I really do like the ambiance and the food was delicious. Two things I was surprised in was the fact that it was mothers day and they had no special menu for mothers and nothing for kids. Live music was a tad too loud, hard to have a conversation and daughter covered her ears.
Great food. Wonderful service. Family photo taken to commemorate Mother’s Day was a nice touch!
Great dining room for my home away from home at Walper. The food is savory and tasty, uses solid ingredients, and is delivered by a wait staff that make every effort to make guests feel at home and well taken-care of from start to finish. Danielle greeted my during my last visit, after arriving straight from a cross-continental flight, and remembered me as soon as I walked in months later. I couldn’t feel like more of the family! Two hearty thumbs up for the food, and three for the staff, especially Darnell, Danielle, and Taylor. Kudos!
Very enjoyable evening, the waiter was terrific, very knowledgeable and a funny guy with a very pleasant demeanor. We will definitely go again and are already making plans with other friends to go one night soon. Would recommend to others in a minute.
Only concern was noise level. They were very busy so service a little slower than norm. Food was worth the wait.
Love the ambiance. Great place to relax, catch up with people important to your life. Delicious brunch on a cold Saturday morning.
The waitress was happier to speak with friends than serve her customers. We waited over half an hour for dessert. Food was delicious, props to the chef! They should be hiring more servers if the one they do have can’t manage without stopping to speak with everyone she sees.
Just picked this restaurant due to proximity to Centre in the Square. Very happy with everything. Food, service, ambiance. All excellent.
Three of the 9 guests ordered the Buddha bowl. The food came quite cold the first time. After requesting that it be re-made, they did and it was delicious. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to eat with the rest of our friends as we had to wait for our food to be made again. Had it been removed from the bill, my overall rating would’ve been a lot higher. I do think however, that the restaurant has a good atmosphere and is worth trying. 3 stars.
We ordered our meal, took awhile to get the appetizer, when we got our steaks they were cold. The waitress and manager were good about it took them back and made us entire new plates which were hot. We didnt receive any comp drink or discount on the meal.
For as busy (or not as busy) as the restaurant was, the service seemed quite slow. The kitchen forgot items in two of the starters, and mixed up a side order.
However, the food was delicious, and the staff were friendly.
Great atmosphere, we were a group of 6. The food was pretty good. Only complaint for the food is steak is cooked from a frozen state so that affects the cook/preference. As for the alcoholic beverages..my group found the alcohol light handed. Overall a great experience with great service.
Asked for bar seating and we got out in a corner back table not in the bar. Service was bad. Waiter was bad. The people behind us asked for another server after they had him and had been offended by him ( I didn’t hear the whole thing so won’t comment on that). Normally good but we will e a long while returning
Great Ambiance! Excellent Oysters! We enjoyed our meal. A wonderful Venue! It was worth the drive from Guelph!
We were at the TWH for a staff member leaving our department. Excellent food and great environment. They were very accommodating in regards to ensuring the food was prepared in accordance to the food sensitivity our group of people had. Excellent server. A very enjoyable time.
Delicious food, friendly atmosphere.
The food was very good, the problem is the drinking water or the glasses they use. They have a very bad chemical smell. From speaking to other people this does not seem to be a new problem , management just does not want to address it. They also seem short in staff
We were a group of 6 with a reservation and sat at the end of the bar. We weren't in a hurry, but were virtually ignored most of the evening. The food, when it did arrive, was very good, but it did take quite a long time. Very disappointing experience tonight.
Was there on feb 23. Food and dinks were great. Live music was fantastic.
Great! Nice busy place with good service and a really awesome menu
TWH Social is one of my favourite restaurants which is why I was disappointed in my most recent visit. I very rarely leave reviews (usually only for amazing service) and I’m not very picky, but I want this place to be my favourite restaurant again. I visited twice one week apart and the service and food during the second visit were less than stellar. First, the server made no effort to be friendly or welcoming and the only half smile he cracked was when we were paying the bill. I made every effort to smile at him while we there and was very polite, but he was very unfriendly and unapproachable. Secondly, I ordered the steak frites, but the quality of the meat was similar to a steak I could have purchased at the grocery store and the fries were so over salted that I couldn’t finish them. Again, I was super disappointed because that meal is why we went to TWH in the first place. Lastly, we were there celebrating a birthday and had included that on the reservation. We even had birthday gifts at the table that we were opening while the server dropped of the food, but when it came time to the end of the night, our server did absolutely nothing to help us celebrate. I definitely don’t expect restaurants to provide a free birthday dessert (or do something to celebrate), but it’s always a pleasant surprise when they do. The only reason I’m mentioning this is because I was there the week before celebrating another birthday and the server did bring out a free dessert. Overall, the service definitely need improvement and I really hope that this is a one-off experience since I really do enjoy going for the food and ambiance.
Great atmosphere but, cost compared to other bars is astronomical.
Great food and cool place, drinks were also perfect
Made our Valentine's day dinner an awesome experience. We had a delicious meal and everyone was so helpful and ready to help make the day so much more special. Kudos to TWH Social for handing out roses to all the ladies, it was an awesome touch :)
I’ve never been treated so rudely by any waiting staff in my life. You work in a service industry. You’d think basic respect for other human beings are required. Clearly not for us...
Great overall experience. Good food. Good portions. Good price. Overall satisfied and will return again!
It was an excellent evening! Great service and food! It was our third visit. We will be back!
I loved the ambiance of the place ! It has that romantic rustic look which is amazing . I had the lamb burger which was great . Would go there again
We had good service and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. I had the Spinach and Ham Bruschetta and was a little disappointed. the bread was really crusty on the outside which made it really frustrating to cut, the piece of ham was really small and there wasn't enough hollandaise sauce. I was excited about ordering this plate as I LOVE eggs benedict; it was a little anticlimactic for me. My niece ordered the same dish and had the same comments. That said, 2 of our group frequent the restaurant (weekly basis) and love what they get but do order the same dish every time. One of our group had the Chicken Waffles and really enjoyed it and as I said, the rest of the group for the most part seemed to enjoy their food. The prices were fair.
Simply put in one word, Exquisite! I need to put 50 Characters in so... I'd say definately check this place out, everything is imperfectly perfect! Well that's more than 50 characters but oh well lol!
Everything was great but we were there for a date and they sat us right next to the bar. It got really loud at several occasions.
Our waiter was tall, hirsute, folksy, intelligent (was able to figure out which of six of us were a couple), funny, interactive, good memory, tall, hirsute, folksy, intelligent, funny, interactive, good memory, tall etc. etc. etc. etc. and then some, then some more words, even more words, can you believe it? Words piled on words!
I have had lunch at Social twice, and dinner twice and was thrilled with the food, ambiance and service. This time we had brunch for my daughter's birthday and the service was substandard. She was not knowledgeable (she did not know if they carry decaffeinated coffee!!??) and service was very slow - about 15 minutes till beverages were served, no offers of refills on coffee, and the food took about 50 minutes to arrive. The quality of the meal was inconsistent. While a couple of the dishes were quite good (Portobello sandwich and waffles), one was average (green bowl) and one subpar (pasta). I will go to Social again, but not for brunch.
Great concept, kool space, wonderful team but the table was really wobbly and the stools were little and almost wicker like so not comfortable. The oysters were great but the burger was well very well done, drying out. And the gnocchi was only ok... I know they have a premium chef so either he wasn’t working or expediting or he had a Bad night is say
Food was fantastic. The Restaurant was really noisy - made it difficult to carry on a conversation. Service was a bit slow; however wait staff were very nice
We had an awesome meal and the waiter was awesome. Friendly and fun!!
The food was good. The biggest problem was that the beer menu was out of date and the server kept having to say"We don't have that" which was embarrassing for her and us because of the number of items involved. It would have been easier (and way better) to print off a substitute menu for beer. We would not have minded an extra sheet of paper to avoid this awkward situation.
We enjoyed five delicious meals in our group. The server was very enthusiastic and the ambiance was relaxing.
We were greeted at the entrance and, having mentioned it in our Open Table reservation on-line, were wished a Happy Anniversary :)
The resto had a great energy on Saturday night. Lots of conversation but not overly loud in my opinion. Our waiter, Miro (sp?) was friendly, attentive and helpful with our menu choices. Our food was delicious! I had the featured catch of the day, Rainbow Trout with Scallop Risotto and my husband had the Steak Frites. Both were excellent. Evening topped off with a complimentary piece of dense and rich chocolate cake on a slate wishing us Happy Anniversary! A nice surprise. Since we were staying at The Walper Hotel we returned the next morning for brunch and it was equally excellent. Interesting and eclectic brunch choices! So good.
Through no fault of TWH staff, a party of 25-30 wedding goers gave 30 minute notice for brunch. They desperately need a coffee maker that can produce more cups of quality coffee quicker. All coffee was made 'Americano' which takes too long when there is a large number of clients.
I remember when the Walper Terrace restaurant (going back 25 years) used to have the BEST buffet brunch I have ever experienced ... so was a little disappointed to find it was a la carte!
The staff did the best they could and were very pleasant - careful to tactfully manage expectations - they really were resourceful and I hope others tipped as well as we did because of that!
