   My son & I were celebrating my birthday & his high school graduation and found Virgil's Gullah Kitchen on Google and decided to make a reservation and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing & the staff was really friendly!

   Visited for Mother's day and it wasn't busy. We were sat first as a party of three and another table of four sat besides us and we're greeted and served first. Had to call for a server. Following getting a server the service was unorganized, She didn't anticipate our needs at all. Served cold food before we received our beverages. Had to ask hostess for napkins and had to ask for silverware once food was delivered a second time without it. Had to send back food due to temp and manager rectified after 35 min waiting and drinks arrived with food. Manager gave discount and gave remorse's due to service issues but as a Restaurant Manger myself I would not return based off my initial experience. Overall an additional staff training needs to be held.

   This was the best Mother's Day Brunch vibe. My Mom loved the space & food. Mimosas on point. We will definitely be back again. Suggestion for anyone looking to go, make a reservation. 5 stars.

    Having no coffee along with other actual breakfast dishes turned us off. Before church skillet lacked sausage. Mimosas and other drinks were good. Our server was nice. Not sure if I would revisit or recommend.

    Showtime, our server, provided excellent service to our very large party for brunch. He was patient, attentive and down to earth. Delicious and unique entrees, great music, and the inviting ambience will have me coming back for dinner!

    I came back to Virgil’s on this special occasion for a Mother’s Day lunch with my mom. The food was amazing before so I wanted to introduce it to her. We had an amazing time. Our server Kendall was amazing and we felt like we have known him for a long time. My family members are all born and raised in Charleston. The food reminded my mom of home. Thank you so much for making this lunch memorable for us. I will be back again soon!!!

    Much thanks to the amazing staff at Virgil's Gullah Kitchen Midtown for taking such good care of us. The food and drinks were delicious. Tay's poem was beautiful and so very appreciated by me and my LS's. Showtime was an excellent server and pop-up photographer. They made 32 years of Delta Sigma Theta sisterhood so very special.

    I have visited the original location in the past and was excited to visit this one for a birthday dinner. I reserved a table in advance, but unfortunately that didn’t matter. Several parties had made reservations, yet we all were asked to wait an additional 45 minutes to be seated. There were multiple open tables, but no explanation given for why our reservations weren’t honored. When I approached the oddly placed host stand after waiting 40 minutes, I watched those that walked up after my party be seated because the host ‘forgot’ I had arrived first with a reservation - it was then that my party was seated. Not a great start to the meal. The service at the table was fine, our server seemed aloof and distracted. The food was fine, but it was unfortunately overshadowed by the experience leading up to the meal. It did come out in a timely manner and the drinks were good as well.

    We had a large party and the waitress was a bit curt and our a La carte orders took forever to come out long after we’d eaten our main meal, it still had not arrived so we had to cancel.

    I tried the College Park location awhile back and decided to give the one in West Midtown a try. We had reservations for 5 PM this past Friday and were never seated. When we arrived, we stood at the hostess station for several minutes and not one employee acknowledged us being there. Finally, a young man who had been running around frantically from table to table taking orders etc., told us he would be back to seat us in a minute. He rushes upstairs and we never see him again. We waited for about ten minutes and decided to take our business elsewhere. Loved the College Park location but this one is in serious need managerial leadership.

    Took two hours to get our food. Saw one table walk out due to frustration. They also didn’t have ingredients to make my drink. Food was good but came out cold, and they had to remake it. I used to love Virgil’s but don’t see myself returning anytime soon.

    First time here a week ago. Our waiter, Ron, was awesome and did the best he could considering the wait as we waited forever to get our drinks and food. We had 3 ppl in our party and my food came out and theirs did not come out until 20 min later. It seemed as if they were short staffed and the kitchen was behind. The vibe was cool. Very nice place. I would recommend limiting tables until things can be run smoothly in a timely manner. A large party who was seated before us walked out due to their long wait

    I have visited the College Park location before and loved the food and service. I decided to book the Midtown location for my birthday dinner. My party and I were seated promptly which I appreciated since we were a party of 7. From the beginning our server was nonchalant and impersonal. For such a small space, it would take him 15-20 minutes to come back to take our drink and appetizer/entree orders. He brought drinks one at at time 10-15 minutes apart. Nearly 2 hours had passed and after several inquiries on where I food was he would say he was going to check but no food was ever produced. The last straw was watching him smile and serve a smaller party their appetizer and entrees that had been seated 30 minutes after us. When we inquired again why they were being served before us he shrugged and walked away. The night ended with us canceling our orders and having to find another restaurant to go to at 10 at night. If you come to this location be sure to ask for a server that is professional and friendly. There were other parties that had an enjoyable experience because their server was attentive and friendly.

    The customer service was wonderful. getting seated promptly was good. We came in the Saturday brunch time. The drinks were good and strong. Now I know that eggs are expensive right now but not a fan at all of powdered eggs. I could definitely taste the difference. My friend asked for cheese on her eggs, they forgot to add the cheese, so they just sprinkled some shredded cheese and I guess in hopes it would melt on the hot eggs. It didn't. The potatoes were very hard. Either they put it in the microwave too long or over fried them. The manager offered to send us a fresh plate of potatoes but didn't have to to wait for those. My other friend had the crabmeat, shrimp and grits. Couldn't see the lump of crab meat. The manager explained that the crabmeat is minced in the grits but my friend said that she couldn't even taste the crab meat. I ordered the salmon croquettes. They were decent. Nothing for me to order again. Overall the food was decent, not terrible but just alright. The place has great music playing, in nice weather, you have nice view. They have upstairs seating and a partial outside seating also. Our waiter was great. I would go back for drinks and the ambience only.
