Located in the picturesque village of Cayuga, about 25 minutes south of Hamilton, Twisted Lemon is often described as a "hidden gem", which attracts a faithful following of 'flavour junkies' and experienced diners from far and wide.
Featuring a lively open-concept kitchen in a tasteful and eclectic ambiance, Executive Chef Dan Megna's dishes are well thought out in their design. Careful consideration is put into each dish, intended to illuminate all of the senses and offer depth and balance in flavour and texture.
Now in its ninth year, Twisted Lemon offers private dining, extensive on and off-site catering (including weddings), special Wednesday night Chef's Blind Tasting Menu (must be booked/confirmed in advance, prior to 2:00pm the day of dining), Wine pairings and much more.
Excellent food. Good assortment of options on the menu. Service was also excellent. Very friendly staff.
A lovely meal and great service! I can’t wait to go back😋
Our favorite place. I can’t think of better food anywhere.
I was disappointed that many of the menu items were heavy - more winter focused foods. Would have liked some fresh salads and other produce choices
. Also no ice cream : (
This is a real gem. We tried the tasting menu and really love the food.
The first time I went to the Twisted Lemon, the food and service was excellent. The second time I went, the food again was excellent but the food took forever to arrive. The chef felt bad about this and they graciously waived our entire bill eventhough we didn't complain. Our most recent visit was horrible. The service was terrible. Long waits for water, appetizers and very long wait for our entrees. No waitress around to offer us another drink while we waited either. As for the food...just as bad. The duck was over cooked and dry and the gnocci also overcooked and hard! We complained and were only comp was a glass of wine. We had a few bites of our food and left. Never again. It's definitely not worth the drive from Ancaster.
Oustanding food It took us 25 minutes to decide what to eat, so many unusual items and pairings
All we knew is we were not going to have a steak
This place would be great to visit every season, as they serve seasonal items
We will go back in October
Dinner was fabulous! Service was excellent, even though our table was next to the parking lot we didn't mind at all.
I have read several good reviews on this restaurant. My daughter went there for a special occasion and really enjoyed the experience. My husband and I went for belated birthday celebration and completely enjoyed the experience. The only thing I could complain about is the time to receive our food. It took an hour from when we arrived to when we got our food. The food was excellent. Unique and tasty. Presentation also very good. I had seen the chef on tv couple times recently and was hoping to have the green bean salad with almonds and goat cheese, however was not on the menu. I had grumpy lasagna, corn soup. My hubby had fish tacos and Cesar. Yummy
I think it was ok. My tenderloin was over cooked. Asked for medium. It was well done. I'm not one to complain. My husband said his was good.
This was our 2nd time there.
We probably won't go back.
Thanks to Open Table, we found the Twisted Lemon and decided to take a road trip. It was well worth the drive. The meal - soup of the season, scallops, fish, tenderloin, chocolate and crème brule - was absolutely delicious. Service was great! We walked around Cayuga afterward.
It was nice to review the menu on-line before our visit.
Looking forward to visiting again! Thank you!
This restaurant is a must visit for Haldimand County. Excellent for date night or larger social gatherings. Highly recommend Twisted Lemon!! Chef Dan's flavours can't be beat.
Great service, good food and excellent portion sizes. Will definitely recommend!
unfortunately there are not many vegetarian options. We went for drinks and dessert on the patio. It was lovely but way too pricey.
Kudos to Chef Dan for taking locally sourced ingredients and artfully combining and transforming them into something very special... everything was fantastic!
The new patio addition is a great lunch spot and a nice complement to the dining room...
Fabulous place would highly recommend!!! Our Server Monika made the night !!!!
Good atmosphere and polite and gracious staff. The food is always good. Dan is usually hard at work in the kitchen. I always reccommend it to friends. The drive is picturesque and worth going the distance.
Absolutely fabulous dinner. We chose the chef’s blind tasting menu. What a truly excellent dining experience and great value for the $55.00 cost. Five courses and each was superbly prepared. We will definitely go back for another Wednesday date night! Great service and a well priced and varied wine menu.
Was seated by door slamming every 3 min. Waited for meal for 45min. Not followed up on aft serving. Not asked at end how everything was. Disapointed after driving for an hr. But prob jst a bad day and will try again...
You should update your washrooms and change the chairs in the diningroom. The soft chairs can be difficult for some people with back problems and hard for older people to sit and stand up from. Also the outer front door closes to quick when opening and closing the second inside door. It could injure a person that can’t get through the doorway very quick.
My wife and I, and a close couple, shared a table with a full view of the kitchen - we were thrilled to be able to view the proceedings and to chat to the chef's as they toiled away. We started with cocktails - the Caesars were especially good - could have had two but wanted to save room for the wine. The food was as advertised - flavourful and well presented. Fish Tacos with Perch were an appetizer and very tasty. Service was impeccable and when presented with a special request, the staff was more than willing to take care of us. Truly an exceptional evening in an exceptional restaurant - will be back!
Excellent service and everyone loved their meals. I had the duck confit which I had never tried before but was delicious. My dining companions also tried the pickerel, chicken and steak and all loved their meals. Shared the bruschetta which was unique and great as long as you like mushrooms. Reviews were mixed on the corn chowder soup....very different texture than a regular chowder soup which some people liked, but others were disappointed that it wasn't what they expected. All the desserts (creme brulee, rootbeer float and banada bread cheesecake) were fabulous.
My wife and I recently moved back to Cayuga. We can walk to the Twisted Lemon (our new number 1 place to eat out). The food is amazing. My wife is vegan and they always create a spectacular meal for her. Highly recommend The Twisted Lemon.
Celebrating 3 birthdays
Great food, comfortable atmosphere and very friendly staff. Top of our list for fine dining
Price for the New York Striploin seems a bit high. My wife's garlic mashed potatoes were not warm
Excellent choice to celebrate our anniversary. Firstly, I have a severe shellfish allergy, from the hostess to our servers to the chef, everyone was aware and accommodating. Appetizers were delicious, we chose cream of broccoli soup with Asiago and Parmesan cheese, and the Caesar salad. Soup was perfect, nice creamed broccoli purée and the blend of cheeses was very tasty. The Caesar had Parmesan crostini and a great flavour blend, it was served with a caramelized onion toast point which was awesome. For mains we chose sweet potato gnocchi in mushroom cream sauce and duck confit. Both were excellent. I might have tried to lick the mushroom cream sauce from the bottom of my bowl had I been at home! Duck was cooked perfectly, melt in your mouth but with a nice crunchy skin. Plating and presentation was awesome on both. Fresh herbs and flowers from the restaurants own garden. Dessert choices for us were creme brûlée and chocolate pate. Brûlée was perfectly set, and had a nice thick sugar coating. Chocolate pate? Not words to describe the melt in your mouth awesomeness of this. Think a cross beweeen mousse and fudge, a perfect ending. We sat at the pass table, had great conversation with the chef/owner and his assistant. Not our first time at Twisted Lemon and not going to be our last. Worth the 45 minute drive from Port Colborne.
Sat on the patio and was able to complete our business and enjoy a coctail and great meal.
Look forward to rerurning soon.
The exceptional service and culinary creations have kept us coming back to Twisted Lemon for years. We love the fresh farm (& garden) to table approach Chef has always used. And the beverages are always delicious and fun too!
Love this restaurant. It is always a great experience. The food is fantastic and it was especially nice to have Chef Dan come to the table and chat with us.
Wonderful food and service. The quiche , meat pie and carrot soup was absolutely delicious. One on the best meals I have ever eaten. Small complaint that Kitchen staff where talking very loudly and you could hear their conversation very clearly.
This restaurant is perfect for any special occasion the food is amazing in looks and taste, the staff are friendly and you can watch the chef work his wonders, I travelled from the uk with excitement at visiting this place once again
Excellent service, great food. Recommend the tasters menu (Date Night) for a great dining experience from the magical Chef Dan. We will be back... soon!
Appetizers were good, service between courses was very slow. Main course was served luke warm. Staff were busy chatting among themselves instead of looking after customers. We found the food very expensive for what we got. We have dined there many times in the past and this is the first time we were disappointed in the food and service.
I know they can do better, maybe we caught them having a bad night.
It was my first visit and I was not disappointed. The food was excellent, the waiter very enjoyable and the atmosphere was lovely. After dinner, my cousin and her husband and I went out to the patio for a drink and enjoyed the lovely evening. I can't wait to go back!
They took out the wall that divides the front room and it looks awesome!! Lots of natural light and the new patio is beautiful. The food was as great as ever!!
We have been to twisted lemon quite a few times and always look forward to our next visit! We were a little disappointed this time unfortunately. I’m not sure if they were short staffed but it took a long time for our drinks and food to arrive. Which we totally understand! But they didn’t have the appetizer we wanted, and there were no specials, which was what my husband always looks forward to. I had also let them know it was my husbands birthday, hoping they might do something small for him... and unfortunately it wasn’t even acknowledged.
We will go back but we will def hope for our usual great experience (instead of this just okay one) the next time we go.
Great food, hard to enjoy it when it's too hot inside the restaurant, should have adjust the air condition or some fan. Had to go to Dover Dairy Queen to cool us of
Things are always amazing yet it was REALLY hot. I in fact wondered if they have A/C, so it may be worth investigating more. I realize it was really hot outside, yet it felt the same temperature inside.
Twisted Lemon was outstanding! We dine out frequently and the service at the Twisted Lemon stood out as being the best we have experienced lately. The food was divine, creative, delicious, and absolutely worth the drive if you do not live in the area.
