   We dined at ZIGU twice on our trip, it was so outstanding. The food and the drinks and the staff <3 Incredible experience! On our first night, our toddler was having a hard time adjusting to the new time zone, and the staff gave her a toy to brighten her evening. We appreciated that so much. They even accommodated us when we needed to make a quick exit. A few days later we brought our whole group of 10 and everyone was raving about ZIGU when we left. We loved the sweet potato salad, ZIGU and Spicy Salmon rolls, and local caught Nigiri! And the sake of course. :) thank you ZIGU!!! We will be back again!

   based on some pics i thought this was a more upscale place, but it’s more “classy casual” if you will. nothing wrong with that at all. our server was ON POINT! super informative, nice and attentive. the food was also amazing. we got the breaded ahi (forgot the name of it), vegetable tempura, spicy salmon roll, the steak sushi, o-toro and chu toro nigiri.. ALL OF IT was great! celebrated our 7 year anniversary and will definitely be back. don’t skip on this place!

   Great service from Ryosuke for this tasty late evening dinner. We were seated promptly after arriving and service was fast. We particularly enjoyed the edamame, seasoned in shoyu and crispy garlic, and the ahi cutlet, served with a kale salad and a take on tartar sauce. Honourable mention to the eggplant in the veg tempura and the spicy tuna roll.

    Booked a reservation. Seated right next to a busy washroom. Asked to take one of the many other empty tables. Told they were booked up so we couldn’t move. No reservations marked on any tables and when we were seated no reference was made to a specific table. We ended up leaving so can’t comment on the food but it was a negative interaction and disappointing to be treated as an annoyance when you’ve taken the time to book ahead.

    I’ve dined here before and enjoyed it. Unfortunately, they blew it this time. We went for my wife’s birthday and the service was so slow we ended up canceling the remaining order and even the birthday wishes they had arranged for her. The server was gracious and did what he could but waiting 30+ minutes for a dish after eating most of the meal just isn’t acceptable. Probably won’t be back.

    We had dinner to celebrate Mother’s Day. The food was great as the last time we went: Fried chicken was piping hot, and fish and poke were refreshingly cold! (You could tell they came straight from the kitchen/sushi counter.) Our server offered to take a photo of our family; he used an LED ring light, so the photo came out perfect. We much prefer the outdoor seating (covered lanai) than indoor seating, which is a bit dark.

    We went with 2 kids and 5 adults on Mothers' Day. The food was terrific for everyone. We were outdoors so the kids were fine. The staff was attentive and very friendly and helpful. The happy hour included food, so that helped the bottom line. We had tempura, various sushi, chicken karaage, potato salad, soba salad, and sake flights.

    What a surprise, a quaint yet lively restaurant. The food was excellent. We arrived 15 minutes before happy hour ended on Saturday, but was able to get our order in and the food was fantastic. The mochiko chicken had enough salt with a little kick to make it memorable. The potato salad was creamy with hints of smoke. The ginger pork was delicious. It reminded me of a cool hole-in-the-wall in one of the trendy neighborhoods of Tokyo and brought back memories of living in Japan. Fantastic, we'll be back.

    その街で、その街の物を食べれるのも旅の醍醐味の1つ。こちらのレストランではハワイ島でとれたものがたくさん食べることができます。地産地消はハワイでは難しいと言われてますが、それをできる限り可能にしているレストランで好感が持てます。個人的には蕎麦に感動しました。

    Really thought it was going to be more upscale than it was. I ordered the ZIGU roll thinking it would be good considering it was named after the restaurant but it was so bland that I could not finish it. It not only lacked flavor but also kept falling apart as I pick it up with my chop sticks. Basically upscale prices without upscale food or atmosphere. There might be other stuff on the menu that is better but I didn’t eat anything I really liked. The only redeeming feature was the wait staff. I still tipped my waiter because there is no reason to screw him over for something he can not control.

    テーブルがべとべとして大変汚かった。お客が帰ったあと、お店の人の様子を見てたら、テーブルは拭かないし、次のお客のための用意をするのからべとべとで汚いままなので、それを見てからは食べる気がしなかった。 注文した物をもってく来るのはいいが、からの食器を下げない、本当に気が付かない店員でだめだと思う。お店がつぶれないのが不思議でした。

    Went for my anniversary, the food was excellent and the server provided excellent recommendations. However, I would not recommend it for intimate special occasions as there’s were rowdy individuals that made it difficult to even carry on a normal conversation.

    We took my wife’s father here for his 80th birthday and it was perfect. He could have steak while the rest of us had sushi. Cool cocktails and local beers on tap (though I had the flight of local Saki which was 3 samplers and enjoyed them all). Our amazing server topped off the evening with a fiery display of birthday candles and ice cream for guest of honor and we got more than one good photo out of that! Lots of fun at ZIGU :)

    Found this place through a search and asked to sit outside, totally my fault, outside is great but on a cool night inside was really intimate. The staff was attentive, prices were fair and good variety on the menu. It was early on Friday, just 7pm and the place was pretty full. One thing to note, order in courses or you get all your food at once super fast, while not bad, if you’d like to relax and have a bit of a slower meal, just something to know. We will definitely go again as we’re kamaaina.

    Cute place from the street, ended up sitting in the back room, which wasn't great. Tables were sticky, but I was hopeful because sometimes the best restaurants have sticky tables! Asia, our server was awesome and attentive. Prices for sushi are on the expensive side but the quality of the fish was high. The sushi rolls are expensive for not a lot of seafood, the Zigu roll was stuffed with kale, mushrooms and egg with one piece of tuna on top. I would skip this next time.

    Service was excellent. Price was towards the high-side; 30$-50$ an entree but probably just because this is Waikiki. Food was delicious though. Good sake selection.

    Great spot for Japanese food and cocktails/drinks! They have great sake as well. The atmosphere is very cute- inside is a wine bar look with high top tables, and the outside has regular tables with a cute garden look. The outdoor area is all covered and each table has a fan so it’s nice and cool. They have a nice happy hour menu as well!
