The service was absolutely terrible, probably because of the holiday, but the food was good. It’s a lot, so order fewer dishes than you have people.
Food good. Service poor on this and previous visit.
We were a party of four on a Sunday evening. While the restaurant was not very crowded, our server was attentive and took the time to explain the menu and answer our questions. The portions were large and the food quality was high.
We will definitely return!
The TV screens are unpleasant. You are a restaurant, not a sports bar!
This was picked due to prior experience. The lunch buffet food selection options were half of what we had experienced in the past, the quality of the food also was less than prior experience. There was a very heavy incense odor throughout the entire restaurant that also impacted the experience.
Me and 2 of my friends went to this restaurant and ordered a curry.
We thought it had celery and I allergic to celery so asked them if it had celery they said no but I wasn’t sure since it looked exactly like celery so I asked them if they couldn’t change it.
The waiter was nice and said he would check but then a lady waiter came overhearing our conversation and said no we won’t change.
I asked her again since I didn’t hear her well and she very rudely said it cannot be changed we won’t change it. I won’t take the name of the waiter but she needs to understand how important customer service should be to a restaurant.
The manager was nice enough to come and ask but we didn’t change it and I didn’t eat it.
Food was ok!
Gobi manchurian was Bad don’t try!
Great experience, great food! Wished they offered monos during buffet as well! Took a while to get our drinks - but great drinks though!!
Great food and atmosphere. Will go again!
Great food and service!
Having made a reservation to celebrate our shared birthdays, we were disappointed when our server didn't engage us, at all. Was there a special on a Saturday night? We don't know. How were any of the dishes prepared? Don't know. At the end of the meal, she cleared the table and immediately came back with the check. We were not offered dessert. We don't know if Urban Tandoor even serves dessert.
We decided to pay up and celebrate somewhere else.
Authentic Indian and Himalayan food, beautifully presented. Service is attentive and very helpful.
Food was delicious and the service was great!
Both Indian and Himalayan dishes are outstanding. Servers are attentive to requests for "Indian spicy" if you love authentic Indian food, and are happy to adjust for less adventurous palates. The Himalayan bison Momos and goat curry are both fantastic. Rogan Josh and Vindaloo dishes are superb. The staff is friendly and helpful with questions--in short this is a terrific casual-to-date night dining experience.
The service was spectacular! It was my friends birthday and more people came than we had originally planned, but the staff was so welcoming. They also gave my friend a free Indian dessert on the house with a candle and all.
Spice level is quite low. All else was good.
Great food and service. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere
Excellent cuisine at very good value! Lamb Vindaloo is quite special!
Food was really good however our tab was $250K before tip and only 3 beers were purchased with party of 5.
Food was well prepared but it tasted a little like spices had been toned down. We weren't asked what spice level so I guess this is the target taste for the mild. Could also taste a hint of salt which seemed strange and perhaps a little more Western palate than Eastern. Good service and modern space.
Really good service however I felt the food was not of the best taste as much as it could’ve been. Perhaps that maybe because I am used to eating more spicer food and majority of the food was at best mid level spicy kn a scale of low to high. I enjoyed the pani puris the most however they shouldn’t give it with the inclusions inside it. I was unsatisfied with the entrees i had ordered. The mango kulfi in dessert is pretty good.
The waiters were really friendly and understanding. The ambience is great and despite the food, I had a good experience.
Urban Tandoor has delicious food in a nice restaurant, centrally located between Virginia Square and Ballston. The staff is very willing to accommodate special orders to adjust the level of spiciness in each dish, and this was helpful to our party of five. The dumplings, naan, and butter chicken were all absolutely delicious. We will gladly return to Urban Tandoor again soon!
We had only gone there for dinner and it was the first time we tried the buffet. There was a great selection and we certainly stuffed ourselves. The only suggestion is to make sure the dishes have different levels of spice. They were all pretty spicy which I do not mind but it would help to get a break with havin gless spicy dishes. Great place!
We had a great experience here! Excellent service, delicious food, and quiet, pleasant atmosphere. They really went above and beyond to meet my dietary needs, which I so appreciated. We will definitely be coming back!
Great restaurant, great service and absolutely some of the best Indian food I have ever eaten. I was in Washington D.C. this week for five days and made the trip to Arlington twice to eat at Urban Tandoor.
Food was delicious, staff friendly and helpful. I will defiantly dine here again
The food was fantastic. I would eat the onion kulcha everyday if I could. Service was great. They checked on us, but weren’t overbearing. I wish they offered sides of the veggies (like the chickpeas, lentils, etc). Or even a veggie combo platter would be great.
Very good food and excellent service and recommendations. Will be added to our neighborhood rotation, although not to top tier.
Great food and service. My friend from out of town was impressed as was I. Definitely a new favorite on our list!
Great food in a fun setting. A popular spot in the neighborhood. Service was very attentive. Our waitress was well informed about the food and was very well able to help us navigate a food allergy issue.
The food was
So good to see a local Indian restaurant thriving. I visited on a busy Saturday night and the place was definitely packed. The food was very good as usual and the service attentive, even though they were almost completely full and most people were seated by 6:30 so the kitchen must have been super busy. My only comment is that while I prefer my food mild and my guest prefers very spicy, the main dishes seemed to have been dialed down just a notch in terms of spiciness/taste. Even so, a delightful evening.
It was excellent. Get the Buffalo Momo!
A nice neighborhood restaurant. Food is quite good. Servers attentive.
Decent Indian food, nothing fancy. There are many tables but half of their customers order to go, so the place look kind of empty because of that
Food was fantastic. But portions seemed very small.
Delicious, authentic food with incredibly kind servers / staff. Lots of great veggie options and a few vegan options, too! My only recommendation would be for the restaurant to consider adding a dairy free / vegan dessert to the menu. I really enjoyed the food, and I will definitely be back!
DELICIOUS Indian food! This time we went for Valentine's dinner, but we usually go to their FABULOUS lunch buffet. If you love Indian food, you'll love Urban Tandoor!
Very acceptable option for Indian dining in Ballston. Portions on the small size especially desserts.
Had a great lunch buffet and great options, I wasn’t expecting to have fish and goat as an all you can eat lunch option. Definitely not the best Indian food I have had- but certainly a great option when craving some good home-cooked Indian food. Was disappointed in the ambiance- certainly did not feel like I was in an Indian restaurant.
Lunch buffet was excellent and a really good price!
