The first restaurant in Western Springs to serve liquor since prohibition, Vie offers guests the opportunity to experience urban fine dining in a warm, relaxed village setting. Conveniently located steps from the Metra station, Vie attracts food-conscious diners from the entire Chicagoland area. Guests will find sanctuary in the intimate, gracious dining room housed in a two-story red brick building in the center of Norman Rockwell’s Americana. Chef Virant’s cuisine reflects the seasons, local harvests and the world becoming a smaller place. While the menu celebrates artisanal foods and local family farms, it also takes advantage of the increased availability of specialty foods from across the globe. Vie features Seasonal Contemporary American cuisine inspired by Western European cultures and rustic fare. Virant elevates familiar dishes by relying on the simplicity of a few, high-quality ingredients.

Fit for foodies but also outstanding for others. Local ingredients combined in unique combinations. The restaurant starts with a free taster, always a unique blend of flavors (for our night, scallops cerviche...outstanding). Fresh bread. We started with Cheese platter that we let our waitress select - three delicious cheeses coupled with unique tasting jams, nuts, cherries. We had Little Gem Wedge salad which had great flavors. My wife had Char fish entre and I had the White Fish, both outstanding. (The pork and steak also looked great at table next to us). Worth the drive, best fine dining we've found in western suburbs; a type of upscale restaurant one might find downtown. Desert menu somewhat limited and no go to Chocolate but by then, we were quite full already.
Strong recommendation if near Western suburbs.

Love this place! Went to pick up wine purchased at a recent wine tasting at Vie. Stayed for dinner! The fresh morel omelet was so delicious as was the octopus with blood sausage. Can’t wait to go back.

I went for their Mother's Day Dinner. It was well worth the drive! Every drink I sipped, every bite I took, was soon yummy! & My kids had a great time too! I will definitely be back =D

Lovely Mother’s Day dinner. Every menu choice was tempting, so we got one of each that was on offer for the day and tried it all. Service was great, though we ordered coffee and Baileys with our dessert and apparently the bar was backed up so we didn’t get it. We weren’t mad, because we were fully satisfied.

Vie is by far our favorite restaurant of all time. Paul Virant and his entire team make and present the most delicious and interesting food there is to be had. The location and atmosphere are both convenient and very classy/fun/hip. The farm-to-table and seasonal menu is the best we've ever enjoyed, and it constantly changes, making each experience deliciously different. Furthermore, Paul and his team are great and very fun and talented people - the best team we know of and another reason why you'll absolutely love Vie.

Normally really like Vie, but the Mother's Day menu was a disappointment. The dutch baby was just ok with the toppings really fresh, but the pancake itself was underwhelming. The steak and eggs had no flavor whatsoever. The kids menu was also unimaginative. Hot dog was not very good and the doughnut was not edible because it was so dry. For the price, left pretty unsatisfied. Will stick to normal dinner menu.

Great meal! They have very nice food here. The atmosphere is also very refined. I loved the cream cheese ice cream I had for dessert. Also, very nice morels in the asparagus dish.

Amazing... simply amazing. Some of the best food I've ever had. It's no wonder Vie earned a Michelin Star and is a top 40 restaurant in the US.

Not sure when Vie started doing large portions but I’m not going to complain because that means I have a really tasty second meal!!! Maybe that’s the difference between the tasting menu and ala carte dining. Either way, dinner was delicious, service was courteous and overall wonderful time was had

My wife and I really enjoyed everything about Vie. The food was amazing, service was as well. They have a wonderful wine list and definitely leave a little room for dessert. We will be back soon.

Been meaning to go for a while; finally went to celebrate my birthday with my husband and child. They don't have a children's menu but were able to deliver something kid-friendly. We were there on a Wednesday so the restaurant wasn't too crowded nor loud. Husband and I really enjoyed the food and service. It's a foodie farm-to-table. They surprised me with an additional dessert for my birthday.

Our service was amazing! We had Ky as our server and she was extremely sociable and knowledgeable about the menu, and on items she wasn’t sure if she went for got the chef or the wine master for us to chat with. The atmosphere was very cozy, but we didn’t feel as though we were in a cramped area. It was definitely the ideal place for a special occasion dinner!

We absolutely enjoyed our meal at Vie on Saturday night. We were a party of five that shared appetizers, salads, and desserts. Go when you have time to enjoy the company of family and friends and want to try new preparations of seasonal dishes. Savor the food, the atmosphere and your family.

Vie was good but unfortunately not as exceptional as it is made out to be. We enjoyed everything and were even treated to a backstage tour of chef’s preservation and pickling process!

We opted to do a few dishes over the tasting menus and had the fried chicken livers, gnocchi, duck and lamb cassoulet. Livers were good but a bit over fried but the blood orange and sauce definitely made the dish shine. Gnocchi was fantastic with a blueberry accent. The duck was delicious, prepared three ways over root vegetables, the dish is very heavy and a lot of food. The lamb dish was good but extremely rich, so rich that it was difficult to eat it all. The entree portions are way too much food and we’d be happy to pay the same price for a manageable portion. Leaving with brown bags in hand is not fun. For desert we had the 24 carrot doughnuts. Yes they are as good as the sound and the candied blood oranges were a happy plus to the dish. I could eat a jar of the oranges!!

There are some really great things about Vie and a few short comings but worth a visit. The staff really makes the place inviting so kudos to all of them.

As usual I was made to feel welcome at Vie. I come every couple of weeks and am greeted by name and the staff always bend over backwards to make sure my friends and I have a great experience. I love sitting at the bar and meeting people from the area if I’m alone or enjoying time with whomever I have come with. They have made the lounge cozy with seating and a fireplace. I enjoy the dining room as well if I want to have more intimate conversation. I’m so thankful to have a place like this in my neighborhood.

This used to be a Michelin star restaurant, used to be. I’ve done four or so Sunday dinners. Since the first, the food quality has dropped significantly. I had a bowl of salt soup otherwise known as corn beef and sauerkraut soup. I was hungry and ate it. When asked about it I told the waiter to have them reduce the salt by 75%. He nodded to quell me, but did he let the kitchen know? Strike one on a three course prix fixe menu. Here comes strike two more like meh so what. It’s chicken parmigiana. Nothing to write home about. I don’t remember dessert that’s how inspirational it was.

We love Vie and proud to live in the same town as the best suburban Chicago restaurant. We are regulars and went Sunday for Sunday Supper. It can be stressful taking two toddlers to such a nice place but the staff is very accommodating and make it fun for the kids. After all this is a family event. Great choices on the set menu. Tried special beet flavored Manhattan which was great. Looking forward to the next visit! Thanks to Michael, Stephanie and Julius for taking extra special care of our kids!

We were there early (6:00 PM) on a Thursday. That’s the explanation for the low noise level.
We were celebrating our anniversary. Vie was aware of this when I made the reservation.
We were seated at a table for two. Our waiter came to greet us with two glasses oh champagne and said, it’s our treat, happy anniversary. I was taken aback and very pleased. That set the tone for the evening.
We enjoyed an appetizer, shared a salad, individual entrees, coffee and dessert. We retired to the bar for an after dinner libation.
The entire experience was flawless. We highly recommend Vie for two or twenty. You will not be disappointed.

The food is always outstanding. The menu has many things that I’ve never heard of, but everything I’ve ever ordered has been absolutely delicious. Service is impeccable and the sommelier always matches a great wine with your entree.

The ambiance sets the stage for everything that follows. The entire staff was incredibly attentive but not overbearing and very helpful with suggestions. All of the courses were excellently prepared and the Oaxacan Chocolate dessert is highly recommended. We will certainly be returning for more dinners and simply for some of the spectacular cocktails.
