West Plains Bistro
West Plains Bistro is a classic European style bistro that offers a taste of Paris in Burlington style. Using local, seasoned ingredients, the restaurant serves everything from steak to quiche for lunch. The dinner menu features exciting chef’s specials daily, along with other tantalizing menu items from a Filet Mignon to halibut fish and chips and more. The restaurant has an early bird menu that is served from 4pm – 5:30pm. The homemade soups offered by the restaurant have won awards and are famous among its patrons.
West Plains Bistro offers a unique dining experience with the décor theme oozing European-inspired charm. The wrought iron tables are adorned with stained-glass lamps and bouquets of fresh flowers, giving a vintage feel. The outdoor patio is a true gem, as it is modeled to replicate a picturesque Parisian street. West Plains Bistro also offers professional catering services, including staffing, beverages and food.
We very much enjoyed our evening at the West Plains Bistro. Everything was delicious. My mother rated the escargot as the best of her 89 year life ... the highest praise I think she's ever given a restaurant!
Pleasant surprise. Food was delicious and professionally plated. Selection was very good and early bird option was excellent value. Wish more restaurants in our area offered early bird dining specials.
Service was exceptional. The server was very attentive. My water glass was never empty and was constantly replenished.
I will be back, often!
As always, a most pleasant lunch. Excellent food, great wine and a wonderful ambience!
I will be back!
Best burger I've ever had! The service is also exceptional.
A very friendly local restaurant. Big crowds for early bird dinner. Staff was warm and professional.
Excellent service and food in pleasant surroundings.
Excellent food and fantastic service. All three of us loved our entrees (pickerel, stuffed squash and mussels) and the Skor chocolate cake was chocolate-y goodness.
Great atmosphere, service and food. Have recommended to all my friends.
We had made reservations at West Plains Bistro for Feb 18 for the Taste of Burlington - advertised from Feb 18 onwards. West Plains Bistro was one of the restaurants advertised with their award winning soup.
When we got there, we were told that the Taste of Burlington menu didn't start until the next day, Feb 19. We inquired about the website advertising the start date of Feb 18 and the server said, "This happens every year." This reaction was frustrating as it is SO easy to communicate information correctly on websites and make the necessary changes.
There was NO award-winning soup available.
There was NO Taste of Burlington Prix fixe menu.
We were offer the OVERCOOKED schnitzel prix-fixe menu as there was nothing else on the prix-fixe menu available.
What I found frustrating is that the server gave us the restaurant business card with manager's name to contact. Had I been the server, I would have tried to ensure a positive dining experience for the guests. As a manager, I would want my staff to be on the same page and not hand out a business card. Rather, she should have dealt with the situation in a far more satisfactory manner - having worked in the service industry, I have many suggestions.
All in all, an unpleasant dining experience. The problem that the Bistro created by not taking the time to adjust dates on a website, and then stating that this happens every year, is a bit arrogant and poor service to customers.
A quaint small restaurant with excellent food and service. The food was delicious and well presented. Services was pleasant and fairly quick.
Very tasty food and excellent service!
I love this little restaurant. The food is remarkably good. The Early Bird Special is great value. The staff is always pleasant and attentive.
I would definitely recommend West Plains Bistro.
I went with extended family for lunch and everything was delicious and fresh.
Our waitress was very nice and efficient.
The mushroom soup is out of this world!
Delicious! Makes the best soup anywhere! Courses were not rushed - excellent food, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere. A lovely lunch!
We arrived and were immediately told when we would have to leave by. This has never happened to me in my entire life. It was so assertively told to us that it was beyond improper. I can hardly believe they think this is acceptable behavior. We were clearly not important to them.
I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE BISTRO SINCE THE FIRST DAY IT OPENED AND STILL GO VERY OFTEN...GREAT FOOD GREAT LOCATION...THEY MUST PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THEIR LONG TIME CUSTOMERS
The service was good here but we were rather disappointed with the food. We got the escargot and immediately knew it need salt desperately. Then we had the soup of the day and again, it was on the blander side, but better. I like my warm beet salad and he found his steak frites to be too greasy and the fries ended up soaking it all up and soggy. While it is a cute little restaurant and our waiter was very nice, we were underwhelmed with the food and would not go back.
Always a lively experience.. the food the service never dusappoints
One of my favourite spots for lunch in Burlington! Meals are always fantastic, great service. My favourite is the daily quiche special with either salad or fries, which is always delicious.
There were 8 of us having lunch. The waitress was very friendly and did a great job.
The food was served in a reasonable amount of time. The presentation of the food was lovely...it was very good. We had a great time! It was very noisy though...but, it’s a small place.
Both food and wait staff are excellent. I've never been disappointed whether dining with a friend or a larger group. Always try to get a reservation as they fill up quickly. Miss the little burger sliders they used to have--they were a little easier to eat (handle) than the larger pretzel burger, but both equally tasty, especially with their delicious fresh made fries.
Went with friends for dinner, service was great, ambience was lovely, we all really enjoyed are meals. Would definitely recommend.
Best place in Burlington for lunch or dinner. Reservations while not required, are highly recommended. Food is always of a high standard and beautifully presented. Happy to have you in Burlington.
I introduced my friend to this Bistro and she was very pleased with it, as I always am when I visit.
First visit. Met a friend there for lunch and was very pleased with the atmosphere, service and food. Will definitely go again.
Soooo good! Food is delicious. Pranut butter cheesecake is to die for!
Small and cozy. Serving excellent food! Suitable for older crowd.
Outstanding service by Sarah. Friendly & professional. Superb food. Onion soùp from scratch... none better. Wine is excellent and paired by the chef for my meal.
Casual environment and the food is really good. Very enjoyable experience.
THE most interesting menu around. They have common items and then they have unusual items that are out-of-this-world terrific. Love this place.!! Excellent service. A1 Food choices and presentation.
Everything is made to order fresh in the kitchen. They go over the top to make sure you are comfortable and happy. Each time I go there they surprise me again. This is a One-in-a-million Restaurant that needs to be visited at least once. If you go there just once, I guarantee you will be back. It is THAT wonderful.
We had a great meal with some good friends, it was their first time there and will definitely be back
I have been here for lunch and for dinner. Both times everything was 5 Star.
One of my favourite restaurants. The food is excellent, the service is outstanding and their early bird menu is fantastic value and great if you are heading off to the theatre. Highly recommen!
Seating is problematic with bar stools which are very hard on arthritic legs! The food was incredably delicious.
Excellent evening all round.
We were four ladies celebrating a Birthday. Had a lovely lunch. The food was great and the atmosphere just right. Will be back.
My first lunch at this restaurant will certainly not be my last. The service was excellent and the food as well.
Great presentation. There was a Christmas lunch going on with at least 20 people in attendance....and early diners as well who were not anxious to leave. The Staff were very discreet in advising patrons who lingered longer that the second round of reservations had arrived and it was time for them to move on.
Well Done indeed!
Great evening out with friends. Great food and service. A really nice little spot
Staff are very helpful and patient with disabled patron! Thank you
Good menu with specials daily. Great list of appetizers. Small and cozy. Nice lighting in the evening with appealing ambiance. Friendly attenative service. Highly recommend. Reservations also recommended. Use open table.
