I hope they succeed and while the food was fine, if they are looking for regular return customers, however, they might consider changing their menus frequently and provide for more variety imho. While we enjoyed the food, it was on the rich side and could be a bit cleaner (less complex) Their website should also be reviewed and expanded upon in terms of their concept. I hope they succeed in this competitive market.

Fantastic hidden gem. Quaint little French bistro in the heart of Little Italy. Best duck confit in town IMHO, crispy skin and really moist tender meat. Beef brisket was also fantastically tender and juicy. And the special dessert of profiteroles with black garlic salted caramel ice cream was such a delight.

We went to VIV based on a recent Ottawa Citizen review. Generally speaking, our experience lived up to the review. All of our dishes were tasty and nicely presented. The menu is somewhat limited, but enough of a selection for all tastes. Our servers were very pleasant and accommodating.

Must’ve been an off night, as we did not have the great experience others have shared - from the drinks to the food to the ambiance, there were some plus sides, but a lot that needs improvement (eg, good flavours, but dry or hard food). That said, they were very responsive to all feedback and tried to correct items or removed one from our bill. With a bit more consistency and attention to details, this could be a nice spot. Hope they get there.

Such a lovely spot to meet family for dinner! The food is delicious, the staff friendly, and the ambiance comfortable and inviting. We are repeat diners at VIV and each time there is something new on the menu to try. And we have never been disappointed! I highly recommend giving VIV an opportunity to impress you!

Wonderful time at VIV. Came for the first time to celebrate my 3 year anniversary with my wife and the service team went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed ourselves. Hats off to the kitchen and delicious menu. We look forward to returning and have loved this new edition on Preston st.

The server did not seem knowledgeable about the wine nor the food, We were the only diners and waited almost an hour for our plates. The duck was not bad, but there was no mint balsamic and the parsnip purée was oily and tasteless. The fish quenelles were small, bland, not fresh- tasting and were fried. The one dessert we tried was the opera cake - rock hard, cold, tasteless, and a disappointment for $15. No taste of almond sponge nor coffee. When this was mentioned to our server, the response was non-committal. The room is cheerful and comfortable. Overall it was a disappointment and we won’t return.

Great food, great staff, everyone was all-around friendly. I've never had much in the way of french food and with this being my first time with it, it blew my mind and set the standards for any french food place I go to in the future. As an appetizer, we had the bread and I've never had such good bread from a restaurant until now. Knowing that it's all made in-house definitely shows they are a place of quality. The Tarte Flambée was extremely delicious, I could keep ordering more if I could since I still want more. It was very light but flavourful, and the sauce on it had a nice kick and sweetness to it. I also had the Petite Oiseu, one of their signature mocktails. If you're looking for something floral, with fruity sweetness this is absolutely a great drink to be having. If you're looking for a quiet sit down with friends with quality food this is a place you want to be coming to. If I ever get engaged I would want Viv Bistro to cater my wedding.

We went to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and we will certainly be returning soon. The service was excellent, the food was incredible - I'm still salivating any time I think about that Tarte Flambée - the space is quaint and the prices are very reasonable. 10 on 10 would recommend.

This was a total disappointment. The waiter was friendly but not knowledgeable at all. The wines by the glass are very limited and overpriced. As for the food, it's terrible. The pleurotes we ordered as an appetizer are mostly fried coating debris. The fish quenelles are fried (they should be poached), bland and are mostly bechamel. The pretentious 'tarte flambée ' is a weird looking pizza topped with the same fried mushrooms! Is there a chef in the kitchen?

I came here with some friends and it was one of the best experiences we had! The waitress was very kind and knowledgeable, explained all the dishes we were interested in, and the drinks. The food was beautifully plated, it looked like art. Not only was it beautiful, it was delicious. We all tried different dishes and each were great(quiche, croque monsieur, vol au vent)The chef really outdid themselves. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will likely return.

This French Bistro has left high impressions! As a new restaurant, you can tell that they are still working on a few details, but overall I highly recommend. Great service, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation and wonderful dessert. The Oyster mushrooms are to die for. I will be back to try the rest of the menu. Well done!

What a lovely new restaurant! From appetizer to dessert every bite was delicious. The staff are so friendly and helpful. This bistro deserves to be a top choice for dinner. Not only does the menu offer interesting (and tasty) choices, the meals are reasonably priced and great value for your dining dollar. Love love love it!!

Super nice to see Hind from Vanitea! We were early and had the place to ourselves. Food was great! I had the duck confit while my friend had the croque monsieur. need to expand their cocktail menu, but they just opened so i'm sure everything will expand in due time. Off to a fantastic start!

I was fortunate to eat here yesterday for their first day of opening! This restaurant offers amazing French bistro style food that I’ve honestly never seen anywhere in Ottawa. The staff, food, location, ambiance, and the overall vibe will definitely have me coming back! The owner of the restaurant you could tell really put so much effort into ensuring that high quality was put into everything at VIV Bistro. So happy Ottawa has gained another exciting restaurant! Lovely opening weekend. The space is cute, the staff friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and most importantly the food was beautiful! Our favourite was the duck confit and the pistachio dessert. Will definitely be back!
