Service was slow. Had to track down our server twice. The restaurant was not busy, but server was inattentive to our group. Not up to the standards we have enjoyed over the years.
A wonderful evening as usual. We reliably receive great food and service at Unsworth
My wife and I split an order of aranici to start. It was excellent. We both had the Sable fish as our main. The fish was perfectly cooked and very tasty. It came with fresh pasta in broth with charred leeks and eggplant. It was certainly good but a bit bland- could have used some spicing. The restaurant is a lovely farm house with great ambiance and the service was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend this restaurant and will certainly be coming back.
Unsworth has great food, great chef and great service. Good choice of areas to eat - sunroom, bar area and dining room area plus great outdoor patio when weather permits. Service is always top notch. Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed our meal and the restaurant is lovely. My only complaint is the other party sharing the room we were in were VERY loud …..made it difficult for conversation at our table.
Food was excellent. Wine was excellent. Waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive. The dining room was cozy, the fireplace was a perfect touch for a rainy cool day. We will be back.
We always enjoy the food here, and often choose the winery pairing. We've never been disappointed.
Food was great and service was excellent. The Unsworth’s wine was very good.
Great food, bit loud as room had 5 tables in it.
Service was a bit slow. Food was OK. We had the CSR dining menu.
I loved Unsworth restaurant. Our experience was fabulous! Wine was excellent service was excellent and food was excellent. I would highly recommend Unsworth!
Varied menu and pasta of the day never disappoints
Wines very good but also recommend the cocktails
Person at front entrance very assertive with vaxxine checking :((
Great restaurant. Good was very tasty. And the staff were extremely helpful.
Wine tasting right next door makes this a great visit.
It was a fantastic experience...until a huge party came in to the small room. The noise level was off the charts. We could no longer talk to one another. We were there to celebrate mom's birthday. We were going to stay for a birthday dessert but we felt chased out by the noise.
I love this place. Service and food is top notch.
What a lovely place to eat. Great food and wine. The service was excellent but not over the top. We will definitely be back.
A perfect night with friends
Beautiful location and dining room. Food and presentation average.
I recommend Unsworth for lunch but for us dinner was disappointing.
So delicious and very welcoming!! We appreciated the service!
I enjoyed my meal but I did miss the clams I had in the summer. There was not a lot on the menu for me to choose. I do not do smoked things or hamburgers-- but I do realise lots of other folks do. Your steak was delicious.
I realize that’s it’s winter season and possibly staff shortage, but would have like to see a bigger menu as shown on your website! It was very limited to vegan, would have prefer chicken, your awesome pizzas and or a not so expensive fish dish. Otherwise the service was very good.
Very enjoyable lunch with friends from overseas. Great lunch, perfect portions and lots of choice. Service excellent not intrusive. Picturesque setting in the old house looking out at the vines.
Our waiter was very knowledgeable about Unsworth wines and helped us choose a bottle of sauvinette to pair with all our meals. My chowder had lots of seafood and was full of flavor.
We would definitely visit again.
What a pleasure to have Unsworth Restaurant and Winery in our Cowichan Valley. The food is excellent, service outstanding ( thank you, Mark, so happy to have you welcome us ), and Allegro a favorite wine. One of the very best features is the sense that you are a welcome guest, not merely a customer, and as such welcome to linger over coffee and the last sip of wine without feeling rushed.
Expanding the menu with perhaps an Unsworth wine marinated poultry with herbs dish. Maybe a simple yet elegant selection of sandwiches with artisan breads. Local charcuterie selections is always a hit. Unsworth may see this but probably will not vary much. It’s a vineyard and winery first.
The chef completely accommodated my vegan dinner and paired wine with each coarse. The service was impeccable. Thanks Unsworth!
Green bean Tahini salad was a disaster! Must have eaten here 50 times or more, first time I have ever had to complain.
Wonderful service, great food. Overall exceptional place to eat.
Beautiful setting and excellent cuisine. Service and safety procedures excellent. We’ll be back a third time!
Lovely experience eating at this restaurant! They accommodated our seating request with no problem, and food and service was all very prompt.
Wonderful lunch. Our friends had the ribeye and frites, my partner had the halibut and I had the pasta. Our friends said they were the best ribeyes ever, my wife loved her halibut and my pasta was perfect. And not surprisingly, the pinot noir was excellent.
I am sorry to have to give a negative review but we left the restaurant without eating. I am allergic to garlic and pretty well everything on the menu contained it.
I don't like beef and am so very tired of just eating salad when we are out. It was my husband's birthday too so we thought we'd enjoy a nice lunch there, for me the seafood chowder since that is my favourite. We ended up going back to the one restaurant that we know I can enjoy a meal instead of having a change of venue.
Lovely setting for lunch. The food and wine were good but the noise from the other patrons was extremely loud. I was sitting with a friend at a small table in the corner and we almost had to yell to talk to each other. Also don't park in front of the restaurant as the birds make a huge mess of your vehicle. My car was covered in bird 💩 and had to make a trip to the car wash afterwards.
The dining room is warm charming and lovely
It’s quiet and cosy and the staff is not intrusive
The food is delicious - everything I’ve ever eaten there
The wines are great - but don’t just skip over the cocktails - too yummy to pass up
Can’t wait to go back again
The outdoor patio and addition of wood fired pizzas in summer is great
But winter is warm and homey inside - it feels like you’re at your friends’ wealthy grandparents house
Great place to stop in for local charm, and character.
Food, local wine, and service is good, a bit on the expensive side, but worth the experience.
The food here was outstanding. Some of the dining party said this was the best meal at a restaurant that they've had in a very long time.
The prices were average, to expensive, but probably similar to other restaurants of this type. The pasta special, which contained steak, was $27.
The falafel was great and the seafood chowder was really outstanding.
Only saw one other party of 3 but we had to sit right next to them. Not the required 6ft which was disappointing. The amount of fruit flies was alarming and disgusting. Not returning
They must fix the music. The speakers go in and out. It was extremely annoying. They say it’s the wifi but perhaps they can just not use wifi for the music or not have it at all.
Wonderful restaurant with the best wine we found in B.C. Waiter was very informative and kept up, finding answers if he didn’t already
Basically excellent. Seats were a bit hard and we had a noisy table behind us but it worked out OK. Everyone loved their food for the most part. My salad had too much dressing or cheese, I couldn't tell which, but the others in our party didn't have that issue. No complaints about the taste/flavour. We all had the chowder as well. It was excellent!
