Two Lights Seafood & Oyster
Wonderful food and great service. The Maine lobster rolls were perfection. True to the originals up in Maine—simple buttered New England style hotdog buns, sweet lobster unadorned with needless mayo etc. the shrimp corn fritters were great. Chowder to die for. Everything we had was reminiscent of many travels along the Maine Coast.
Our dinner was at the bar, which was great. The server didn’t approach us from the bar, but from the dining room, which was awkward.
Would definitely come back.
It is tasty but portions are small and can’t put your finger on it but it just is missing something and you feel like you overpaid when walking out.
Best lobster roll in Chicago and the best one we have had since we left Boston.
This is a local gem. The food is consistently delightful and the staff charismatic and charming. I always have a great time at Two Lights.
Our meals were extremely tasty and gone in a flash - as was the special dark and stormy: - ) The staff were warm and friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there! The restaurant is full of natural light from the floor to ceiling windows and the decor is charming and understated. It is directly across the street from Second City and 4 short blocks from the Sedgwick stop on the CTA Brown line. After dinner we walked 2 blocks to Lincoln Park and crossed the elevated walkway over Lakeshore Drive to the beach and Lake Michigan. Perfect location, wonderful food, great staff - it was awesome!
The service was impeccable. Megan was awesome. The food was fresh and flavorful. Loved the buttermilk biscuit. We had a wonderful time.
Great intimate neighborhood find. Staff is knowledgeable on both food and drinks and management is friendly. We were only there one time before and were remembered by people who worked there. Great wine list, interesting craft cocktails. Fresh fresh seafood that is well prepared, served quickly and presented beautifully. Good place for a date, a business dinner, or to go to with friends. Highly recommend.
The staff was very friendly and food outstanding. Very casual and relax atmosphere, seafood was very fresh. The cheeseburger and flat iron steak is recommended for diners that prefer meat. My 12 year old son enjoyed it as he was able to taste a variety of dishes. We will definite be back.
Expensive, and was worth it because it was a special occasion but probably won't hurry back.
Drink: a cocktail with smoked blackberries and absolutely delicious; server suggested it for me
Oysters: tasted great, and loved both the idea and delivery of the gin granita; two sauces were to come with the oysters and the kitchen provided the wrong one initially; server quickly remedied
Overall menu: very curated, which I like but still plenty of options we wanted to try
Favorites: steak tartare and street corn, which we ordered extras of and found funny that this was our favorite at an oyster house; steak had a mayonaissy dressing (oyster aioli) which was surprising but tasty; crab dip with potato chips; poke tacos (had them served on lettuce instead of wonton shells)
Didn't love: hamachi with macadamia nuts, scallop crudo
A bit skimpy on the portions. I had a lobster roll. Nothing came with the dish i.e. no coleslaw, no fries not even a small salad. It was not worth the price. The waiter even asked if we were still hungry...
Food was awesome, servers were great!
Was hoping for a special brunch @ Two Lights, but instead found everything simply missing the mark. It starts with the mimosa which are $10 for a half a glass. The food size are sharing size and not sufficient for an individual meal, which would have been helpful to know. Further complicating the sharing size is that the menu didn’t have supplemental items that you could have ordered to make up for the small sized meal. Lovely space and very cherry and our server was attentive, but that doesn’t make up for the food and drinks.
Excellent cocktails with good service. Pricey tapas-sized plates. Hamachi and clam chowder were awesome! Great flavors and appropriately portioned for the price. The Pow Bang shrimp (their version of Bang Bang) was excellent albeit nothing unusual but priced at $2.50 per shrimp. Lobster roll had fantastic flavor but at $20, I expected more lobster with pieces that should be larger than quarter of an inch. Not sure what they do with the rest of the lobster. The oyster sliders were very disappointing—excellent breading but small oysters with no flavor. Felt like I was eating a breading sandwich with blue cheese dressing—it needed a larger oyster, an acidic component to offset the rich fattiness and more prominent hot sauce. Gooey butter cake w blueberries had excellent flavor but was too sweet for my tastes to finish.
Overall, a fun vibe and convenient to Pipers Alley/Second City/Wells St. Either park at Pipers Alley or take another form of transportation. Definitely recommend reservations as the place is not big and fills quickly. Good flavors but You won’t overeat here.
Incredible food at an extremely reasonable price. I’m worried that the prices are TOO good, probably won’t last for long as this place is definitely the new hot restaurant! Service was incredible, the waitstaff were extremely friendly. 10/10 would recommend!
Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Gavin was a fantastic server and kept our pints full all night.
Liked for of the six plates we ordered. Tasty, but quite overpriced for small plates.
Super tiny portions that had us going to McDonalds after just so we could feel full! The $19 mahi mahi special was all of 5 bites of fish and the fried chicken roll was incredibly small. That being said they were both super good, just wish there was more
We went for brunch - a fairly recent addition to their service. We loved the space and the ambiance. The menu consisted of items not usually found on a brunch menu and even familiar items had a twist to them. Some may consider the portions small, but we thought they were perfect. It was very busy causing the service to be somewhat slow, something I am sure can be easily fixed. I would definitely go back. Maybe for dinner next time.
This place is amazing for brunch. Lobster Benedict is a must. Also loved the Pimms Punch and our server was so fun, while providing great service. Will be back
Super cute and great menu! It was only their second weekend serving brunch so understandably a few kinks need to be figured out (mostly serving everyone at the table at once). The food was great, and I will go back!
Lovely brunch with excellent food on a concise menu. Sort of a small plates approach for some choices that can be easily shared.
The food was great along with the service!! Definitely will return
Try the octopus! So good!!!
The atmosphere was pretty cute and simple. I dined with a few friends and we ordered a few different shareable items. Most of them were hit or miss. The shrimp fritters and poke tacos were great. However the scallops and hamachi were very bland and underwhelming. The octopus was also good but overall we left slightly hungry.
The food was creative, fresh and tasty. It was our first time there and we’ll be back.
Wonderful as usual. Staff has gotten to know my drink order very well. The Mahi Mahi special was sensational!
Two Lights’ new brunch menu is absolutely delectable! Its sophistication and high caliber nuances to delivering sea food during brunch time is something definitely worth checking out.
Great French Toast with Bacon excellent options for brunch.
Delicious brunch!!! Will definitely be going back!!
the new brunch menu is amazing. I have the biscuit and gravy. so yummy. and the drinks were great. service was awesome
It’s overpriced, especially for the size of the dishes.
Very friendly server. Delicious food . Great cocktails.
Delicious drinks and good food. Lobster bisque and shrimp fritters were definite stand-outs!
Everything is delicious . They prepare seafood with the utmost of care.
Love that it is in the neighborhood. An open friendly atmosphere.
Great for cocktails and a late night evening with friends.
Two Lights has amazing oysters and dishes. I recommend every the server recommends, haha. They are incredibly friendly and knowledgable of their menu.
Always impressed with the food, location is great, environment great, but the service was subpar at best. Kept having to ask the server where our drinks were and the server blamed it on the bartenders. Would give Two Lights 5 of 5 but service needs to improve.
I went recently for Valentine’s Day with my significant other. Fish was obviously delicious but the burger was a surprising success as well! Poke tacos and scallop roll are both a must!
My friend and I made a reservation for the bar after a night rush and had a lovely experience in a much more quiet, chilled out environment. The tuna poke taco was *incredible*- large pieces of tuna were stuffed into these really nice crunchy shells, and the shrimp app was also really enjoyable. I would love to come back next time i’m in town.
Awesome! Great service. Wine was warm but they will fix that.
