We were in town for Thanksgiving and wanted to try out a higher end bar for drinks Friday night. Vol 39 did not disappoint. We only went for drinks so we didn’t try their any of their food.

The ambiance was very nice and pleasant. Our reservation was at 9 and the kitchen was closed so no food. It would of been nice to have gotten food with our drinks instead of going somewhere else

I had overall high hopes from reviews and images prior to my visit. I expected true mixologist deep into their craft. They were average overall. This is labeled as a cocktail bar. As such, expectations of a grand experience were made and I was let down. Painful average bar.

This is a fun, buzzy room, offering creative but approachable cocktails along with a solid selection of spirits. Service during my visit was right in the sweet spot: always at hand when I needed something, but never hovering. That’s harder than it seems. Recommended.

Drinks were good, though presentation could be a bit better for the price. What really surprised me was the quality of the food - everything is absolutely delicious! Service was great as well, I just had one small complaint. I requested a table by a window in the reservation and this was not accommodated. For ‘exceptional’ service I would hope the restaurant would reserve one of those tables or notify us in advance that they cannot accommodate the request.

Wonderful service from a knowledgeable server. Loved his recommendations on cocktails. Ordered several small plates. Presentation and flavor was on par. Nice atmosphere, able to hold a conversation.

Super cool cocktail lounge, beautiful on the inside. Drinks were fantastic and staff were very nice. The espresso Martini was amazing and loved that they had a decaf option.

Went here with my boys to celebrate a bachelor party. They made sure our group was taken care of. They crafted some great cocktails for the man of the hour. They were super friendly and accommodating. They were amazing. I'll come back here when I come back to Chicago.

Cool vibe for a happy hour with friends. Servers take their time coming around (perhaps because they are understaffed) so be sure to let them know early on if you’re catching a show at the theater.

classy spot. went there before seeing a show and it was perfect. higher end seating and feel. kinda hidden on the 2nd floor of a hotel limited food but the flatiron steak and tuna tartar are great. attentive waiter bc we did say we had limited time. the biscuits & jam cocktail was superb

The atmosphere was great, a comforting vibe. Our group of three got seated right away. We each ordered a different cocktail. They were fabulous, very fresh and well balanced. We also ordered few appetizers and those were also very good. Perfect spot to start an evening out.

Really great place to spend a rainy cold Chicago afternoon. The place is quiet and cozy. The seating is just right and it's small without feeling cramped. I enjoyed the rose wine and nibbles. Our waiter was also very nice and kept checking on us to make sure we were ok. Can't wait to go back.
