worth it. I really enjoyed my time there. I'm satisfied 😋
Tsujiri is a nice enjoyable place. The best thing is the ambiance.
We had the pancake souffle, and original matcha parfait. The food was okay. Good texture and taste, but price was high for what it entailed.
This place is worth going once to try it out though.
good date ya
They open at 200pm and we were there 330pm and they ran out one of two choices of tea. They mention specific percent for tips for 6 or over. But their service was not there to deserve it. Since we only got spoons for the salads they served us. We have to ask for forks.
If you are green tea fans, you must go there to try their drink and dessert. Don't order their noodle and rice, bad taste.
Last time I just tried the desserts. This time I tried the lunch menu too. The dishes looked so beautiful and all the food were great. Also, their service was good. I will try the dinner next time.
We made reservations. The cakes and food were really delicious but that's about the only good thing about this place. Service was really lacking and they ran out of clean plates within an hour of opening so it was hard to share our cakes. The table was really tiny and uncomfortable for 3 people. You'd think a shop that has been open for 5 months would have worked out the kinks already but apparently not. But I guess since this place is still very popular with line ups all the time, there's no pressing need for them to improve their service.
Always great place to bring family and guests. Matcha drinks are Intense and only very lightly sweetened. Opera cake still a great selection.
I like the matcha rare cheesecake~ the souffle is also pretty good, little bit bitter because of matcha.
I have gone to visit 3 times and each time has disappointed me. The food has been delicious but the disappointment each visit has left me with an overall poor experience. The first visit was a few months after opening, there was still a long lineup out the door. Arrived shortly after opening and ended up waiting for over an hour and the treats we wanted were either not available or sold out.
The first reservation date was reviewed previously so I will no mention it.
We came back the third time and final time because I wanted High Tea and hoping that we can get a second shot at the Tonkotsu Soba. We were informed that the Soba's aren't served until after 5pm and that was the final straw. While the food I cannot repeat enough was good, the disappointments outweighed everything else. If there were posts in the store and especially on the menu indicating items were "Limited quantities" or "Available only after 5" we would be more understanding but I can only say this was overhyped and my patience has been tested time and time again that I can't really recommend this place unless you were in the area and were passing by, otherwise I would say there are other places worth checking out instead.
The parfaits were delicious. Also shared a high tea with a friend, but I would rather get a few cakes than the high tea.
Afternoon tea not worth the two month waiting time
The desserts were all very delicious but expensive
Get together with family
The staff were chatting and did not notice when we arrived for the table. They were not facing to us during our dining so couldn't notice what we needed until we caught them and asked for. Once we asked for it, they are polite enough and did their job properly. Just hope they will be more attentive and improve their customer service. Food was OK but matcha flavor was too weak for us especially the matcha souffle. Pricey but we so love their cakes.
Very poor service.
We’re huge afternoon tea people and it was something we’d definitely all the way back to Richmond to dine at again
We went to Tsujiri for the afternoon tea set, I would strongly recommend reserving on open table because they are usually fully booked. I love the mochi that comes with the afternoon set and the matcha!
The presentation of the food was amazing. The service was expectional. I personally preferred the savoury more than sweet. The rice was fagrant and tasty. Their green tea parfait was quite good.
Service was top notch. No complains. Lucky for us nothing was sold out yet since it was snow day and not too busy overall. Soba and udon were delicious. Souffle pancake was excellent. Glad i made resos 3 weeks in advance to enjoy this much anticipated opening.
The place was over rated by social media. I guess its a new concept and newly opened thats why there’s a big line up because there ONLY few seats for customers to eat and enjoy their food. But how can they enjoy when you fall in line for a long long tome and you ended up having your food for take out because theres no table/seat to eat and enjoy your food.
The server was very nice and accomodating.
The ambience was appropriate for a Japanese theme food resto but Only FEW chairs/tables.
If you want to enjoy your food get a reservation which is always FULL!!!
Price is a bit pricey
FOod is not as good as priced!
I found the overall experience disappointing. After we were shown to our table, we were asked to remove our shoes though the area under the table was dirty with dust and hairs. We ordered the afternoon tea set and matcha soufflé pancake. We found both dishes lacking. I would not go out of my way to go back again. I think they need to work on the finer details, like nicer napkins, cups, cutlery and plates. The matcha latte priced at 6.50 are served in paper cups.
The Chatsuke n pancake was so good！ the matcha opera is little bit too sweet. They dont have the highest grade matcha yet， you can only have the usucha when u order the hightea set
Simply delicious. Will be back again
We ordered Unagi chazuke and Japanese high tea. It was good taste, good value and nice atmosphere.
Loved it! The crazy opening rush of people unfortunately detracted from the atmosphere, but I’m sure it’ll be wonderful once the hype dies down. Would reserve and go again for a leisurely tea time!
We made our reservation for 3pm got there on time. And she said on her end it said 3:30pm. Told us to come back at 3:30pm. So we just stood there waiting. Got seated at 3:25ish ok whatever. Ordered. The parfait took half an hour itself. Then the souffle pancake I had to ask her after an hour and a half where it was. And she said they dropped it and is currently making us a new one. I feel like if she knew why didn't she tell us instead of having me ask? Overall this meal took 2.5 hours which is totally uncalled for.
hightea set require booking in advance. Great sitting area and wonderful service.
Like that the souffle was not sweet at all but has a slightly bitter matcha essence. Yuzu matcha was refreshing and goes great with meals and desserts to balance the sweetness. Like the service here, they try to be attentive even though so busy.
Wonderful matcha feast. Everything was very delicate and simple but flavorful. Only downside is the whole setup is a bit confusing. Waitresses are very patient in explaining menu and business operations.
