Small communication issues, but the main thing that keeps this from 5 stars is the bread. We received bread, but was barely enough for four people and when I ordered the trio of spreads , bread was not brought out with it. Not one to eat hummus with my fingers or utensils. Asked and bread was brought out quickly.

Usually when we visit this restaurant it is in what might be considered "off hours". This time we were there at prime time, and the place was packed both inside and outdoors. Consequently, the decibel level was really high -- nearly impossible to hold a conversation at our table. While the food was at its usually high standards, the staff was clearly stressed; selections came out at odd times and one of our party had to task for the rice pilaf they had ordered twice. Very unusual for them. We will return to going at off-peak hours ;)

It was a great way to celebrate a friend's birthday in a relaxed way, with attention paid to our request for social distancing. Our hostess/server couldn't have been more helpful and attentive and she made us feel very welcome. Food was uniformly delicious, and our group ordered different menu items. Delicious food. We usually get the chef’s cigars for appetizers. Cheese is a bit salty, but still delicious. My favorite desser is the Apricot delight and my wife’s is the sutlac which is a Turkish way of making rice putting. When I bring the sutlac home, we put some cinnamon powder on it. Adds a nice touch to the flavor

We ordered lots of different dishes, with the hopes of having some to take home: the trio of spreads, two cold mezzas including dolmas (or course!), three hot mezzas, and a flatbread. Plus three desserts. Much to our amazement, we ate EVERYTHING. All wonderfully prepared, graciously served, and very, very delicious.

This was our first visit to Yayla and will will now be frequent visitors! The staff is friendly, helpful but not intrusive. The food was superb: the dolmas were absolutely the best we have ever had anywhere! One of us had the Moussaka as an entree and declared it delicious. I have the Manti and it was spectacular -- creamy, yet not cloying, with an amazing sauce that was both calming (yogurt based) and yet peppy! Rice pudding for dessert. I just cannot say enough good things about this gem. I just wish they had a sister restaurant in Annandale! Thank you, Yayla, for such a delightful experience.
