Uchiko was the only choice for me for a birthday dinner. It was exquisite as always. We literally ordered half of the daily specials menu and it didn't disappoint. We reordered the oysters and the shitake dishes a few more times as we couldn't get enough. Our sake choice for the evening was the Demon Slayer and it was a wonderful option to pair with all the food we had.

Truly one of the best meals I’ve had in recent memory. Our server Nathan was excellent- also one of the best servers I’ve ever had- ever! It had been years since we’d dined at Uchiko, and we will definitely not wait so long to return.

Food came out weird. Since we weren’t sharing some would get food and others not with sometimes up to 15 minutes. They forgot a couple plates too that needed to be reordered.

Fantastic as always. My only recommendation is to have the wait staff providing slightly faster service. We went for dinner on a Tuesday, so it was packed as usual, but we were waiting quite a while throughout for various orders.

Uchiko was an amazing find during my week in Austin. I definitely recommend reservations, since the place was packed and even reservations had a slight wait - however, hostesses offered drinks to those waiting, and were extremely friendly giving table updates. There is a vegetarian menu in an addition to the regular menu, if desired. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and was always available but also did not hurry us. The dishes were so fresh and had such good flavor: many dishes that I have never seen offered anywhere else. Food is brought to the table continuously and can be shared. I would definitely visit again!

We go to Uchiko every year on our wedding anniversary and we have been getting the 10 course (now 11) Chef’s tasting menu and it is always amazing. This year’s was up another level and I didn’t think that was possible. The staff is very courteous and knowledgeable. They describe the dish that is brought out and we just hear: it’s delicious, you should eat it. Since it’s always so busy, it’s quite loud in there, but that doesn’t stop us from returning. Amazing place, we can’t stop recommending it.

This was our 3rd visit to Uchiko during the past 12 months or so. We ordered the 10 tasting menu as always. This time was disappointing. As far as the food goes, there was not one dish that either one of us thought was exceptional which was different from our previous visits. The timing of the arrival of the tastings was sporadic. A couple of times, we had not finished the previous tasting and another arrived. At other times, we waited 15 minutes for the arrival of the next dish. Whatever adjustments to the menu and service that have been made, are not positive. With all of the amazing places to eat in Austin, our time and money will be spent elsewhere. Hopefully the restaurant management will pay attention and make the needed changes to return to the high quality of the past.

I visited Uchiko after several years and overall, I enjoyed my experience. My only complaint was the tables were a little too close for comfort. I realize the goal is to maximize table seatings but when the waiter was addressing the table next to us, his backside was too close for our comfort. We were at a two top and there's just not enough space between the tables for a person. The food was great and loved the wine selection.

My experience at Uchiko was unparalleled. The food was so expertly prepared, the service was friendly, helpful and generous and the entire evening was the perfect birthday cell for my daughter. We return every year for her birthday (for 10 years!) because of the consistent quality of food and kind people.

Many items on the menu was not available. I received a text to reschedule for an other date since the menu was limited and to receive 25% off however I would have preferred to receive 25% off on the date that I had my reservations for and the menu was limited. I also could not change my date since I was traveling for only 2 days.

We went to Uchiko for my birthday and took my 7 year old son who is not a very adventurous eater. Not only did they bring free birthday Brussel sprouts, they also brought my son a side of chicken to go with his rice. Our waitress was amazing and took time to explain the menu to us. We will go again and recommend to others.
