Neat little spot, very prompt and friendly service!
My friend and I ate brunch at the White Lounge on the Sunday before New Year's Eve so it was a bit quieter than usual. Typically, brunch menus are difficult for me to navigate because of meat and eggs (I"m vegetarian with a slight egg sensitivity). However, the options at the White Lounge were fantastic! The menu was short but diverse. My friend was impressed with the eggs Benedict; he's a bit of a connessieur for that particular dish so his praise says alot. I ordered the berry crepes with brown sugar sauce and whipped cream; it was light with the right amount of sweetness for my low sugar palate. The portions were filling and appropriately-sized for the respective dishes. The staff were attentive and the ambiance was casual and classy. I am definitely going to dine hear again 🙂
Delicious food and wonderful service with friendly inviting staff. Can't wait to come back. Side note: Cauliflower wings here are some of the best I've had
Overall, the restaurant ambience is great and the interior is beautiful. The service was great too as we did not have to wait for very long. The servers and hosts were extremely helpful. Considering it was a busy holiday weekend, I would have expected it to be busy as the rest of Yaletown was very crowded but White was only about half empty.
The things that caused me to rate this restaurant below a 5 star rating was due to a few factors:
- It is extremely loud. We were on a table of 4 and I could not hear the conversations across the table.
- Water for the table was provided right away, but out of the 4 glasses, 2 of them were extremely dirty. My glass had a full lipstick stain on it and my sister had food stuck to the inside of the glass. The drinks provided afterwards were very good though (I had the Fig Thyme drink and it was delicious)
- The waiter picked up my plate and took it while I was still eating. I asked one of the other servers and they brought one for me right away.
-The food was either really good, or extremely bland. We had shared some appies and we ordered: Deep Fried Cauliflower (very good), Nachos (very good), Risotto Balls (very bland) and the Spinach/Artichoke Mac & Cheese (very bland).
We were greeted promptly and felt very welcomed, our server was very friendly. Atmosphere was great, can’t wait to go back :)
The brunch menu had about 7 items and they did not have ingredients for 2 of the items.
That left only 5 items on the menu.
It was nice and quiet and the hotess/waitress was pleasant.
We were very impressed with this lovely new restaurant. Great atmosphere, delicious food, excellent service and great staff.
It is definitely a new "gem" in Yaletown!
So happy to have a new, beautifully decorated and innovative restaurant in Yaletown!
Amazing new Yaletown spot. Comfortable, great food, and awesome service.
The service was excellent, we were made feel very welcome. And I loved the ambience of the place!
Awesome place💗and the service was excellent! Clinton was our server and he did the good job👍I will come soon!
For a weekend there were only 3 tables when we arrived which was the first indication where the night was going. We started with a few apples which I’m pretty sure it was from Costco. Charging between $15-$25 for food that wasn’t fresh was hard to stomach - literally. The wine list was minimal and had a tough time finding something we liked. Opening a restaurant, especially in Yaletown, with such low standards makes you wonder why bother.
Came in on a quiet night, service was good, our server was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the risotto balls and a garden salad.
To drink I had the sangria on special which was good.
The risotto balls came out a little undercooked, but our waitress was good about sending them back and having them make extras. The second try was much better. She also checked back right away to confirm they had been done right.
The salad was good but i felt it could use more cheese or dressing.
They also were trying out a new dessert which they gave us at no charge to try. Some kind of sponge cake with fruit. It was alright but could have used a drizzle for extra flavor.
Overall present but pretty quiet, I’m assuming they are still establishing themselves and don’t quite draw the week day crowd yet.
I would be willing to try it again in a little while.
Food was terrible. Decent atmosphere but this place has a bizarre menu with way over priced entrees ($52 for a steak, $49 halibut and $47 chicken?) along with pasta, burgers and tacos none of which were good. They need a new chef and menu.
Their cocktails and food was really good but the service was terrible. Our waitress mostly paid attention to another table (the one behind us) and kept telling us she would come soon to give our bill. It took her a really long time. The ambiance was nice and all but it somehow felt suffocating like it was a bit fake and a bit too much. The food was really good though so I sort of recommend but at the same time I don’t.
Really enjoyed our brunch in White, the decor is beautiful, the eggs Benedict was delicious, service was great - can't remember the name of the waitress but she was so friendly and genuine. Also the $4 mimosas were such good value, often cheap cocktails at brunch can be watered down but these were really good. Would definitely recommend!
Food was AMAZING cooked perfectly and quality ingredients and well executed seasoning made each dish so delicious you had to eat it all.
Cocktails were great, service was wonderful and ambiance was great for the yaletown nice dinner out vibe we were looking for on our double date.
Will definitively be back and would recommend
Well let's just say I covered myself in red wine and the staff was so nice to hold our table for my wife and I while I went back to the hotel to change. Great staff...atmosphere and food highly recommend this place.
While the decor was gorgeous, my overall experience was lacklustre all because of the service. Our waitress had zero personality and missed several opportunities to make us feel like welcomed guests instead of an inconvenience. Our reservation was at 5:15pm so we missed Happy Hour by 15 mins. There was absolutely no one else in the restaurant except for our table... so when we expressed our disappointment at missing Happy Hour, our waitress could have easily said something like: ‘I can sneak an order in on the happy hour menu for you’ but instead, she just said, ‘sorry, you missed it’ and then just stood there waiting to take our drink order. Never did she ask what our occasion was or how our day was... there was no attempt at conversation. At the end of the meal, we had to ask twice for the bill... going so far as to go inside the restaurant (we were on the patio) to try and track down our waitress.
Needless to say I was extremely disappointed with my experience at White Lounge. I was so excited to try out this beautiful new restaurant (which I had suggested to all my girlfriends) but left feeling a bit embarrassed to have recommended it.
IF the service improves, I would consider trying it again... but for now, it’s not somewhere I will recommend to any of my other friends.
Weekend brunch was epic.. the price was so affordable yet the food was better than any high end restaurant. Our waitress was excellent. Definitely going back many many more times .
New restaurant in yaletown
Give it a try
-below average tasting food
-music was WAY too loud
—had to shout to talk
—volume of a club
-service was good
-drinks were excellent
Emptiness of restaurant gives an eerie quiet creepy vibe. Hope it gets busier
We arrived for an early dinner --- hoping for some space and quiet. We took a seat outside although by the time we finished our meal the outside seating area was almost full with nobody seated on the inside.
Right off the top we experienced a service hiccup in that the happy hour display was still out front when we arrived and so we ordered per the happy hour offerings and the server took our order --- only to return in a few moments and somewhat sheepishly announce that it was no longer happy hour --- although they did partially accommodate our happy hour order.
The decor is attractive with an appealing array of coloured lights that play against the white walls and furnishings. If you ever went to the place when it was the Society Lounge (?) it was black at every turn. This new venue is the exact opposite.
My dining partner had the burger and I had a pasta. The burger was simply amazing by his report and I found my pasta to be very, very tasty as well.
The staff were very attentive but the service from the kitchen was slow --- especially since we were the only guests in the place when we arrived. It seemed to take an extraordinary amount of time for our food to come out. Although, as above, it was delicious and so perhaps yummy food takes a bit of time.
The noise level was quiet when we arrived but by the time we left, it was getting on the louder side.
By the way, I'll anticipate a name change for this venue sometime next year --- perhaps to Beige --- keeping the place as white as it is at this time might unfortunately prove to be impossible .
In the bottom line --- we will be back, and probably rather soon.
