    The service and food was AMAZING. I love the style of the space as well. And I can’t believe no one mentioned how amazing the washrooms are! I think every restaurant should have Google speakers in their washroom stalls, the music and ambience was again .. amazing!

    My party of 7 guys had a great dinner at Yokai Izakawa! Food and service were superb. Loved that we got presents with every pitcher of Sapporo we ordered. Only complaint was the set dining time limit. They basically told us we had to leave. I get it, there must be other reservations and it is a relatively small place. But, it's hard to fathom telling guests "no" when they are up for buying an expensive bottle of champagne to end the night - not even offering a table on the patio. And while I sympathize with their "timed seating" policy, my friends will probably not return just because of that.

    Amazing food! Such a week done menu. Food is consistently great. Few negatives.. the chairs are very uncomfortable with no back support. Also, it is borderline annoying and disruptive how quickly the wait staff want to remove your plate. It happens every time we eat here. If you have one bite left they may try to clear your plate or as soon as you pick up the last bite and the chopsticks are still in your hand they are trying to remove the plate. There must be some sort of weird pressure from management to keep the tables clean and clutter free. But this is so extreme. Let me eat my food in peace and use common sense and timing to decide when to clear my plate. I'll still keep coming back though. Food is amazing and staff are friendly.

    The only reason I gave this place a 4 star was bc the chairs are so uncomfortable with no back. Other than that the food and service in this place is amazing. I only wish they had more comfortable sittings.

    Pricy for what you are eating. A premium sashimi platter consisted of salmon hamachi and scallop which aside from maybe scallop I’m not sure what is premium about it. Their signature roll was way too sweet. The duck was over cooked and super thick cut which make it chewy. I don’t think it’s worth coming back after trying as I was not full even after ordering Fries Duck Angus Signature roll Sashimi platter Salmon tartare Shared between myself and a friend.

    I love the food so much. I keep coming back. There is always a dj on the weekends and can be a little loud if you’re trying to talk with whoever you go with. Service is amazing. Never a bad time at yokai.

    Amazing meal at Yokai and exceeded our expectations! Our favourites were the risotto and summer special udon carbonara but honestly everything was so tasty, had good flavour, and was well priced. Staff were friendly and upbeat. We for sure would come back again!

    So happy to have found this gem in Woodbridge. The Tapas style Japanese food was incredible! Every dish was beautifully prepared and our server Mariah was super attentive! Highly recommend!

    Excellent food! Excellent service! Excellent staff! The entire experience from beginning to end was excellent. They even read my notes regarding dietary preference and also noted what we were celebrating. Definitely returning and recommending.

    This is a beautiful small restaurant. The staff were attentive and provided excellent service. We went there for our daughters 30th Birthday. A high chair was provided for our grandson. All started well. The food and drinks started coming out. The best dish was the KOJI STEAK TARTARE (AAA Beef tenderloin, koji browned butter emulsion, asazuke, crostini) which was simple & delicious. The TOMATO AGEDASHI with STRACCIATELLA (Heirloom Tomatoes, Stracciatella, Katsuobushi, Red Onion, Togarashi Spiked Croutons & Yuzu Ginger Sesame Dressing) was disappointing. There were cherry tomato’s but not heirloom. The Stracciatella wasn’t by definition what it should be. More like a blitzed ricotta & another soft cheese. The 48HR ANGUS SHORT RIB (Sous vide short rib, pickled shiitake, red miso, nori radish) was also disappointing. In fact I’d we were blind folded I would have thought it was sous vide outside round. The meat was chewier than it should have been. As well not tender and fall apart. I sous vide a lot and know this method you need to make a Jus or gravy separately. That’s why I braise short ribs in order to get this deep flavour in gravy. The gravy offered lacked any depth except a mushroom back note. Possibly from shiitakes. The rest of the dishes were good and not of the value you pay. The last item we the cake cutting fee which I was first surprised about. I’m a retired pastry chef and always bring a cake for special occasions. I’ve never once had a cake cutting fee. A $10 fee which in the end they charged me $15. I can understand a fee for a bill under $100. We spent nearly $300 for 4 adults. That was very disappointing as well. Like I had said, the service, ambience and majority of the food we ordered was very good. The overall value for everything was there. I would have complained while there but when you’re trying to celebrate a joyful milestone, I never want to ruin the moment.

    Incredible food and drinks. Everything we ate was better than the last. Must try the 48 Hour Short Rib and the Wagyu Sliders. Unreal flavours. And the drinks were delicious, balanced, and refreshing. Can’t wait to return.

    A few of the dishes were under seasoned/bland. The 48 hr short ribs were bland and we found the vegetables served with the beef didn’t really go well with the ribs. the tako wasabi also needed more wasabi. two of the dishes were way too chewy. I’ve never eaten a tako wasabi where the octopus was cut it such large pieces. It made it difficult to chew and swallow. The assari ponzu duck dish was even worse. The fat was so tough and chewy we couldn’t even eat some of the pieces and had to spit them out. If it wasn’t for the service and upbeat atmosphere I would have give the restaurant less than three stars.

    Terrible service. Waitress took our order, came back to us 45 minutes later and asked if we wanted anything else. Said we were still waiting for all of our food. Checked her machine and said it was a machine problem when she pulled out her ordering book and realized she already took our order. Waited another 30 minutes before she asked the same thing to us again… I asked a different waiter who checked for me and did a rush order. Same thing happened to the exact table next to us. All of the customers at the bar whom appeared to know the workers got all of their food out within 10 minutes. Appears like selective service. Food was decent but the service mixed with price was not worth it. Was there to celebrate an occasion, ended up celebrating the fact that we actually finished and left.

    Delicious food and good service. We were rushed out at the end which wasn’t great since we were only 1.5 hours into our dinner and the reservation didn’t say we couldn’t stay longer, but all else was nice!
