We went to Uchiko for my birthday and took my 7 year old son who is not a very adventurous eater. Not only did they bring free birthday Brussel sprouts, they also brought my son a side of chicken to go with his rice. Our waitress was amazing and took time to explain the menu to us. We will go again and recommend to others.

Always an amazing experience. Great atmosphere, calming space, beautiful art. Food is impeccable. Every item is so beautiful and of course absolutely delicious. The service is unmatched and spot on. It was a birthday and they gave us so many additional tastes at no cost. Now that’s respecting the customer. As always my favorite go-to in Austin for a nice meal. Bravo.

I had always heard good things about this iconic brand but was more than blown away by my recent dining experience with them. Fantastic service, some of the best sushi I have ever eaten and a great, energetic vibe. Highly recommend and would definitely return.

Chef’s Omakase. This was the best meal that I’ve ever had. My favorites include: Scallop Crudo, Bluefin Toro, Dry Aged Denver Steak, Snapper, as well as all of the nigiri provided. We will be returning. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience.

Nothing like I expected, the service was super slow, even with the restaurant not being busy. Fish is cut too thinly, could barely taste it. The only dish that was full of flavor was the Hama Chili. Unfortunately, super disappointed :(

Uchiko’s HH is ALWAYS on point! I’ve taken lots of family and friends visiting and we have never had a bad experience. There are lots of new items on the menu and our waiter, Jack was very friendly and attentive.

Love uchiko but it has massively gone down hill the last couple of months. Made this reservation for my sisters birthday a month in advance. They justify the price with the experience typically… and here’s the experience they gave. Didn’t seat us till 30 minutes past our reservation time. When they finally toon our order, we all ordered the same thing at the table, 8 pieces of nigiri 1 each for everyone at the table of all 8… it took over an hour for anything to arrive and when it did… instead of coursing it out and giving us the experience of enjoying bites as they arrived through, they dropped everything at once, which is fine if your prices didn’t dictate a certain experience. The entire meal felt like we were an after thought. I wasn’t able to get a drink refill till probably an hour and a half in. Our empty dishes sat at the table for 30 minutes and I finally had to track someone down to pay the $500 tab… smh. Do better. If you cant handle a crowd then don’t book it or lower your prices so we can lower our expectations.

I came to Uchiko with a newly diagnosed dairy allergy and the entire staff were so supportive. It was the most relaxing restaurant dinner I’ve had in a long time because the restaurant was soooo on top of it and their communication was stellar. And for the food? Sushi is not even in my top 3 go to cuisine choices but every single time I eat at Uchiko I declare it my favorite restaurant in all of Austin. It is just on a completely different level. The food is beyond comparison.

We started coming here in 2017. Both food and service then were outstanding! We usually try new food from the daily special menu, especially the Tsukiji and now Toyosu selection. Our all time favorites have always been the hamachi nigiri (no longer available, please bring back!), nasu tempura, and hirame nigiri. This time it was the ebi dumpling that really stood out, mainly due to the pho broth reduction. It encapsulates the aroma of star anise perfectly and embodies the core flavor of Vietnamese Pho without it empowering the dish. I suggest ordering ahead because they ran out when we wanted a second one. Some of the recent favorites were the Itoyori, Inada, Kinmedai, and Masu nigiri. The Masu is topped with some kind of chopped garlic and it was heavenly. To our disappointment, the nasu tempura came out with tempura sauce instead of the chili sauce. We kindly asked for the chili sauce that it used to come with and was very pleased to see that they accommodated the request because it made the dish. Uchiko's sauces are phenomenal, especially the ones that come with the sushi roles. Food aside, the service did not meet the usual friendly and efficient service we are used to. Our server (only knew his name on the receipt in the end) sadly did not introduce himself, asked us whether we have dined here before, nor asked if we wanted still or sparkling. He hastily brought out still water and was taken back when we stopped and asked for sparkling instead. He was also not knowledgeable about the menu and was not able to answer questions related to the Toyosu selection. Our water were emptied by the end while we waited for a wrong order to be remade. The restaurant took off $25 and gave us a $25 gift card as compensation for our inconvenience, a kind gesture on their end that we appreciated. However, I do hope that our next dining experience will be much better and lives up to the the standard of service we have been used to here over the years.

This was the first time visiting and everything was great. The reservation was definitely needed. The server provided recommendations on some things we should try. There are so many options. The food was excellent. We didn’t have to wait long between dishes. When each dish was served, we were given details about the dish and best way to eat it. This was a dining experience.

I guess they all can’t be 5 Star experiences. Overall it was ok. Not the usual glowing, blissed out review I was hoping for…. The Shrimp Skewers are always pretty good and the Crudo was good but not as good as others I have had here. I think the Crispy Parmesan was a little weird (even tho I love a crispy parm.) The Salmon Handroll was sadly so hard to bite through and chew- both the seaweed and the actual salmon. (I was surprised the server didn’t ask why we didn’t eat it.) The Cauliflower was pretty good and the Pork Belly with Crispy Rice was also good. We weren’t really a fan of the Tuna Tartare this time as the wasabi was a little overpowering. The star of the happy hour menu was definitely the Tuna Loin which we opted to end our meal on. I could have eaten a plate of them! Even tho this wasn’t my favorite meal, I love Uchiko and will definitely be back again. ❤️

We had a reservation and had to wait 30 minutes for our table , for some reason while other guests waiting were offered seats at the bar or drinks we were not. When we finally got out table the waiter seemed uninterested for the first 45 minutes, not checking on us or refilling drinks. By the end he seemed in better spirits and began taking better care of us.

The most memorable part of our experience has been the temperature of the restaurant…so hot that it has been unbearable to visit. We have been dining twice a month for the last six months. We enjoy the food and service. The last four visits have been really warm, but tonight it was so hot that our Party decided we could not visit again until at least October. The food and service was great.

Uchiko always delivers! Excellent service and the tastiest food/sushi. My kids love Uchiko so much that they ask for their birthday dinner to be there each and every year (and they are twins who do no agree on much). Our favorites include: the 72 hour short rib (gyutoro), hama chili (yellowtail, orange supremes, and the most delicious sauce....so much so I drink the bowl), the avocado sashimi (we always joke that the avocados must be grown in a unicorn grove with a constant rainbow...they are that magical), nama hotate (daybook scallops...it's like sweet butter), sake (scottish salmon, preserved lemon, skyr yogurt), foie gras nagiri, brussel sprouts (stick with me on this one - I'm not a brussels fan but these are AMAZING), and to finish off the meal you need to order Milk and Cereal (an incredible mix of different textures and sweet flavors that are not over powering).
