    This was our first visit at this restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was a pleasant surprise as to this quality restaurant so close to home (we live in Machesney Park). Staff was friendly, drinks and food was very good. We will eat here again in the near future. One issue is the cafe chairs, they can be a little small for some of us....

    It was our first time at Velvet Buffalo. We went on a recommendation from a friend for our anniversary dinner. It was small enough to be a bit intimate, but had a great atmosphere. We will be returning.

    Pasta dishes are fantastic and vegetables are not overdone. Scallops are also prepared with great flavor and tender. Cocktails are great and waiters know the menu and have a good grasp of wine selections. Noise is part of the ambience and adds to the decor’s aura. Just can not get used to the chairs and stools. Comfortable after your seated they seem to be somewhat challenging, because of their light weight. The food and setting makes for a great dining experience.

    Overall, the restaurant was nice. Layout was very nice. Servers were great but the food was only okay. I had the braised beef and it was very chewy BUT the flavor was amazing. My wife has a pasta dish and the pasta was a little harder than aldante. Dessert was 3 out of 5

    Always enjoy this restaurant when we come to our favorite hotel in Beloit. The bread is to die for along with the infused olive oil. The seasonal salad as an appetizer was a great addition. Great serving sizes - not huge but very tasty. They offer great Italian wine list.

    Our dinner and wine were delicious. We both enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs. We also split the apple salad. It was fresh and the flavors and presentation were unique. The warm bread and olive oil were a nice addition too.

    My partner and I thoroughly enjoy our Velvet Buffalo experience, start to finish. Entering through Goodwin Hotel, we were greeted by cheerful, welcoming Staff, and quickly directed to receptionist for check-in. We then went up to The Rooftop and enjoyed a cocktail, expertly prepared by one of the several cordial bar tenders. We’d have preferred to enjoy a pub table but the only two were occupied, so we sat at the bar rather than the low box-like seating. Dining experience was terrific, again (this was our 2nd “date night” at Velvet Buffalo). Service was prompt and expertly done. Having studied the menu on-line, ordering was easy and fast. From appetizer to our dessert and coffee, the dining was delightful, again. Eye appeal of all the dishes was beautiful. Aromas & flavors of our entrees were delightful, and portions are generous, we thought. “Wait time” for all our courses was terrific…expertly timed. Empty dishes disappeared quickly and water never slipped below half a glass. Through the entire meal, our server was prompt, cordial, and knowledgeable. She made us feel like highly valued guests! My Lady and I heartily recommend the Velvet Buffalo dining experience.

    Perhaps I am generalizing but Wisconsin on the whole lacks real “sazon” with its culinary endeavors. The food at Velvet Buffalo was not bad; however, it wasn’t great either. I would only return for the chocolate tiramisu. It is delicious.

    Food was not good, the pork was terrible. Dessert was a joke. Shrimp toast reminded me of something that cam out of the freezer section at woodmans. Will not return.

    This was my first time dining at Velvet Buffalo and it was a great experience. I believe my server’s name was Alyssa, and she was awesome and very helpful. She informed me that the ratatouille was just added to the menu that day, so I tried it, and it was delicious. I also went up to the rooftop after dinner and had a great experience up there. It was a little crowded, but that is to be expected on a Friday night.

    Order the lasagna! Delicious with the meat sauce. Shared a salad with my date, so room for wonderful warm bread but sadly not for dessert. Next time may need to skip the salad.

    The Velvet Buffalo sets a new high bar for Beloit eateries. Fresh pasta, great bread, wine selection, the whole nine yards. Misty our server had good suggestions and was very pleasant. The whole place is two thumbs up.

    Extremely lucky and grateful to have such a nice and quality place to go to in our area. Is it on par with the expectations of this kind of restaurant in, say, Chicago-land or other large cities? No, but, for everything this restaurant offers, and in comparison to a solid 45 minute radius of anything around, we are extremely happy and glad to have finally visited this gem and to have it close by. There were little aspects here and there that are indicative of a general problem in the restaurant scene in smaller/less populous areas, such as less experienced (young) staff doing a lot of the FOH duties (not the waitressing, but general bussing, hosting, etc), and there were aspects of the food that didn't quite mesh at times (i.e., very hard and crunchy granola on top of tomatoes + compressed canteloupe + burrata--made for a texture challenge that took away from the tomatoes/buratta; very woody asparagus in the pesto pasta that was jarring), but truly overall the experience--especially for this area--was a winner and we will absolutely be back. Hoping in time some of these smaller details that prevent a five-start rating will be handled, and in the meantime we'll absolutely be coming here regularly. Thanks for the great experience!

    The food was over seasoned and quite salty. I love Italian, have been to Italy many times, and the pasta was delicious. However, the food was over seasoned to the point of not being able to discern any one flavor. Nothing subtle or actually tasty. The bread was good, the desserts were good, but entrees were ruined by a heavy hand.
