Located in the picturesque village of Cayuga, about 25 minutes south of Hamilton, Twisted Lemon is often described as a "hidden gem", which attracts a faithful following of 'flavour junkies' and experienced diners from far and wide.
Featuring a lively open-concept kitchen in a tasteful and eclectic ambiance, Executive Chef Dan Megna (Host of Cable 14's 'Hamilton Eats' and 'Real Food Sexy') creates dishes which are well thought out in their design. Careful consideration is put into each dish, intended to illuminate all of the senses and offer depth and balance in flavour and texture.
Now in its ninth year, Twisted Lemon offers private dining, extensive on and off-site catering, private cooking classes and much more.
PLEASE NOTE: Our Wednesday night "Date Night Tasting Menu" will be on hold through the Fall & Holiday season, we look forward to bringing it back in the new year!
DECEMBER HOURS: Lunch: Wednesday - Friday: 11:30am - 2:00pm ; Dinner: Tuesday - Thursday: 5:00pm - 8:30pm, Friday: 5:00pm - 9:30pm, Saturday: 4:30pm - 9:30pm
Everything was excellent but the time to wait on food was longer than we expected. Reservations for 6:45 and we did not finish until close to 10pm. While I like to sit and enjoy my meal, 3hours was a bit long for our liking.
It was wonderful to enjoy a lovely meal and visit with our good friends. We just moved back to the area this summer and the Wagjag was a treat purchased by our daughter as an anniversary gift to us. It was fantastic to eat at a place that has high reviews. It was such a pleasure, truly to eat great food and know that we are blessed with a Restaurant who shares the same visions as Me!! We will be back.
Fantastic wine menu and absolutely delicious food. The owner and staff are very personable and a pleasure to talk to. Twisted Lemon does not dissappoint!
Always a pleasure!! Great food and pleasant staff. Were able ro readily accommodate my dairy sensitivity and still make it taste fabulous
No words describe this hidden Gem in Cayuga. I feel blessed living 2 mins away... I’m never disappointed and never leave hungry or feeling like I needed more. Definitely flavour junkies. Do not be afraid to try something new like wild boar, lamb shank or a flavourful dessert!! Definitely worth the money and any occasion I can think of to get there!! Our ultimate favourite place ❤️
Food was okay. Pasta overcooked and soft. Service a bit slow. We were there an hour and just had our appetizer to that point. Too many repetitive items ie: deep fried taco style twists as a complimentary appetizer, taco's made out of same fried material and then a triange of fried taco material to decorate the dessert. Needs better imagination.
Was an overall OKAY experience.
Would not likely return.
Another amazing meal at this fabulous restaurant. One minor critique, no salt on the Panko encrusted tomatoes.
Always a lovely experience to eat at Twisted Lemon. The wait staff as so attentive, kind and special. The chef takes time to speak to us. And the food is so delicious.
Great first time experience. We've been meaning to come here for a long time but it is a bit of a drive so we've never made it until now. Bought a WagJag for a prix fixe for two so that sealed the deal, we had to come now! After we ordered we had a look at the regular menu and felt that we'd need to return four times but after our meal we upped that to five times because we both want the lamb shanks again, lol. Can't wait to try some of the other offerings.
The food was very good, but the perch tacos could have used a bit more seasoning. All the portions were rather small. The fettuccine were excellent and very juicy. Unfortunately, I was told I couldn't have a slice of bread to dip in the juices. Also, I asked for lemon for my tea, and was told that, like the bread they didn't have any. I was disappointed, and, I'm not sure I would recommend this restaurant to friends.
Delicious as always - a couple of new additions to the menu which is exciting to see. Love sitting by the kitchen and watching chef & staff workaway. Would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting delicious food with a creative touch.
Our favourite “go to” dining experience!!! I highly recommend it to all you foodies out there. Chef Dan won’t disappoint you.
One suggestion. Please avoid using mums as table flowers. Not good for hay fever season.
We’ve been to the Twisted Lemon a couple of times now and we are never disappointed! Great food, great servers, and great chefs!
We were with very good friends on Wednesday, one couple we brought were visiting from the Chicago area and so overall, we enjoyed our evening a lot. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.
However, we have been to Twisted Lemon several times but the last couple of visits we have not been as happy with the main course. My husband had lamb shank but it was overcooked with none of the distinctive flavour of lamb. On our previous visit we tried the Osso Bucco made with venison and again it was dry and not as flavourful as it should have been.
We know that Twisted Lemon can do better than this.
Came from Burlington and it was WELL WORTH the drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good meal, a little on pricey for the portion size. They don’t have beer on draft, not a fan of paying over $7 for a can of beer that’s not quite cold enough. Had like 3 waiters, not sure who was for what, was not sure who to ask for things. Sat next to a door that was drafty as people kept going outside.
Good overall but there are much better quality restaurants in Hamilton for the price.
For a first time experience it was excellent. The food was hot and delicious and very flavourable. Will definately go again. Thanks
Sitting on the outdoor patio for lunch on a sunny day was perfect. Delicious food, great service. We will definitely return.
Every time I go I am blown away by how incredible the food is. Service is always fantastic as well.
We had a wonderful evening however some of our food items were just ok. Our Caesar salad tasted dry and my husbands carbonara was also lacking moisture. We love this place though because this was the first time the food was just ok and not outstanding
The Date Night meal was wonderful. So enjoy not having to decide what to choose. Just sit back, enjoy the company and wonder at what comes next.
All of the food that was served was delicious! We even got a front row seat to see behind the scenes and watch Chef Dan cook which was very cool!
Experience was amazing! We have been before and purchased a WagJag for this occasion. Date night for my husband and I and we’ll worth it! The food is amazing. Dan is awesome! Next we will take cooking lessons from him!!! Great restaurant.
Excellent one-off restaurant with terrific food, nice ambience, great service and a very cool vibe. Looking very much forward to returning with friends and can't wait to be out on the patio when the weather allows.
Amazing food and atmosphere!! Worth the money and the drive. Will be back!
Over all a nice place to get upscale meal. Great ambience as well
I have been at this place 5 or 6 times in the past 2 years. I enjoy going a lot. I wish I lived closer. Food, Waitress, atmosphere awesome. Prices good. Cannot wait to go again. Sooner I hope.
Our dinner exceeded our expectations for presentation, quality and taste; a truly gourmet experience worth the drive. Servers were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Our only disappointment, which altered the quality of our experience, was our seating. Tables for two line one wall, leaving the restaurant's centre space for tables seating 4-6. Unfortunately, the space between the tables for two was barely enough for one person to walk in, and conversations held at tables on either side of us could be clearly heard. The lack of privacy for personal conversation changed what could have been an exceptional dining experience. Tight spacing can be overlooked when paying for the convenience of a quick meal out, but when paying for fine dining the atmosphere is an integral part of the experience.
Very pleased when we were there Thursday. First time for my friend
We do not go out to eat if its not great food...we do choose to go to the Twisted Lemon!!!
The food was excellent, never have had an issue with the portions or flavour. The service was very slow, but not to fault the waitress as it appeared she was alone to take care of most of the tables herself. Abojt 1 hour to receive our main course from when we arrived, however the appetizers came within 20 or so. Friendly staff as well.
I have been several times. Always great. This time used the coupons on Wag Jag and the meals were great/ Went with first timer friends and I am sure they will come back again.
Reservation made for birthday & server was told, but birthday not acknowledged. Food was exceptional, too bad service wasn’t.
When sommelier/bartender asked if we wanted wine or a cocktail to drink we told him we don’t drink alcohol and without even suggesting something non-alcoholic he just walked away...sorry we bothered him!
We were able to eat on the patio. We were the only ones there. It was great.
Have been for lunch a few times, but this was a real treat.
Fine dining in the country! Worth the drive to this quaint gem.
Excellent food, Knowledgeable and helpful servers, great selection on the menu and at the bar. Efficient service and did not feel rushed. Great experience
I ordered something like Grumpy Lasagna. It was hard and overcooked and I couldn't even tell that it was Lasagna or not. It didn't taste bad and it didn't taste good. It just didn't taste at all.
Lamb shank was amazing. Perch tacos as an appetizer perfect start to a memorable night.
Only flaw was my meal came and the pasta was just warm. Waitress was great, took it and had it reheated.
My husband said his meal was also not much better than warm, but he did not want to have a reheat.
Flavour great , we enjoyed it as usual. Will be back.
