   I am so glad I found this restaurant! We've gone here twice in our visit to DC and hope to go once more before we leave. The seafood is so yum and the filet is cooked to perfection. The Cole slaw is my favorite Cole slaw ever and the smoked corn is awesome as sides.

   The service was not the greatest, when we were ordering my wife told the server she has an allergy. The server never notified my wife what the chef said. We ordered alcohol and an appetizer and drinks, it was taking a long time to get a beer and a sangria so we asked about our drinks and our appetizers came out before we got our drinks. The food was good not what we were expecting. When we first arrived and told the hostess about seating outside sighed sent us outside where they told us it would be 40 min. wait. We said never mind so they put us in the overflow area in a non descriptive store front. Not the treatment we had hoped for our anniversary dinner.

   The host Kenya or Kendra was really good. We enjoyed her and her service. She was very polite and made sure we had what we needed. She allowed us to come in from outside from the rain without hesitation even though other staff was hesitant.

    We are not locals and this restaurant got good reviews. Apparently they have many different spaces in the same area at the end of King St. We see they have outdoor seating and ask about that. We are told we can do it but it is not on the Open Table option. They cancel our reservation and we go to outdoor seating and find it is a 45 minute wait. We go back to desk and say we don't want to wait that long for the outside seating. We are seated very quickly, but this restaurant has the main restaurant, outside (which is not part of the reservation system) and at least 2 other seating areas across the walkway from the entrance. We were seated in one of those areas and the atmosphere was very lacking. Food was good and so was our waitress, but very disappointed as to our location. And my biggest complaint about this restaurant is that there were only 4 single unisex bathrooms. There was quite the long line and since you could access the area from 2 sides, no way to know who was next. Definitely not enough toilets for the amount of people this restaurant holds in its numerous seating areas! The line of people waiting extends into the tables of customers - very poor set up.

    We were seated at a table on the edge of pillar with very little room. The noise level was so loud it was hard to hear anything. The food is very pricey and good, not great. For the price, would expect better food. I think you’re just paying for the location. Service was great.

    My friend had the shrimp and grits and I had the rockfish and both were great. We loved the crab hush puppies. Service was friendly but a little slow and it's pretty noisy but I guess that's to be expected on a Friday night in Old Town.

    Right by the water in Old Town Alexandria, nice ambiance for a medium range seafood gathering place. Great frozen drinks, peel and eat shrimp and mussels. Crab cakes are also good. Service was good but could have been better but the restaurant was extremely busy.

    First time visiting the area and the restaurant was a recommendation from my son. Made a reservation for dinner and that was easy enough. Casual attire and atmosphere. We were seated right away. The food was delicious, hot and portion was satisfactory. I enjoyed my meal immensely and so did my husband. We traveled to D.C. the following day but decided to return to Vola's for a late lunch!!

    We had a reservation at Vola’s on Mother’s Day, which was understandably busy. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our table to be ready. After they wiped it down, the table reeked of mildew. Since we could tell they were extremely busy and our kids were hungry, we ordered an appetizer to tide them over. The appetizer never came. After waiting nearly an hour for food, they finally brought my husband and me food—but not either of the kids, who were by now starving and even more upset that our food was out but not theirs. It was then more than ten minutes before they finally brought the kids food. My husband gave my daughter most of his meal to tide her over in the meantime. We were not offered anything to make up for this experience. It’s one thing to be busy and forget part of an order, but to then bring out half the meal when the other half isn’t even close to ready, especially when small kids are involved? Will not be returning.

    Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms that brought their kids only to find out the restaurant was out of lemonade, apple juice— and forget your margarita— they were out of ice! The only day of the year where you just want to have everything be great and this is what you get.

    The entire experience was okay. Booked a reservation for 4 p.m. Arrived there and was told to wait an additional 10-15 minutes to give time for the table to be prepared - was also told that I would receive a call/text. Didn’t receive neither and went back to front to follow up on the status of my reservation. Took about an hour & a half to get our food, appetizer included. In which one of the items we ordered was cold. Our waitress Kamiyah, was amazing and professional. But more than likely, we will not return.

    I made a reservation for Mother’s Day and was pleasantly surprised. Every staff member I saw and encountered was very nice, patient and hospitable. I know these holidays can be stressful but everyone seemed to handle it with grace. I came with my picky son and he loved everything he had. My food and drinks were amazing!     The service was AMAZING. The food was outstanding. We were seated by the window so it was nice to watch the harbor while we ate. However, it is VERY LOUD. Maybe it's because we were in the bar area? Maybe other areas are quieter. We will be back, but might ask for a quieter spot next time.

    Great food and great service. It rained, so we were not able to sit outside. We were seated in a quieter area of the restaurant with a window view. Our food came quickly, and it did not disappoint. The calamari, shrimp and grits, and creole shrimp fettuccini were superb. We will definitely be back.

    It was my first time and I will give it another try. We sat outside which was very nice. I had the chopped salad with salmon as an add-on. There was a ton of iceberg lettuce with probably 4 slices cherry tomatoes, one boiled egg cut into quarters and a minimal amount of bacon pieces. I had my cheese on the side in a condiment cup. I asked for the salmon to be blackened, however it came out cooked well but with a small dusting of Cajun seasoning which added absolutely no flavor. I will say the service was excellent as was the berry sangria!

    Only downside is that there were a lot of loud outside singers in the public area by the restaurant. However, we were able to move to a quieter area and enjoyed the absolutely delicious food! Get the shrimp and grits and jalapeno cheddar hush puppies!

    Not bad for gluten sensitive but need a bit more options. For example, Gluten free roles for burgers; Gluten free crab cakes. The location can't be beat, whether inside or out. Wait staff very friendly.

    First time visiting this restaurant on a busy Saturday night, the service was quick, and the food was delicious and plentiful. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the prices are reasonable. Everyone seem to be having a good time. We started with the orange crush cocktail and the sangria. Both were very good not too sweet and just strong enough. For the entrée, the glazed salmon had a nice hint of sweetness and a good sized portion. The corn cake and rice that accompanied the salmon were cooked to perfection; however, the entree could’ve used a little spice/heat, but overall I enjoyed it. And lastly, we had the grouper sandwich, the grouper had almost a meat like texture and the aïoli sauce on the sandwich really highlighted the flavors…also, I can’t forget the fries - perfectly cooked but the seasoning was the highlight. And I can’t forget to shout out our server, he was very attentive and friendly. I appreciate wait staff that don’t mind sharing recommendations, etc.  Overall, it was a great first visit. I’m looking forward to visiting Vola’s again perhaps for brunch.
