This was our 1st time at Zocalo but we had heard great things about it. We were not disappointed. The service and food were great! Even within the brunch menu there was a wide variety of delicious options to choose from. The restaurant has a fun, casual vibe that was comfortable for our entire family. Looking forward to going back again soon!
The salsa tastes more like ketchup.... We didn’t get our drinks until our food came out. Environment was super obnoxious drunk people at like 5pm on a weekday. Host was awesome. Waiter didn’t come around much. Tacos were good.
The open air seating was perfect on a nice Spring evening. We were seated right away, and the chips and salsa arrived immediately. Happy hour specials were a great value. Three street tacos for just $8. Red sangria was also good. They have fajitas with lettuce wraps instead of flour tortillas for a gluten free option. Corn tortillas would probably have been easier but my daughter enjoyed them. Service was a little slow but very friendly.
Great food and awesome margaritas! Service was a okay, everyone was friendly just not proactive. Had to ask for napkins and silverware, salsa replenishment and second round of drinks. But, we will definitely be back!
We were a party of 15. I got there early as they were setting up the tables for our reservation. Everyone arrived early in time for happy hour appetizers which ends at 7. We all enjoyed $4 margaritas. My chicken tacos were bland but they have tasty salsa so I put that on it. Everyone had a good time the vibe was good and the weather was perfect for the open air seating. We’ll be back
Excellent food, was a little disappointed that the bottomless brunch was only on Sundays but the food was worth it!
This was the best Mexican food we've had in a long time. The guacamole prepared at the table was excellent, and there was plenty of it. The margaritas (locales) were good, as well. The complimentary salsa was smoky and had nice depth to it without being too hot. The Jalisco shrimp were outstanding; a great, smoky sauce, and plenty of shrimp. Service was excellent even though the restaurant was quite busy. It is quite noisy, so perhaps not a place for a business meal or a romantic dinner, and, since the restaurant is open air, the smoke from the patio is unpleasant. These two complaints would normally make me less inclined to revisit a restaurant, but the food was so good that they didn't bother me that much, and I will definitely be back.
We love to come here! It is simply great food, pure fun, great Margaritas ! The service is fast and friendly.
We love to people watch and Zacola is a blast! We are from out of town and usually stay in Midtown so Zocala is our go to place for fun. 5 Stars here!
I have lived in midtown for 20 years and have never gone to this place. Wow - what a gem. The food was fresh, tasty, and authentic. This is not your run of the mill Mexican place. The place is not fancy in decor, but makes up for it with fast, great service and awesome food. Try the tacos - to die for. Will be going again soon.
Food was tasty. Service was fair - we were pretty much ignored unless we flagged our server down. I was offered a taste of sangria which was nice (and loved the sangria). we didn't have an appetizer, but we did have drinks and a meal yet our entire experience lasted under 40 minutes! It was quite cold inside as it doesn't really have 4 walls. IT was also very loud. Owner or manager seemed to go around to tables but didn't stop at ours... maybe we weren't spending enough?
Chips and dip were good, margheritas were good, entrees were super cold as if they sat in the window for 15 minutes. One was cold enough as if it were in the refrigerator and wasn’t heated all the way throug.
We had a large group for a birthday and Zocalo had no trouble accommodating us. Service was unexpectedly prompt given the number of people we had and drinks, appetizers and entrees all came out at a good pace. It's not a large space, and it got very loud as the evening progressed, but it has a good vibe. My chile relleno was amazing.
Fun neighborhood spot with great food and upbeat midtown vibe.
I will return!!! We had reservations and were seated promptly upon arriving. Our waitress, Sarah, was awesome! Although it was packed, she checked on us frequently! I loved the fact that all of the Staff helped each other, never missing a beat. We ordered 2 pitchers of the Sangria swirl. No complaints! Everyone at the table loved it! We had a variety of food from the quesadillas, to tacos, fajitas, and queso. All were good. Parking was a breeze! Overall this a great place for food and a drinks.
Only a few "minimal" complaints...Zocalo is very small on the inside. I highly suggest making reservations if you can. There's only one bathroom. With drinks flowing, sometimes it was a few minutes wait to use it. Not many "fixings" come with the fajitas. Although they were good, it doesn't come with pico, cheese, etc. You must request them.
Met a girlfriend for a late dinner and drinks. The service was great and the food/drinks were delicious and affordable.
Very casual scene! Food and service was wonderful! Fun and energetic spot! The $4 margaritas were a bonus! We had fish tacos and veggie fajitas and all was great!
Brunch is great. Staff is fun. Crowd is trendy.
Definitely try the mole chicken...it is one of the best I've had!
Food was mediocre at best… waiters had no idea what to recommend because she doesn't like Mexican food. Weird experience over all would not go back
I have to say our experience was unique (in a not so good way). My wife, daughter, her fiance and I were looking for a fun lunch experience on Christmas Eve in Midtown. Through Open Table, we saw that only a handful of restaurants would be open that day. We identified Zocalo (a place we had seen but never tried) and made a reservation for 11 a.m. At 10:44 a.m. I got a call from the hostess who said there had been some type of scheduling mixup with the chef and asked if we could push the reservation to 11:30 a.m. We were happy to oblige. When we arrived, the hostess again apologized and said that there had been a miscommunication between the GM and the chef and that there was no chef to cook. Luckily we identified a restaurant in Inman that was open. My rating is skewed but when you make a reservation, make the effort to show up and can't be served, I'm not sure how else to rate it. Maybe we'll get back there sometime.
Going to a SAG event after a quick bite with friend . Really nice service as well as manager/bartender who kindly assisted drinkers in the party. Great healthy tacos guacamole and the best sweet tea around near to our event.
Stopped by on a trip to ATL from NYC. The waitress wasn't very attentive and she got our order wrong. The food was good though. It was very loud but if you're ok with that, then you'll enjoy the spot.
We went for a bachelorette party and they definitely treated us right! Aaron our server was fantastic! The frozen margaritas are AMAZING! Highly recommend! This place is awesome and in a great area of town for a fun night out!
Came on a friend’s recommendation for a bachelorette party dinner. The food was delicious (I had tacos. But the nachos, queso, and fajitas were also great according to the group!). The staff is friendly, very attentive, and fast. I definitely plan to come back. Just a fun casual place with good food and a great vibe.
I'm not one for midtown dining, so I found it surprisingly cheap food, which wasn't anything to write home about, but was definitely worth what I paid for. My girlfriend and I split a pitcher of Margueritas, which I felt was pretty expensive, but it was really, really good, and not at all stingy on the tequila, so I honestly wasn't upset. I'm a pretty generous tipper (typically 20-25%) and thought our waitress deserved 40% tip, and that should tell you all you need to know about the waitstaff. The location was great, not very far from Piedmont Park.
The food is delicious. I wouldn't get the Mimosa's again though.
Got steak tacos that were meh. Got enchiladas that were awesome. One margarita was good, more boozy than fruity. The other was a sangria swirl margarita which was not bad, but not what we ordered.
I’d eat here again, but probably only if I couldn’t get a table somewhere better.
Noisy, dirty, mediocre service, so so food. Skip this one.
We had dinner here prior to a concert, and it was great. Very casual atmosphere, good food and drinks. We didn't overdo it on food or drinks and it came to about $30/person, FYI.
It was an ok experience, I liked my food, but my guest just thought it was ok.
Our waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious! I went here two years ago because I am from out of town and just had to visit again!
Wow. Zocalo. We went for the nostalgia, having first gone in 1998. We had no idea that it has turned pretty much into a full on bar, with a noise level and degree of drunkenness at 7PM that I would have expected at 1AM. We left almost immediately without ordering.
The place has good food and the service is very good. My re-fried beans were mainly sauce and few beans this time. Always very loud in here, so be prepared.....not a date place
They called and cancelled due to issues with their kitchen, so I’m rating this on a previous experience.
Was there just to have tacos. 🤷🏿♂️ but it was a great atmosphere. Has that midtown energy.
The food was great. A little disappointed that we couldn't order from the regular menu instead of just the brunch menu. This info would have been good to know when making the reservation.
First time here. Visiting from out of town. Food was terrible—I was so sick the next day. Place was a madhouse with no control. Waitress was nice—it wasn’t her fault that there wasn’t any table or kitchen control.
Zocalo did not honor the reservation. Very rude. We did arrive 10 minutes late. We waited 10 minutes for the hostess. When we told her we had a reservation, she said that they cancel all reservations after 20 minutes. I told her that we had been waiting for her for 10 minutes. That is the policy, she said. You can wait for a table but the wait is 45 minutes. This as I am looking at the table that clearly had been set up with menus for our reservation. I told her no thanks. We went to Henry’s, had to wait a bit, but the experience was so much more pleasant. We won’t be back.
Patio is dog friendly. Guac is good. Service was a little spotty and forgetful. Convenient location.
Dinner before a concert. Great Mexican, good value, fun ambiance.
