West Plains Bistro
West Plains Bistro is a classic European style bistro that offers a taste of Paris in Burlington style. Using local, seasoned ingredients, the restaurant serves everything from steak to quiche for lunch. The dinner menu features exciting chef’s specials daily, along with other tantalizing menu items from a Filet Mignon to halibut fish and chips and more. The restaurant has an early bird menu that is served from 4pm – 5:30pm. The homemade soups offered by the restaurant have won awards and are famous among its patrons.
West Plains Bistro offers a unique dining experience with the décor theme oozing European-inspired charm. The wrought iron tables are adorned with stained-glass lamps and bouquets of fresh flowers, giving a vintage feel. The outdoor patio is a true gem, as it is modeled to replicate a picturesque Parisian street. West Plains Bistro also offers professional catering services, including staffing, beverages and food.
Great hamburgers, fish and chips. Also like their krounenberg beer
Excellent small restaurant. I have eaten here on a number of occasions and have always been pleased. The food is interesting, well prepared and attractively presented. Prices are not extravagant, and staff is unfailingly pleasant and courteous. My only complaint is that it is noisy (beyond energetic!) which dimishes my appreciation and renders conversation almost impossible. Unfortunate, because this is not your local pub or roadhouse where noise levels are expected to be high!
Had the three course fixed menu. Chicken entree was flavourful and the dessert selection was tempting. Service was friendly and attentive.
Since my guest is gluten intolerant, this was likely not the best choice of restaurant. There wasn't a lot of for her to choose from. No gf hamburger bun, gf pasta was available. Her choice of salad with a piece of chicken was nothing special but plentiful and good. The salmon in pastry was a change from grilled. Despite the restaurant being very busy, service was prompt, the wait staff efficient and friendly.
I was very pleased that the server was able to find out very easily what I could order without garlic. I am allergic to garlic and it is often very difficult to eat out but I had an excellent meal and was able to pick from a selection of items. The other members of my group were also very happy with their meals.
I have been here several times and it is always a great meal. Recently had dinner with a great friend from out of town and he liked it so much he is organizing for more friends to join us here in January.
We attended this restaurant for a later linch at 1:30pm, our table was almost ready as we had arrived 15 min. early. We sat at the bar, had a glass of wine, and our table was available very quickly.
We shared a poached pear and arugula salad, one person had curried mussels which was served with lovely baguette and they had ordered fries. The other person had a mushroom/ham crepe with a pommery sauce and a small salad. We had coffees and an absolutely delicious coconut cream pie.
The food was delicious, all well prepared and presented well. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Excellent as always. Server was great. Enjoyed the pasta special. The peanut butter cheesecake was soooo decadent.
A great evening.
Just don’t sit beside the front windows on a cold night. Chilly. Had to keep my jacket over my shoulders.
As always, food was excellent. Service as well. Keep up the good work. We'll be back.
We had a group of 6 on a Saturday night. Highly recommend making a reservation as it was very busy. We had an attentive waiter who looked after us but also knew to give us time to talk and socialize. Food was fantastic across the board with our group enjoying steaks, chicken and pork medallions amongst other items. Highly recommended for couples and smaller gatherings. We will come back.
Friendly, interesting menu, excellent specials and friendly staff. Looking forward to a revisit soon.
I arranged this lunch with retired work colleagues. Everyone loved the experience. My only comment was the server seemed a bit distracted. He was taking our food order before our beverage order.
Love this restaurant ! I am so lucky they are close by and nice and personable. Specials are delicious! All around great restaurant.
Love this little gem of a restaurant....the food the service even the music is perfect
Luncheon was quite noisy with many sizable groups of seniors. Pasta dish had a lot of oil, making it tasting greasy.
There were three of us at lunchtime and we had a wonderful meal. We arrived ten minutes early so having the booth was not an option as booked. However, my guests opted for a table and were pleased with the new arrangements. I know that we will be back again. Oh yes, the booking was made online. So easy.
Thanks again for your hospitality.
Thank you for wishing my mum a happy birthday and being so attentive to us!
Most pleasant dinning experience in Burlington. Perhaps some live soft jazz a few evenings would make it perfect!
Food is superb, staff is so friendly and accommodating. Quiet place for any occasion.
As always we thoroughly enjoyed our food and overall dining experience at 'the Bisto'. The wait staff are friendly, informed and personable. We happened to be there during the 'early bird' time and the three of us each chose a different entrée and agreed the food was not only delicious, but a great value too. Thank you for making my 65th Birthday with friends a wonderful occasion.
Great restaurant with great wines! They have a wonderful menu with a lot of choices.
Really enjoyed the French onion soup and bruschetta. The place is small so book early especially if you want a low level table. Service was great. They didn't rush us. Will certainly be going back.
Always an excellent choice for a great meal. We hadn’t been for a while and found the quality had not changed
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner! Gorgeous ambience, and delicious meal. Service was impeccable. Have only been for lunch before...and that too was outstanding. But I feel we have found a new Date Night restaurant 🙂
The food is always fresh, imaginative and well presented. I have been many times to this restaurant and have not been disappointed. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant is cosy and well decorated. I will return!
Amazing. Lovely meal with great service! Fun... will repeat.
Parking was an issue but overall a pleasant experience
Seats are a little hard. They do need to change their luncheon menu a little. Some items are excellent and other items need help. The menu appears extensive, but it isn't really.
Our dinner was wonderful as usual but what I would like to comment on is the gracious response to my granddaughter’s request for a vegetarian meal. Our server was most accommodating.
West Plains Bistro is a gem in Burlington, ON. The serving staff are excellent and the kitchen comes up with new and exciting specials every visit ... and the beef bourguignon is amazing. You don't want it to end. We just celebrated our 36th anniversary there but we are just as likely to go on a random Wednesday evening.
We had a great time! Pleasant service and wonderful food. Will be back soon!
Great service, food, great ambiance !
We did have to wait a bit for our food but it was well worth it. Everything was hot and cooked to perfection.
Service is always fabulous.
Mains are exceptional. The trout and schnitzel always top notch
Save room for dessert all are made in house.
Atmosphere is cozy
Great place for lunch or dinner! Pleasantly surprised. Excellent service. Looking forward to coming back in the spring/summer so I can sit on their quaint village patio!!!! I was there for lunch but will definitely be back for dinner with husband and friends.
Good food and pleasant atmosphere. Service was also good.
My only negative comment is that dinner for 4 was a whopping $396. And one of the diners doesn't drink. Admittedly we had lots of food. I would go again but be much more aware of the pricing on the menu....and the amount of food we are consuming!
Squash, sweet potato and pear soup was superb. Salmon in puff pastry with goat chees and sun dried tomatos was absolutely delicious. Wonderful service too.
It was very noisy. A table of 3 loud men beside us. I asked for a booth but ‘it was set for 3’ and we were only 2 so I was told we couldn’t have it. The food is excellent but the decor needs to be updated.
A hidden gem. Honestly, the best beef tenderloin I have ever had. The meat melted in your mouth. It is truly a hidden gem.
As I suffer from severe food allergies, they were able to accommodate any need I had. Well worth the price. Going back on Thursday!!!!
