Had a wonderful time and the server was so accommodating in finding a candle at the last minute. So appreciated!
Everything was excellent. The restaurant staff were taking great precautions and sanitizing during COVID.
The food was again excellent, but our server, while friendly and obliging enough, made some serious mistakes (forgetting to order our salads) but he is young and can improve.
The wine list could stand to be upgraded with some more substantial Italian reds added.
Service was amazing! Loved the server we had. Food was cooked perfectly but definitely needed more seasoning to really push it to the top.
When I ordered the salmon I was not impressed. The salmon was described as "pan seared" so I expected it to be "seared". The salmon was soggy and there was so much quinoa underneath that I could not even taste the vegetables or even see them. I was EXTREMELY disappointed and I would not order it again.
Thank you Kelti and Rui for an AMAZING brunch!! The Veggie Benny, French toast and the Fried egg sandwich are highly recommended! Can’t wait to try more items!!
my steak was done to perfection! ... we were there early and there were only a few tables occupied inside and a couple on the patio
This is a great patio as the view is nice and the glass helps keep the wind down.
The service is very good. Happy hours is a bonus and we enjoyed the food again.
Definitely a neighborhood gem.
Just an awesome place for dinner and scenery
Went for bunch with the family. Food was great, service was excellent
Great for lunch ...................................
Little loud for my taste. The food and service excellent. Reasonable prices.
Have been to Villa several times since it's opening in the new location and have not been disappointed. The food, service and ambiance are great both inside and on the patio. The entire menu including beverages we found well priced. Decent wine selection for those who enjoy a glass or bottle with their meal. It's a neighbourhood gem for sure and worth a drive for great food and atmosphere.
This dining location has had quite a few changes in name and ownership. So Villa Bistro proceeds from a disadvantage in terms of the public's perception of the location. Service was uneven and inattentive, reflecting a need for more attention to things in the front of house. Investing in well-trained, professional wait staff pays off every time. This is not the place to cut corners. Now, about the food. The menu is varied. Unfortunately, so were the results from the kitchen. The pasta was very good: toothsome tortellini with unctuous, shredded short ribs on top. Yum! But we would not recommend either of the two appetizers we chose. One was a shrimp flatbread that had a mix of bad textures: flat bread with a hard, unyielding texture, and jiggly, under-cooked, under-seasoned shrimp. Then came lamb chops, accompanied by a puzzling, herbaceous sauce that was strangely bitter, bordering on acrid. That was a shame because the chops were well cooked - not presented to us hot, temperature-wise, as lamb should be, but at least they were tender. Was the dining experience terrible? No. That said, we will definitely look around before we try again.
Great new restaurant to have in the neighbourhood. Very affordable and delicious!
I'm very pleased that this space was taken over by Villa. The location is great and this space has always been a neighbourhood gem.
The dishes I tried were good. I really enjoyed the calamari however it did need more sauce. The lobster gnocchi was also very good.
We didn't go inside due to Covid but the patio is wonderful and the views of La Marchand Manor are great. Plus the area is perfect for walking around to burn off all those calories.
Service was v good but food was mediocre
The food was well prepared and presented and served by friendly staff. We will be back!
We were very impressed. The new decor was very pleasing , the outdoor patio is a good size. The food was great and we had a lovely server; efficient and personable. Our overall experience was delightful and we will be back.
Nice to see Villa open in the midst of the pandemic!! It's a great location with the walk score in the area. A wonderful patio, good menu a bit of something for everyone. Decent wine list nice for those of us who enjoy a nice glass of wine we had a bottle of the Colossal. Full body from Portugal much thanks for helping us select the bottle. Seafood linguine was wonderful as was the roasted chicken. Overheard a complement from another table about the salmon. All the food coming out looked great. Great service good ambiance will be back!
Went to Villa Bistro for Downtown dinning and had a great theee course meal
We ordered off the Downtown Dining week menu and found all 3 courses to be abundant and delicious. There were four of us and we ordered four different appetizers and shared and enjoyed them all. Excellent value. Service was abit slow as they seemed to be understaffed but we were in no real rush so it wasn't a big deal.
The waiter rushed us about the menu even when we had questions. he poured the wine and left a lot streaming down the side of the bottle.
We didnt get dessert folks when we asked. He forgot our dink orders . It felt like he was in a rush but there werent many people in there.
Top notch food and service every time. Definitely recommend!
Delicious food good atmosphere good service. Definitely a hidden gem we would revisit. Only critique is they should update their menu as there was an item I tried to order that they no longer sell.
Unfortunate that a major ingredient of three out of five entrees ordered was not available for use in menu items.
The food was amazing but unfortunately the service was probably the worst I’ve ever experienced. There was absolutely no one in the restaurant except for our table on a Saturday at about 8pm. We had to ask our waitress for side plates with our appetizer and she only brought us 3 for our group of 4 because “they were the only clean plates”. We didn’t get a water refill at all the entire time. She brought our bottle of wine, already opened, to the table and didn’t pour anyone a glass. Just put it on the table and left. She didn’t ask us if we wanted dessert at all, just asked how we wanted the bill split while cleaning our dinner plates. It felt like she was rushing us because they closed at 10 but it was still 9:30 when she told us she saved the cork for our bottle of wine when we were clearly not done it yet. If it weren’t for the food, our experience would have been absolutely terrible.
Great food at reasonable rates....really enjoyed the restsurant
We came in for Harvest Fest and were really glad we did! Everything we ordered was delicious and we were very impressed. My boyfriend ordered the Mushroom Soup and the Boneless Braised Beef Shortrib, and I had the Butternut Squash Soup and Roasted Chicken. The chicken included garlic mashed potato and fried brussel sprouts and cauliflower as sides and they were all fantastic!
First time patron (business lunch) and will DEFINITELY be returning. Excellent menu . Thank you
The food was very good, but the waitress was outstanding!
Very polite and attentive. A nice place to grab a meal at a very reasonable price.
great meal and service was great, will be back'
We were quite disappointed with this spot for a date night. It has absolutely no atmosphere, and it appears to function mainly as the "hotel restaurant" for the budget hotel next door. The service was oddly slow for a night when there was hardly anyone else in the place when we arrived. Also, the waitress brought our "starter" salad WITH our dinners, all at the same time, which made the table cramped and our mains were cooling off at the table as we ate our salads. We will not return here for a meal.
My wife and I stopped in for dinner for the first time. We will definitely be back. We had the 3 course dinner which includes shared appetizer and shared dessert. We usually don’t order 3 course dinners because there is too much food. This idea of sharing other than the entree was great. My wife is celiac and needs gluten free, but there was plenty to chose from. We shared the spinach and artichoke dip which had nice consistency and flavour. I had the piri-piri chicken and prawns. It was a bit spicy, which I like, and very flavourful. My wife had the salmon which was cooked to perfection as were the asparagus. We both like Portugese rice so that was a bonus as well. We finished with the cheescake which was the best I have had. Not heavy like a lot of places.
The owner, Rui, was serving and was spot on and friendly. The bistro is only 1/2 block south of Jasper Avenue on 104 Street, but we didn’t know about it until last night. We are very glad we found it.
Really tasty food, friendly service.
A literal hole in the wall restaurant, would never have known it existed if not for downtown dining week.
We had the baked brie and the mushroom soup as appetizers, "wow" is all i can say, the stars of the show! The brie was creamy and cheesy with a side of cranberry sauce to cut the oily taste which i thought was genius! the mushroom soup was very pungent and even though i'm not a huge fan of mushrooms, this tasted amazing!
Then the problems started, we ordered the lamb ribs and a salmon fillet which weren't bad but not great, average i guess. The fish came with a side of rice and asparagus, disappointing, the rice was dry yet soft and mushy at the same time, the asparagus was old and stringy.
Desert came, we ordered a chocolate mousse, that looked deceptively good, uh no! way too sweet and the consistency was just not there.
Value? The bill came to about 80$ which left us feeling unsatisfied.
Food was good except one of us got the rack of lamb and it came out raw. Server came back and made an excuse for the cook stating he checked the temperature before sending it out. Was supposed to be medium rare. Instead of making excuses just apologize. Just looking at it you could see it was raw not even just rare. When it came back out it was cooked to a medium rare and the flavor was great.
