The breakfast was. Rey good and those serving were attentive.
Good restaurant. Very nice location. The service was good and attentive but the waiter did not know that a dessert had nuts in it, not just as a garnish. This could present problems for some people.
Nice place to stay, dine and play golf in the Muskokas.
During COVID, one is never sure what to expect when travelling and often concerned about the safety of doing so. The Windermere House exercised so many precautions, that I never once felt in any kind of jeopardy. The quality of the food, the professionalism and the hospitality of the entire team from start to finish, was fantastic!
Great place to come on the fall. Great golf nearby. Nice staff and people.
Breakfast was great! Free with our reservation. Dinner menu is pricey. Not a lot of selection.
We ate outside and the view of the lake was beautiful. The food was very good. Try the vegetarian “crab cakes”, my kids even liked them. The pizza was delicious.
Very peaceful. Great view of lake. Expected more choice in food. Only burgers and salads for lunch.
Great place with a great view!
This a vacation destination. The Milford Bay trout was excellent, as was the service. We ate their 3 evenings and every meal and the service were great.
tables were dirty, food could be found in cracks on tables, dirty forks and plates, not cool in these times of COVID-19. Food otherwise was VERY tasteless, saw another table have the fish tacos they did not eat them, should have known. And their version of a Cuban sandwich is a disaster ... it was served on rye toast, overly buttered, should have been a Cuban bread loaf, did not hold together well, meat tasted off too. Other than that the wine was good, a nice bottle of La Crema. Their version of a Moscow Mule was tantamount to drinking from a garden hose. Not good either... But is was a nice view, compounded by a dirty table, come on ... you can do so so so much better.
Excellent breakfast. Our server Ashley was kind, helpful, considerate and very attentive. Had a pleasant experience enjoying our breakfast in the rain on the beautiful patio.
Delicious meal. Excellent service. Highly recommend. Just another reason that made our stay so amazing.
Food is delicious but it’s pretty over priced they were also very busy so service wasn’t amazing but it was good enough
Amazing food! Great service, nice atmosphere.
You cannot top the Veranda view! Staff extremely friendly and they do everything to properly sanitize during COVID. can’t wait to return!
Food was really good!
The double braised rib was absolutely delicious. It was out of this world.
The fish & chips were also very good. Decent portion size for the fish & chips.
We were on the patio. You couldn't ask for a better view. The hollyhocks were in full bloom & beautiful. Grounds very well maintained. Would recommend The Windermere & will return
Excellent staff! We had Cassie as our server both nights we were there. She did a fabulous job!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. I was expecting fine dining given the premium status of the hotel so was a bit disappointed. At least the cost of the dinner was in line with the average quality of the food.
Food was very good as was the Sevice from our waitress. She was very attentive and helpful. Little disappointed with the wait time between our salads and the main course (far too long) especially since the restaurant was not busy that night. Otherwise everything else was good. Great anniversary craft beer.
My wife and I had wanted to try Windermere House for dinner for several years. The food was excellent as was the ambiance. Service was very attentive and professional. We will return again next year.
Very professional, attentive staff.
Food was wonderful & the menu varied. The setting in the veranda was beautiful & serene. Service could be greatly improved. It took us 1 hr & 45,minutes to get our entre even though mentioned the wait to our server & the restaurant manager.
They should advertise that there is no sushi available on Monday and Tuesdays. We were disappointed!
Fabulous spot for a lakeside lunch on our Muskoka holiday. Excellent gourmet food and service. A cool relief from the hot sun in the inside Rosseau Grill. Highly recommend the Rosseau Salad and Milford Bay Trout.
The best view in Muskoka... wonderful food and service
Anniversary
Sushi was excellent and not horribly priced - it is Muskoka after all. Wife and daughter had pasta dishes that we fine but not exceptional for the price. Was a busy night and service a bit slow so don’t expect a quick meal but view and ambiance outstanding.
Anniversary
Birthday dinner for family member
We celebrated Canada Day at the restaurant and opted to dine outside. Beautiful lake Rosseau and grassy slopes provided great outdoor ambiance. Unfortunately, the terrace patio setup was fair but did not match the outdoors spectacular view (Verandah).
Cocktails (Old Fashioned & Cesar) were carefully prepared and had a good, precise taste.
We shared two appetizers: crispy calamari and Milford Bay Trout Pate.
The calamari was well prepared, and the pate was spectacular.
I consume lamb frequently and like it rare. They prepared Ontario lamb, and all other ingredients were local. One of the best lambs in my long history of lamb consumption.
Taste and the structure of the rarely cooked lamb were phenomenal. Dijon mixed with rosemary provided a perfect backdrop for fingerling potatoes. Our party selected a bottle of Catena Malbec since we ordered different mills. Shiraz might fit a superior lamb better but have to admit that Malbec did very good.
The chocolate-based desert ended our dinner nicely.
I would warmly recommend Windermere House as an excellent fine-dining lakeside spot.
It's become a tradition to have lunch on the veranda each year for fathers day.
The view never disappoints and the pitchers of sangria and sushi is always
wonderful.
The meal was outstanding.
The spacing between our ordering, appetizers, main course and desserts was very long. But we had lovely company and it’s a lovely spot.
Our waiter’s excuse for everything was it was his first official day, his third day on the job or he was just new. He was friendly but absent minded. And not overly attentive to details.
It’s a lovely restaurant, the food is amazing. We will be back.
The food was very good. Felt a little rushed to eat. No bread with the meal and waiter took a long time to return. The meals came quickly.
It was good - menu is a bit limited; would be great if they had some features. As it is, a bit tough to stay there for a few days and vary the entrees. Food quality is good a the service was decent. Would go back again.
We had three different options. My husband had the veggie rolls and completely enjoyed them. My mom found her caesar salad and did not enjoy the fact the lettuce came as a full piece and needed to be cut but did enjoy the taste. I had the fish tacos and unfortunatley the blackened pickerel was so blackened and dried out. I found I did not taste the fish, only the spice. I did not finish my meal. The staff was exceptional and prompt. I will return and try something else on the menu.
Great food, the only complaint is my husbands main came out about 10 -15 minutes before mine which wasn’t a problem as he ordered sushi. We started on the patio but the wasps became a problem and so the server happily moved us inside.
Food and atmosphere were great, service was exceptional. However portion sizes were very small for the prices.
Spencer our server was fantastic. Very engaging and attentive. The food was very good - very large portions. Great view from the patio - can’t beat it!
