Ula is a beautiful European Mediterranean restaurant and tapas bar in San Francisco.     Terrible food experience - crab cakes were delivered luke warm at best, almost as though they were premade and slightly warmed up. Pointed this out to the chef and nothing was done or even acknowledged. The rest of the meal was equally disappointing. Sad because Farralon was so great. Clear to me now why the restaurant was virtually empty.

    The food is very good and we especially like that there are many vegetables on the menu. The branzino was a bit overcooked but it was delicious. They were a bit slow to bring the check but otherwise the service was very good. The place is gorgeous (they kept the Farallon decor).

    The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and it’s a great proximity to Union Square hotels and shopping. Staff is beyond charming, and food of course was delicious. Be mindful service charges and tips are included automatically.

    We had dinner on Thanksgiving evening. The food was good, especially the tapas and the filet mignon. Service was alright, could have been a bit more attentive. We were seated in a booth in the front part of the restaurant and discovered later that there were 2 rooms in the back which had a better atmosphere and not as cool for we were a bit cold anytime someone came in because of the front door. So next time we’ll make sure to get a booth in the back rooms.

    The dining room is beautiful. The service was not. The server must have been non verbal. No interest in communicating with us. The falafel entree looked like a 5 year old assembled it. The pasta tasted like it came out of a jar. Automatic 18% gratuity - he definitely did not deserve a $45 tip.

    Good tapas and main course selection, menu on the smaller side, but that's not a bad thing. Cocktails were very good. Desserts were good but not at the level of the other courses. Overall, very nice ambience good food and great service!

    This place is exquisite. The ambiance is just as the pictures suggest. It sets the scene and offers something to talk about, but it isn’t obnoxious. The food very good. It’s also very expensive. My date and I had 4 tapas and one main with only water to drink, and the bill was $186 (inclusive of mandatory 20% service fee and tax). I did throw in an extra $20 for the waiter; he was very good.

    Chose Ula for a night out with my fiancée and it was a great experience. Filet mignon and lamb were very flavorful. Drinks were solid. Bruce provided us with excellent service and went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. Definitely will be returning. Highly recommended.

    Beautiful restaurant, great service and fantastic food. Plenty of great vegetarian options. Extensive wine menu. Very close to the Westin and was easy to get a reservation on a Wednesday. Highly recommend!

    This restaurant is not what is advertised to be. The food is mediocre at best and certainly not justifiable by the price that is being charged. The menu does not represent what was served. We had crostini with fig as an appetizer but what we got was some slices of bread with fig jam on it. The paella was just a mishmash of ingredients poured into a bowl with no crust and when we complained to the waiter he apologized and gave us a 20% discount. We should have walked away when we saw many tables available on a Saturday night where you can not find a table in most restaurants with similar price range . Stay away.

    Over priced, bland, uninspired dishes and just lacksadaisical service. I ate almost none of my pasta dish and at no point did the server check to see if there was a problem. Had to actively find and call the server over to get another drink.

    We had been to this location when it was The Farallon and expected the beauty of the interior and we were not disappointed. The new owners are serving a Peruvian menu and we were not wowed… it was good, portions adequate,but nothing over the top. Salad served with dinner forks… oops. The wine we ordered couldn’t be located… oops. Lamb delicious but the sauce was not a plus. Tuna delicious but the sauce was boring. for a receipt of $400 for two people it should be a totally great and delicious experience. Not one where the tip is already included with the bill, which it it was. They have a way to go before it becomes the dining experience it should be.

    This is a beautiful room and very comfortable. The food was good especially the Tuna Tartare. We went quite early so was very slow and not much ambience but good service. I like their tipping culture that its shared amongst all staff.

    Tuna tartare and garlic shrimp were quite good. Paella was average -- good, bot not exceptional. Signature cocktail was a little disappointing for the price. Service was a little distracted at times but mostly good. Overall a pleasant dinner. Note that they add 20% for service so no option to leave a smaller tip.
