   Lovely and quiet for a hotel breakfast. Staff were courteous and attentive. And yet, coffee was cold, orders came out wrong and in a muddled up order. The food was good, but for the price, there's also far better options out in the city. In brief, it's ok to good, but worth checking out nearby options.

   We attended the special Coronation Tea at $100/ pp. The Sovereign Ballroom is one of the loveliest rooms in the city. I have enjoyed brunch there on previous occasions and the food was, as ever, very good. The service, however, fell well below expectations. We were a table of 3 and had to ask for the 4th place setting to be removed and even then it took a very long time before the server returned to the table to remove it. The service was completely inattentive and so very slow. Milk was not provided with our tea and, again, had to be requested and then waited on. The room was absolutely freezing cold and the curtains next to our table were soiled. The afternoon was meant to be a special treat for my birthday with my husband and good friend, but frankly, it was a disappointment.

   Very good food quality and lovely ambience. Our waiter was kind but didn’t clear plates we had to keep asking. Table was very unstable and shaky not sturdy and spilled our drinks.

   My fiance and I had the afternoon tea on her birthday. Overall the food and tea was very good and neither of us could finish everything. It's nice for the experience but I'm not sure the value is there for the afternoon tea given the price point of around $100~ person after taxes and tip. All in all a positive visit and we left happy even if it's more suited for a special occasion.

   Food was delicious, the only comment was hoping for more options or variations. When ordering tea we weren’t asked what type, and provided English Breakfast- not my first choice, but nonetheless good. Quality of food was excellent, the service was on point, they even surprised us with a mini smoothie at the end. Overall would recommend.

    Had a lovely afternoon tea with my 5 year old daughter! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The chef came and introduced herself and explained all the cakes and sandwiches she made for us. They have a great kids menu with modified cakes and sandwiches and it was all so cute and themed with a great presentation. They also had hot chocolate with marshmallows instead of tea for the kids! It was a nice room with great ambience. We loved the experience overall! Highly recommended!

    Food and service were amazing. One of the best tea times we’ve had in the city! If tables were a tad bigger, that would be a bonus as once the tiered stand is brought to table , it’s hard to see the person in front of you to have a conversation.

    I was a little late on arriving for breakfast, but the hostess was welcoming and professional about seating me. We were welcomed not just by one server, but by four. The lead server, Hector, was helpful in describing the menu items, and patiently waited while we decided what we wanted to eat. We chose the "Tried and True" option, and I chose the Earl Grey tea to accompany my breakfast; somehow, Hector knew that I love marmalade so he quickly served the delicious orange spread. My niece got the blueberry jelly, and she had no complaints. How does Hector do it? I have to mention that the breakfast was my birthday celebration and Hector brought a plate full of fruit with one candle. He proceeded to sing a birthday song using the Cohen's "Hallelujah" melody. What a surprise! Hector sang beautifully. During our breakfast, there were three other servers and they all took turns asking if we needed anything. Great Service! Great food!

    The ambiance was quiet, comfortable. The cost was too high for what was offered. Other high tea locations offer guests to try different teas, whereas Vic cafe limited your option to only one. The hosts were very welcoming, the waiter tried his best but reached over our food and did not pay attention to the fact that our water had run out of the only pot of tea we were served. A little disappointed really because my expectations were set far too high.

    It was exactly what we were hoping for when we made a reservation for breakfast. We came from out of town, after driving a friend to the airport. I remember noticing how deliciously quiet and soothing it was in there—and the attention to the not so little extras.

    It was a little splurge for breakfast with girlfriends. A really nice set breakfast with fresh juice, eggs, meat of your choice toast ofcourse bottomless coffee $28. Ordered a delicious French toast w/ caramel banana- yummy!! The service was wonderful and attentive. A slice of heaven in a busy downtown core. Felt like a short vacation for few hours.     We had afternoon tea for my birthday and it was a fabulous experience. The food was very tasty, we especially liked the warm apple cider, pickled carrot sandwiches, and the classic scones. The food pairings were seasonal and yummy. Our servers were attentive, despite the restaurant being busy. The noise level was quite high, which sometimes made hearing our server a bit difficult, but that barely registers given our great experience. Thank you for making my birthday so lovely.

    We took our 2 grandkids to tea after the Nutcracker. We were seated in a bare ugly room, not as seen on your website. The service was terrible, food arrived slapped on plates, again not as seen. We will never eat or stay at the King Edward again due to this revolting experience. And we were charged over $150. for nothing. You should be ashamed.

    While we understand that this restaurant was very short staffed, we also cant believe how horrible the service was. we had a reservation for 10am. We didn't sit until 1015am. No one even came to get our drink order for well over 20 minutes. at this point, we also ordered out food. When our order came, no one checked back in. I waited for someone to come back with maple syrup for my French toast but it never came. I was hungry so I ate anyway. When we were done we tried flagging someone down for our bill... I ended up getting up & going to ask the woman at the front door. anyway, do not recommend !!! While clearly they were under staffed, its important to know that they cannot fill every seat if you cant accommodate each guest

    we booked for afternoon tea for my birthday. got there and they told us that they didn’t have our reservation and that they no longer use opentable to make reservations. luckily they were able to put together a table for us but it was out in the hotel lounge. prices went up and the heater tea for kids were no longer available. service was very professional and nice. all in all wasn’t as good as it use to be. i’ve been going for a number of years now for special occasions. not sure i will be back.

    Horrible service, rushed you and never checked in to see if you needed anything. Allows you to make a reservation when the kitchen is closed. Price is not worth it for food that’s better elsewhere. Plenty of other options in the area. If you have food allergies they don’t care to pay attention so be very careful.     So, I want to preface this by saying I have celiac, so I specifically went here because of their gluten-free tea. As my partner was my young daughter who had the children's tea, I cannot comment on the normal tea quality. I was so excited to come here because they have a gluten free tea and, honestly, I haven't had a tea experience since I was diagnosed. I brought along my youngest and we gave it a shot while on vacation. Her tea looked delicious and delightful -- she ate every bite. My food, however, was ok. The appetizer was nice -- bright, fresh mushrooms and pomegranate seeds were a tasty combination. The sandwiches were a mixed bag. I liked the gluten free white bread they used, it was light and went well with the egg salad and chicken salad. They had a different kind of bread that was dense and dry, however, which really did a disservice to the beef wellington and fruit/nut sandwiches that were served on it. The desserts were good, if a tad standard -- mousse, creme brulee, macaron, macaroon, and a flourless chocolate cake were served. The macaron and macaroon were very nice, but the others were nothing to really write home about. Which leaves me to the last course, the scones were downright inedible.... and that was probably the thing I was the most excited about. Dense as a neutron star, bone dry, and flavorless... they couldn't even be helped by the lemon curd and clotted cream that were served with them. I couldn't even finish one, nevermind the two given to me... and I saw no reason to take them with me either. Service: Service was... ok... Maybe it was too busy for them, but our server seemed flustered. Even though I confirmed with 3 people, he was surprised I needed GF accommodations. The meal was excrutiatingly slow and it took us 105 minutes to have our tea and be done... during which our tea pots were never refreshed with hot water. Overall, an ok if disappointing experience.
