Chef Telmo's Portuguese menu is inspired and approachable, with an eye toward traditional old world flavors and a nod to local California cuisine.
As some of the earliest European explorers, Portuguese expeditions to lands such as India, China, Japan, North Africa and Brazil have influenced and shaped the nation’s cuisine as we know it today.
With a balance of Mediterranean and exotic flavors, Portuguese food delivers a unique and tasty dining experience

Amazing food and beautiful environment
Delightful dinner with attentive service, excellent food, and good prices.
Nice atmosphere and decent service but food and drinks were just okay, a lot less than what we were expecting. The cocktails were a bit watery. And we had 3 starters, 2 main dishes, and 1 dessert. The duck starter dish and the main beef dish were the only ones that we thought sort of good but far less than excellent. The rest dishes were just okay.
Wonderful ambience: friendly service, noisy, comfortable. Pricey but great cuisine. Flavors and touches from throughout the Portuguese countries. My wife is from Brasil and she loved it too.
Dined here with the hubby for our wedding anniversary dinner, and it was amazing!
Server was very attentive and when he found out it was our anniversary, we received a complimentary drink. Food was absolutely delicious - cod fritters were very light, and the passionfruit mousse was our fave dessert. Mains were delicious as well - ordered the baked cod casserole (was a lot so took home to finish) and the hubby loved the peri-peri chicken.
We saw the owner afterwards randomly at an event that night and he was as friendly as his staff. Will be highly recommending this place to everyone.
Everything tasted great except for the Carne de Porco, which was good but lacked distinguishing taste of the individual ingredient components
Having visited Portugal a few years ago, it was a pleasure to partake of Portuguese food, done in high style, again. Service, ambiance, and especially the food, were all very enjoyable.
Great food and atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone wishing to experience Portuguese food.
Uma Casa is an absolute gem to have in Noe Valley. The cocktails, food, and service are all fantastic. The hardest part is narrowing down choices on the menu because everything is just incredible.
I always enjoy my dining experiences at Uma Casa! So happy to enjoy authentic Portuguese cuisine in San Francisco.
This was our second time at Uma Casa, but it had been nearly two years. It was a lovely meal both times and the atmosphere is cozy and romantic.
Delicious prix fixe menus with lots of options. Friendly service. Not too crowded on a weeknight.
4 course fixed price menu. Delicioso!
Food was very good... wholesome and a lot of flavor! You could tell the ingredients were of optimum quality and fresh!
Service was helpful without being overwhelming...
Drinks also very good...
Altogether a great experience!
The cocktails and food were outstanding and delicious. Friendly & courteous staff. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Phenomenal restaurant. The food, ambiance, cocktails, wine, and service were superb. They more than exceeded my expectations. It transported my wife and I to one of our honeymoon nights in Lisbon.
Excellent food and friendly and helpful staff. One of the few Portuguese restaurants in San Francisco. Definitely worth trying out.
Excellent value on menu items, good selection on wines . . .
will return soon.
This place was an unbelievable find. We had the BEST Portuguese meal we have ever had. The service was impeccable, the food was incredible and the location is great.
You need to go here. Today.
Very good food with nice tasting menu set up. Enjoyable.
Felt a bit uncomfortable when our waiter didnt wear any mask to serve us.
The food was great, but our waiter was not very friendly and made a couple of mistakes on the final bill. That said, the food was very good. I would definitely recommend the 3 course meal for $49, but be aware of high price for alcoholic beverages.
We arrived on time but were sat down about 20 minutes later since the diners that had our table hadn't finished. Not a major issue and they comped us a drink to make up for it, but didn't set a great first impression and dampened the mood a bit.
Food was generally excellent, with the braised short rib and bacalhau croquettes being highlights. The octopus & black eyed peas appetizer and arroz de marisco were less impressive. We loved the sparkling Portuguese wines.
Service and hospitality were very good.
It was a lively spot. Maybe we weren't used to the din of restaurants after COVID, but if you're expecting a quieter, romantic spot you may not want to dine here on a weekend.
First real foray into Portuguese food and we'll definitely visit again.
If anything, do not buy the wine.
I bought a $68 bottle of wine there, but do you know how much it would be in the store? $13.
I’m not kidding.
A 525% mark up is a little wild. That is absolutely outrageous.
Otherwise, the experience was alright.
It was so delicious and it was so easy going and the staff was so nice and accommodating. We had a wonderful evening.
The food was so delicious I am still thinking about it. I loved our waitress and her hospitality. Can’t wait to go back!!
Superb renditions of Portuguese favorites! Wait staff most accommodating with our questions and requests. Certainly a memorable meal!
I felt with the smell of the restaurant I was in Portugal. They were friendly and good food.
Service wasn't the greatest; we weren't greeted while waiting for our table and the servers weren't knowledgeable about the menu. Ambience was also underwhelming. Price for the pre-fix 4 course menu was a good deal - the food was good, not great.
Service was great. They explained everything. Brought the dishes as we requested. Food was excellent.
Great food , unique recipies, great service. Wonderful wines
I’ve been to this restaurant many times and love it! Wonderful interesting food, nice room, good people. Terrific place for a special get together or just a glass of wine and a bite at the bar
First time dining at Uma Casa, the bacalhau a Gomes de Sa was amazing. Will be back!
Fantastic place, food and atmosphere
The service here is first rate. From the front desk to the bartender to our server. We started with some sangria at the bar, which was very nice. Then on to our table. Our server helped with a nice choice of a Portuguese white wine. We started with octopus with garbanzos, very nice. Next was sardines, which were grilled and slightly warm. Some thought a little too fishy, but I enjoyed them. Then on to the Gambas, which were the best app to start...nice and spicy shrimp. Then we got the Bacalau, which had a slight vegetal flavor, which put me off a little. The cod itself was good. We finished with Arroz Meriscos. Nice seafood with rice, but not a lot of punch to it. Overall pretty good. Pricey, but that's SF.
Everything that we tried was excellent. Maybe a little bit overpriced (as the majority of restaurants in SF)
Food and drinks were amazing! Noise level was high. Server was nice but service was slow.
Roast Chicken was dry... which was very disappointing, because it is one of our favorite dishes. The Prixe Fix menu was great though, and a great value. Pork/Clams and codfish fritters delicious! Daniel
Wonderful place! Arroz de marisco deserves praise!
