Venga Cucina is the culminated vision of restauranteur Gino Benevenga. Hailing from Campania region of Italy, Gino brings a little piece of his motherland to Toronto’s Junction neighborhood.

Gino has perfected the craft of the roman-style flatbread pizzas—the pinsa romana—and is one of only two certified masters in Canada to offer authentic pinsa romana at his restaurant.

The pinsa is heralded for its crunchy exterior, its light and airy pockets in the center, and its digestibility; all due to a select blend of cereal flours and high hydration.

In addition to pinsa romana, Venga Cucina offers a full menu inspired by local ingredients and the dishes that Gino grew up with in Sorrento.

Just the BEST food. Their pinsa is always delicious (love that the chef comes out to say hi), there's a lovely atmosphere and the waiters are kind and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

My friend wanted to try out this place and so we booked. Delicious food, first time we had had a pinsa. Loved the scissors we were given to cut the pinsa into slices. Great idea!

Everything about my first experience was utterly delightful. Food is exceptional. I recommend sharing plates “family style” with your party so you can sample many dishes. The pizza with wild boar sausage and rapini is a delicious blend of complimentary flavours. Lobster capellini has a flavourful yet delicate cream sauce that lets the lobster tail be the star of the dish. Leave room for dessert! The lemon mousse cake is surely made by angels. The staff is a well-orchestrated team working together so we never felt unattended, rather they doted on us making us feel welcome. We enjoyed sitting on the patio Al Fresca since it was a beautiful unseasonably warm day. Wonderful experience. Can’t wait to go back again.

Had a wonderful time with my husband eating delicious authentic Italian food with tasty wine. Truly the best Italian Resto in the city!! It feels like I’m on vacation when we’re there. The staff is warm and welcoming/service is excellent. It’s a great spot to bring friends/family because it’s a guarantee they will find something they love. Venga Cucina 4ever!!

This is our favourite local restaurant for true authentic Italian dishes. The staff and service are great. The chef is so passionate about his menu, quality ingredients and the care he takes in preparing each meal especially his pinsas. Pinsas are a cross between focaccia and pizza, so light and crispy topped with fresh ingredients. We are regulars. Great patio in the summer.

This was our second visit to Venga Cucina. We enjoyed another delicious meal! Apps - oven baked fagioli with focaccia and eggplant parmigiana -came out quickly - the perfect start to our experience. My husband ordered the pinsa special with burrata and zucchini. His review ‘outstanding’. I ordered the pesto pinsa and savored every bite. For the table we ordered the trout special. It was perfectly prepared and presented on a bed of lentils, mushrooms and beans. Delicious. Next time we’ll have to leave room for dessert! The staff were enthusiastic and attentive. We will definitely visit again!

End of school celebration dinner, service was very good and the food was great. Our bill came out to $325 for 5 (not including drinks). I would go again but leave the kids at home to reduce the cost. I guess this is the new normal for dining out- inflation. They were great and the experience and food were very good.

Great pizza. The crust is crispy and not heavy. Interesting toppings. Really good service. My only complaint as with most restaurants these days is whatever happened to offering a glass of wine for $10 - $12 dollars.

The service was great. No complaints what so ever. The ambience of the restaurant mixed with the food made for a very memorable evening. We had a table of 10 and the majority got a variety of their Pinsas (a type of pizza) which was star of the show. Their calimari was tasty and cooked to perfection. Best part for me was when the head chef came out to thank us for dining with them and shared some fun facts and knowledge of their business. He reminded me of a Nonno you would meet in Italy and it just made the experience that much more authentic.

The best pizza AKA pinza in Toronto. Unbelievably tasty, fresh, delicious!! And the rest of the menu which we’re starting to explore is as good and well executed, but it’s hard not to order their “pinza”. They need to open more locations so we can go more often !

Four of us shared a bottle of Cabernet (Bread & Butter, Napa), the two daily special appetizers, the Caesar salad and 3 of the pinsa pizzas. We were delighted! The pizzas dough was much less filling than a typical pizza and the toppings were delicious. We chose figs on one, mushrooms on another and beef brisket on the third. The service was excellent. Our host explained the specials in detail. One of us has allergies, and our host went out of his way to make sure that none of the items we ordered contained any of those ingredients. The prices were reasonable, considering the location, serving sizes and quality of the food. All of us were happy with our experience. We will certainly come again.

Food was divine (can't wait to go back). The atmosphere was cozy AND spacious due to the nooks available (lay out more interesting than a big boring rectangle). Service was also great. For the Junction, prices were on par or better, but def not "cheap eats." House wines were excellent. Highly recommended!

So glad we happened across this restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient from the moment we arrived. Every dish we ordered was great. The winter burrata was in such a delicious tomato sauce, and perfect for a cooler night. We also now understand how delicious pinsa crust is. Small but nice wine selection. We will definitely return.

Fantastic PINZA and PASTA, would recommend to anyone who loves pizza and hasn't tried a PINZA. Will make you a convert, so thin, crispy and delicious. Felt like a neighbourhood night in Italy!
