TWG Tea Salon & Boutique
I went here with my friend & everyone that worked there was so kind and checked up on us even when we were just waiting for a table to be cleared for us. The food was delicious and I was recommended a tea after telling the server what kinds of tea I usually drink & I loved the recommendation! After tax, it was a bit over $50 per person for our tea time but I think that is very fairly priced compared to some other places. Can’t wait to go again
such a relaxing setting to come in and enjoy a chat with friends while enjoying some tea.
The atmosphere was ok and the the selection of food is wide. However, the service is very lacking considering this is a place for High tea. Food portion was small, which was expected, but when paired with slow, unattentive service it simply doesn't live up to the TWG name. Quality of food is fine, but considering the price its underwhelming.
Bad service and hospitality
This was the greatest experience I have ever had at a restaurant in vancouver. The ambiance was outstanding. It felt like I was in a movie. The tea had vast flavours and was enjoyed by all my group members accompanying me. The service was great. Each server had a smile on their face, and clearly enjoyed explaining each tea’s flavour; as well as other menu items. I was so pleased with my experience I had to ask our servers name. Her name is sakura, and I highly recommend asking for her as a server. The price is high but is well worth the cost. I recommend taking your family here for a special occasion. The experience will be a lasting memory
The value is way below what you get at other tea salons - we had the Chic tea service and the sandwiches were so tiny and not that great. Then there were 2 scones (tiny) with butter and jam. There were no desserts included. We were so disappointed in the experience. Service was non existent - they took our order and delivered it and never came back to see if we liked it or wanted more hot water etc.
Came here for lunch entree and was told that purchasing a $12 cup of tea was mandatory-- although I was ordering a $26 salad. I didn't want tea with my meal; was then told I had to purchase a mocktail or sparkling water-- but they were sold out of both! The chicken salad was disappointing- hugely overpriced for a bit of wilted romaine and strangely presented chicken. After waiting had to ask for bill. There are too many other great options for downtown dining, won't be back.
The staff is not educated on the menu and preparation of food
They offer a variety of tea menus with all of their sandwiches infused with their teas. The sandwiches included foie gras, lobster and chicken in what looks like a mini ice cream cone. They were all very good. They also have over 100 varieties of tea.
Lovely experience. Scones outstanding. Food in general very tasty and well presented. Great atmosphere and wonderful elegance
Excellent service and the female server always attended to our need. We will definelty revisit that restaurant again in the future .
We visited when the restaurant first opened during a slow weekday morning. There were only a few tables seated and plenty of space in the front section of this restaurant. They seated us in the back room alone across the kitchen with their kitchen door opened. It was noisy and the garbage can was exposed. I was expecting a quiet and clean atmosphere to enjoy our tea and breakfast.
We ordered a lobster and prawn sandwich, macarons, chocolate cake and two pots of tea. We started with macarons, they were delicious. Then they gave us the lobster sandwich, it was delightful but as we approached with our last sandwich, we saw one fly crawling on our sandwich and other flies were flying in the room. We waited for a long time unattended until we were able to call one of the waitress. After this experience, we would never visiting this restaurant again. We felt there is a food safety concern with this restaurant.
Launch with colleagues and order tea and food individually, foods were very good, and tasted kinds of tea ordered by each person was a special experience in this store.
The launch was at reasonable price.
This was booked for a special celebration. Service was lack lustre. At the end we were waiting and waiting for a box to get food packed up. We asked twice for the box. While waiting the main server was rude and told us to hurry up so they could seat more people. I guess he thought we were lingering.
The tea was delicious. It was served in elegant tea pots. However, the Chic tea was mediocre food. Nothing memorable or amazing.
Will try somewhere else next time.
10/10. Service impeccable. Food was extremely good.
Had a great time.
Love the food and service
Food came at a good temperature, and efficiently. Again the tea selection is, second to none. To the point you can't easily decide on which tea to choose. Staff is knowledgeable on the different teas.
The ceremony of high tea was only loosely observed. I found the service to be very friendly, but distracted and not always timely. For example, I had a cup poured about five minutes before my friend and wife had their teapots brought out, so my cup was tepid by the time they poured. Perhaps a tea light to keep things warm would be helpful for future instances where it's very busy?
Despite this, the food was outstanding. We had a hard time picking favourites from each platter. Great work with the signature dishes.
I might be persuaded to bring friends back if I had a discount, but otherwise I'm more likely to try out other places before I settle on whether I'd prefer to return.
Server was very attentive. I have tried their tea set, breakfast and other items. They were all very good especially the breakfast and pasta! Their mocktails are very nice too.
Again, just to say.....Thank you for a fantastic time!! We will be back!! Food, service, tea selection, all came together to create a masterpiece!!
For a luxury tea salon, we found the service just adequate.
The tea was warm and it was not steeped enough for full flavour. For 11$plus per pot, you would expect a hot cup of tea. We had breakfast and the food also arrived just warm.
Overall, the ambience won over the food and service.
I have special request: I'm ANAPHYLAXIS to sesame. 90 minutes prior to my reservation time, the manager called me to inform that they can not guarantee a free sesame food due to cross contamination.
Was very disappointed for the late noticed. Eventhough I reserve 1 week prior to.
The tea is great but warm. Have to asked the server to heat up our tea.
This is the worst experience I ever had at a afternoon tea place, the server does not know their tea.. 8 out of the 10 tea we picked from the list are not available ( or the server is just too lazy to get them for us)
Server was very pushy to force us to decide on the menu selection.. even with which tea set we are going to get.
When we were sat down.. it took over half an hour for our server to let us decide the tea we want.
The food quality was below average, and tea are not refillable, even with hot-water.
We picked the west coast set and the seafood was not fresh ..
The server was not knowledgeable nor pleasant to talk to..
totally feel the attitude that they did not want to serve the customer..
Overall, this is not what the place use to be.. the standard had drop below average.. will not come back again
The scones and apricot jelly are the best on the menu and are a must-try if you’re having bitter tea. The macarons are okay and should be ordered only if you really enjoy macarons. Otherwise, go for the non-macaron finger food and scones.
As much as the food was delicious, they didn't have many of the items we had originally wanted to order. Service was nice and the place looks amazing though.
We enjoyed every moment, from walking in, to receiving our food, and till we walked out the door. We will be returning!! Tea selection is second to none!! Friendly and courteous staff!!
They took so long for everything
Awful experience just not organized, too slow... nobody knew what they were doing
poor service, long wait for food, did not have basic dessert that appeared on their menu.
were told it was a birthday but ignored it completely.
waste of time and money!
Long story short - ordered the chocolate cake. The chocolate garnish had a strand of hair built in to the chocolate. I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t break off the chocolate before eating it. Called the server to let them know, then they bring the manager to inspect, asked me if I wanted another cake or take it off the bill. I took the latter, but they never apologized for it. If I do ever go back I probably will never order anything with chocolate in/on it.
Terrible service, no attention to customers. They just take your order don't ask how the food is or if you want anything else. Many items such as the orange juice and mocktails were unavailable...then why have them on your menu? Trump, Parq and Fairmont are much better choices for High Tea!
Service was not as good as before, did not give me spoons and took forever to pay the bill (it wasn't busy). I ordered a signature tea set, and usually they tell you what each item is. They just dropped it and left. Didn't even give me a spoon for my pudding. Seems like a lot of employees are new..
I went with friends for a traditional English tea - this was NOT even close.
Nice food, lots for selections. It’s quite, nice place to have a brunch. Service is good, definitely will go again
Great place to have tea even there are other places but I always go there and Manger is great with his service...
Such a beautiful relaxing place for a Sunday afternoon. Only downside was service was slow at times, and I had to ask for assistance instead of the staff offering assistance with food suggestions or tea suggestions.
First visit at TWG was disappointing. Felt rushed to order then at 1.5 hrs mark, we were rush to leave as the male server stated we have to wrap up due to another reservation. High tea was reserved for 2 pm and person came by at 3:25 pm stating we need to finish in 5 mins so they can accommodate for another party. There were 3 other empty tables. Signature set was fair, although tea selection was great. Not worth the travel to downtown for such service. Not to mention table cloth had a hole for an acclaimed high end tea salon. What a shame. Will not be returning anytime soon.
They changed the sablefish menu from the last time I ate there so that was a tad disappointing. Otherwise generally a quiet place to eat.
Extremely disappointed with TWG service on my recent visit. The manager is extremity rude and we won’t go back this restaurant any more.
Amazing experience, the food was delicious, the scones out of this world. It’s a fancy, but cozy restaurant. The attention was excellent.
It was nice. Quiet and nice servers. However at one point we had to remind the team that we have nut allergies. Overall good. Could have had more help with the menu and knowledge of staff.
