The food and the sauces are always incredible. It's our go-to place to bring out of town visitors!
The service is always top notch.
The pork tenderloin and the eggplant dishes are always a hit.
Awesome food and service. Definitely worth the price.
We celebrated my wife's birthday at Vijs. We were lucky enough to get good weather and were able to sit on the roof terrace. It was very nice and comfortable because of the overhead heaters. We enjoyed all of our dishes. The price was very reasonable and we got a lot of food. I would highly recommend it.
Has been a favourite before , but our first time back post COVID and somehow just not the same , jackfruit appetizer was cold by the time it arrived , waited along time for the main courses which were food , but no more ......
Too bad , we left a little disappointed, but then everything has changed
Overall disappointing. Had great reviews so expected more. All dishes tasted relatively the same and overall lack of flavour.
Service was also not up to par.
Vij's never disappoints! Food was fantastic as always. Service was attentive and courteous. Seating was well organized to ensure adequate spacing for COVID protocols and helped create a more intimate dining experience.
Had a wonderful dinner here with an old friend. The restaurant is beautifully spaced out between customers for the pandemic, and the staff were all very helpful and Covid aware. The food was as usual, amazing. Thank you
First time at Vij's and will definitely return. Had the Thali which lets you try a smaller portion of 4 different mains. Each one was unique and the sauces were so flavorful and different. I just wish there was more wine choices for a glass or 1/2 bottle. Pakoras were probably the best ones I have ever had.
Wonderful and fabulous service.
We have been patronizing Vijs’
restaurants since he was just a hole in the wall on Broadway near Granville. His delicious, innovative take on the rich legacy of Indian food, the simple but sophisticated design of his restaurants, the graciousness and high calibre of his servers make Vijs’ our first choice for special events or just a meal out.
Now open for lunch! Delicious food and great variety, will definitely be returning.
Very nice food. Good service . Will go back for sure.
Was a little disappointed with the food this time. The presentation of the mushroom, beets, paneer dish was not pleasing to the eye. The other mushroom dish was great.
Vikram and team are amazing!
A fantastic place to go for a nice dinner out.
Outstanding service and amazing food. We will be back for certain!
It is different eating at VJ's during Covid. The food and service remain excellent but the ambiance is different due to existing protocols. The web site on Open
Table table doesn't match what is used in the restaurant. Our seating was in the bar and it was very quiet do the required placement and reduction in seating. Overall we still had an enjoyable evening.
Great food and experience! Will be back soon!!!!!!
Excellent food as usual! The Covid safety measures made us feel safe and comfortable throughout dinner. The spacing impacts the vibe of the place as it's not its usual bustling self, but nothing they can do about that.
Love the food. But every time I go, prices are raised. Every. Time. Soon it will be too expensive.
We have been going to Vij's for years and have never been disappointment!!
Exceptional personal service. The staff went out of their way to ensure my birthday meal and experience was first class. Can't recommend Vij's highly enough.
As usual; great food. tried the thali for the first time. It gives you a taste of 4 dishes at a reasonable cost; a great deal. The patio is excellent.
Fantastic food and friendly staff!
You’ve got to try the eggplant appetizer! Great and interesting cocktails and lovely food as always.
I have enjoyed eating at Vij’s previously but hadn’t been in the new location . Ambience was not great but I can assume it’s Covid related and we were seated in the bar.
I must say that our server was amazing - attentive but not intrusive!
Now the food - the veggie samosa’s pastry was partly raw. Our server quickly brought us another one and I didn’t have the heart to tell her that the new one had a small area of raw pastry as well ( we ate around it). We ordered the lamb lollipops that everyone raves about. The sauce was really good - I looked up the recipe to make at home. The lamb however was very thin and overcooked - not worthy of its reputation. We also had the Tilapia on rice and it was good but not worth a special trip.
My wife and I had our 5th wedding anniversary and we wanted it to be special despite Covid right now. I'm glad we went as the service was excellent, food delicious and the ambiance nice.
I highly recommend getting the pokera appetizer! The service was excellent!
i visited Vij's a few yrs ago and the food was delicious! However, this time, i was extremely disappointed - the pricepoint i that of a fine dining restaurant but the food lacked flavour and creativity! i ordered the coconut curry vegetables and it was too plain and just a mish-mash of everything! im quite disappointed and wont be returning.
their drinks were sub-par as well - the gulabi kulep was mostly just ice with probably 1 shot of alcohol and a bit of roohafza - it was a super tiny drink, i just got 3 sips out of it for $$!
Alas, not the Vij's we remember from its old location. The ambience is not deluxe at all, very dark and drab. Though the portobello mushroom appetizer was lovely, as was the mango frozen yogurt desert, the lamb popsicles did not live up to their reputation. or to our memory of them. The lamb chops were almost minuscule and overcooked. Quite disappointing. Although service was slow at first, our server, once she arrived, was helpful and gracious. Vikram Vij was as charming and welcoming as always. But somehow the magic is gone. I could only recommend the current iteration of Vij's to a friend with this qualifier: tamp down your expectations.
Always great when Vij himself comes to the table, not just once but twice to ensure everyone is happy. The man is a legend and always great seeing him there. Makes the experience so much better.
Great food! I ordered the thali so I got to try a little bit everything. All the entrees were different and the portions were great. I really enjoyed the lamb popsicle, chicken lentils, and jackfruit/kale curry. But, everything was really good. I don't think you can go wrong with any dish.
Vikram Vij was there, being the host with the most. He is one of the good guys.
We had an excellent service at Vij's, really enjoyed the food, if I could change something I would turned down the a/c and the incense, the smell was so strong it gave me a headache other than that we had a good experience.
While the service was outstanding, you go to a restaurant to eat; with the most important import of the dining experience being the food itself. Ultimately, the food experience at Vij's was VERY disappointing.
I'm not sure if the kitchen staff had an off day or if the recipes have changed since my last dining experience about three years ago but this was not the food I remembered.
We ordered the beef and vegetable samosa, pakoras, Rainbow trout, Lamb in cumin-coconut curry and Tamarind and yogurt marinated and grilled chicken and found most the dishes to be very underwhelming.
I will say that the yogurt marinated grilled chicken was cooked to perfection and was juicy and flavourful but the accompanying broth was not so memorable. I also enjoyed the apple chutney quite a bit.
Times are tough and paying $30 for entrees which end up being average at best really sucks.
Restaurants of this tier that charge premium prices need to adhere to a certain standard of excellence and consistency year round. However, this was not the case my last dining experience. It will be some time before I'd be willing to try Vij's again.
Amazing experience! Greeted by the man Mr Vij himself as we sat down. Portions were generous and food was delicious. Service was excellent. Would highly recommend anyone to eat here!
Patio is wonderful place to eat a meal on a summer evening.
The way Vij’s has adapted during the pandemic is awesome. The food is still as delicious as ever but now with the option of the “thali box” you get the opportunity to try up to four dishes in a Bento box style Indian feast. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service and food were both excellent. I will returning soon!
The rooftop patio is lovely! Great ambiance and quiet from Cambie St noise below.
We were a bit underwhelmed as we had high expectations going in. The decor in the upper level was quite drab, the menu was not as extensive as we expected and the service was a bit awkward with four different servers rotating through our table.
