    Food was more presentation than taste, but there were a few special items not frequently found, like the chawanmushi. Service was polite, although despite having made reservation 3 days ahead, and spending a decent amount, they enforced a 1.5h max seating time, and shooed us out even before we had really finished our meal. Waiter also forgot one of the items we had ordered.

    i was very disapointed this time - i came in august 2022 it was delicious. yesterday evening was cerbad and i felt ashamed to have invited my friend there… maybe the cook changed?

    Liked the whole experience a great deal. Loved the menu variety and authenticity. Even had fresh uni!!! The only downside was the lack of a wine menu but a plus for authenticity. Will be going back soon!

    Excellente cuisine très diversifiée. Service courtois, mais malheureusement les serveurs/serveuses rencontré.es ne parlent pas français… Ici à Montréal on parle beaucoup français. L’anglais est aussi utile évidemment! Mais par respect répondre au client en français est essentiel. Mais les serveur.d’usés sont très gentils quand même….

    Not a Japanese restaurant, rather a Chinese crew serving Asian fare. Nothing is Japanese but dishes names. Crowded, noisy and worn out.

    This is a fabulous restaurant with some of the best Sushi I have eaten and I have eaten a lot. The negative was I felt like we where punished for turning up 20 minutes early and given the table next to the toilet. I had to get up 10 times to close the bathroom door during my meal.

    Considering they're the only place in town I can find who do soba, I'm glad that they do it really well! Their menu is huge and I want to try it all, but the soba is special and I come just for that.

    So glad we stumbled upon this place. The soba noodles with salmon sashimi was sooo good! We also got the sampler platter and a specialty roll that was like a double roll it had Japanese omelette on the bottom! Highly recommend

    The food is exceptional We had the miso salmon soup: small portion, tasty, cooked salmon delicious. I ate the Nori Barachirashi bowl with an egg, raw fish, salmon roe and nori. It was really delicious. The tables are a bit small and it gets busy but it’s a great place.

    The service is very fast and the staff are generally attentive and courteous. The food is very fresh and clearly made on demand. Nothing stale. This was my second visit and for the second time in two visits there was hair in the sushi. The kitchen staff should really address this.

    The food was excellent and for the amount of things we ordered, the price was ok. The only problem is that you could only stay for an hour and a half because they had other reservations. In other restaurants you can stay for two hours on busy nights.

    Favorite restaurant in Montréal. Everything is perfect, from the cute atmosphere to the perfect volume of background music, the friendly staff and last but most definitely not least, the food. My girlfriends and I have gone to the YEN a good amount of times since we discovered it last year and we are still flashed by the taste of anything we order. Every time. The fish is fresh, the chicken perfectly done, the rice is sticky and tasty. Their soy sauce is the best I have tasted. You get quite a good amount of food as well with their amazing rice bowls and a new discovery we made today was the smoked rice. Absolutely amazing. If somebody read this review before going, do yourself a favor and order the cheesecake. We dragged 8 of our friends to this restaurant and everyone agreed that they have the best cheesecake around. It manages to hit your flavor buds twice.

    We had a bowl of ramen and a poke bowl. Ingredients were fresh. Staff was friendly and prices reasonable. I’m f I were a local this would be on a list of regular places to go.
