We look forward to seeing you soon!
Under the direction of celebrated chef José Andrés and his ThinkFoodGroup team, Zaytinya offers an innovative mezze menu inspired by Turkish, Greek and Lebanese cuisines served up in a sleek and modern setting. Building on Jose’s deep knowledge of Mediterranean cooking and years of research and travel, the menu features shared small plates of authentic and innovative fare, creative cocktails, and unique Mediterranean wines, making Zaytinya one of the most exciting restaurants in Washington DC.
grilled Mediterranean octopus, marinated onions, capers, yellow split pea pure
seasonal mushrooms, golden baharat spiced tahini, warm dates, roasted walnuts
tahini, sultanas, capers, pine nuts
First time in DC we eat Mediterranean food that tastes like home !!
Great and safe experience on socially distanced patio.
During the Covid crisis we only eat outdoors and Zatinya has a wonderful outdoor space. The restaurant handles this all with care and spacing Beside the Covid precautions the food is excellent. We had a wide array of Mediterranean choices including fatoush Mediterranean meatballs fresh baked Pita and a fantastic beet and watermelon salad Great dinks and nice Greek wines by the glass
The good was tasty as usual, just didn’t like the fact that there was a limited menu.
I found the food to not have a lot of flavor, save for the hummus and the labneh. But the service was great.
Zaytinya is always good and the outside dining setup is perfect, but no where near the quality of Jaleo or China Chilcano.
It was a very nice experience! I am your loyal customer and always love to bring in my friends there!
The protocols they have implemented to address covid issues were well executed. The service was very good. Most of the dishes we ordered were very good. However the lamb dish we ordered was overcooked. The meat was tough and lacked flavor.
Good food. Due to Covid the menu was shorter but over all good precautions on safety and cleaning the place.
Very nice, with socially distanced tables and servers all wearing masks and gloves. The ceiling is very high with lots of ventilation as well so even my friend who hasn’t been out since March felt safe!
Zaytina has long been a favorite, so we were delighted to see it reopen for outdoor dining. Organized the operation well, and we felt safe.
Kitchen is still excellent. Server seemed a bit stretched to handle all the tables she was covering. The lower than usual score for service stems from it taking a while for our appetizer to arrive, only to have it followed within five minutes by the main course. Since the server takes the order and a "runner" delivers the food, it was not easy to complain or send it back. The Baba appetizer is a cold dish, so not a problem to have it accompany the skewer platter. But despite the rushed deliver, it was warm, not hot. We still loved the food, and dessert was outrageously good. Willing to forgive a lot to have one of the best restaurants in DC back in operation, but still a few bugs in the system.
Wonderful! My favorite restaurant in DC
We came here from Germantown, MD due to the recommendations and reviews but it did not fulfill our expectations. The food was a 7 but what made it so bad was the terrible service. We were constantly out of water (we were a party of 6) and I am expecting so I get more thirsty than others. I think I’m those three hours I only had three small glasses of water (between appetizers and meal) Wanted to continue ordering but the attention was not there. We were there for three hours because the server would take sooooo long to come to our table, even when we asked for something as in like water. This was what made our experience terrible, I think if our server was more on top of things our experience would of been a 10. This is the first time I don’t tip 25%!!!
Overall excellent job with safety and ambiance.
I absolutely love this restaurant. I was only slightly disappoint that some of my favorites weren't back on the menu.
I’ll preface this very quick review with: I love Chef Andres and will continue to support all he does. Clearly the server was having a bad day, it is weird times. The food was fine not as good as I remembered... again, I’ll chalk it up to current circumstances.
Nice for a Mediterranean Sunday brunch with good precautions taken to prevent covid-19 transmission.
Had a wonderful brunch on the patio! Perfect.
The food was delicious and the staff was very careful with masks and distancing. I did notice that many guests did not observe mask rules and that made me nervous about going back for foreseeable future.
This was our first time dining here and loved it! I wish we hadn't waited so long to try this place. I am gluten free/Celiac and they were very accommodating to my dietary needs. i ordered the Za'atar Margarita and it was incredible, I wish every margarita could be as good as that one. I especially loved the za'atar air! We had the Htipiti and Tzatziki, which were both great although we both liked the Htipiti best of the two. We had the Cauliflower Tiganites, which was my absolute favorite thing we ordered! Best cauliflower dish I've ever had! The Garides Me Anitho was good, but we really enjoyed the lamb. Many of the Meat Mezze were not gluten free but they were able to make the lamb Kofte style, which was one of the methods that was gluten free. This was our first dining experience inside a restaurant since the start of Covid and they made us feel very comfortable with plenty of sanitize throughout, all employees wore masks, and tables were spaced plenty apart. We really felt as though we were being taken care of -- something we have not felt dining out at other places or even with take out, which was a very nice change of pace! I can't wait until we dine there again!
Excellent. I have always loved Zaytinya and José Andrés and will continue to support them both as long as they continue what they’re doing. I trusted them to be safe during this crisis and I was not mistaken to do so. The food was excellent as always and I throughly enjoyed my time there.
Great job with social distancing. Innovative cocktails. As always, delicious food in good-sized portions. So glad they're open again!
Phenomenal food, totally worthy of bib gourmand status.
Delicious food and stellar service even if they have limited selection for now. Looking forward to their full menu to come back!
Good was okay, lacked flavor. Our server was good but he kept disappearing. Took forever to get our check because we could not find him until we asked another server for the check.
Had an excellent time in celebrating Father’s Day early.
Lunch outdoors. The staff was very helpful and safe, and the tables were far apart. Food was fabulous.
Wife birthday, of course because Covid-19 we where sat outside, all the team from manager to the lady that keeps bringing you bread all them wear face masks and gloves.
They clean your table with sanitized wipes. Overall a good experience
We had a good time! Food was fresh and it was great to dine on the patio.
Very nice place, good setting right near the metro and convenient to downtown without being overly loud or crowded, at least not when we were there. Weather was beautiful. Only downside was a gnat flying into my drink and I had to request a replacement - they seemed to think that was odd? The food, drinks/wine, and service were all top quality. We never felt rushed or impatient for anything to arrive. Highly recommend!
Service and food was outstanding.
Excellent service and food!! Cant wait to have rhe full menu back.
The watermelon and feta salad as well as the Brussels sprouts were both delicious, and the service was wonderful and very thoughtful with coronavirus concerns. While the food wasn’t outstanding, the drinks were exceptional.
Limited selection, overpriced food for amount served and flavour. Lamb kabobs were tough and chewy. Chicken youvetsi dish just did not taste good. Chicken had weird texture.
Drinks were great. Service was great. Pita and olive oil was great.
I would barely recommend. Recommendation for service, drinks, and pita/olive oil only.
Outstanding service and dining! We loved it
I've always had pleasant experiences at Zaytinya in the past, but this past weekend I had an even more impressive and positive experience considering the current climate with Covid. As a medical practitioner, the virus is something I am still very much concerned about, and Zaytinya really put my mind at ease while dining. From the outdoor setup with tables staggered far apart, the servers wearing masks and gloves and maintaining their distance, to the awesome electronic menu barcode and hand sanitizing station within the patio. The wine selection had variet and the food was delicious, healthy and flavorful - I was particularly infatuated with the cauliflower in tahini sauce. I always recommend this restaurant pre-covid, but I was truly blown away by the extra care that was taken with this specific challenge at hand. I hope they continue their meticulous protocols, and I look forward to recommending and dining here again!
My first dining experience at a restaurant in weeks, and the staff at Zatinya made sure it was a memorable one. They were scrupulous about safety and social distancing throughout the time with them, where we dined outside. The food was delicious; the service top-notch, attentive but not intrusive; we could not have asked for a better experience!
Excellent service, exceptionally good food, nice ambiance
Food was excellent but the service wasn’t the best. We had a reservation but waited 25 minutes to be seated. We ordered appetizers with a bottle of wine before dinner. They brought the appetizer but we waited quite awhile for the bread and vegetables that were supposed to accompany it. We also waited awhile on the entrees. Once the food arrived it was excellent.
