Overall we enjoyed the afternoon tea service. The food (sandwiches, desserts and scones) were tasty and nicely presented. The tea (creamy Earl Grey) was delicious. Our primary server was very good however when the tea tray arrived, a different server presented it and she did a slip shod rushed job of describing the items on the tray. Our table was in a sunny room added on to the main dining area but the area was less than clean. The floor needed sweeping and there were crumbs, dirt and sugar spilled in spots. 60's music was playing in the adjoining dining room; somehow I had envisioned classical music or something more suited to the occasion. Our table was very wobbly but a young man was able to prop up the legs with a napkin and made it more stable. The table was also too small for the items placed on it. Everything comes at once so it did get rather crowded. It was good, one time experience. Not sure I would repeat it. Highlights were the egg salad pinwheels and the lavender tarts. And the scones were delicious.

It is not worth the cost. There is nothing really impressive about the quality of food, presentation or service. We had high hopes for this experience. A service to share would have been better as there is a lot of food and that's half the price!

Hotel ambience is very nice. Service was less than expected for location. Waiter didn’t come by often to check on our meal -over two hours for dinner. Managers weren’t around either to check on diners.

This wss the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant - waited 40 minutes for a drink after being seated. Never got to order dinner becsuse we waited so long. Our waitress was rude and clearly stressed out from being too busy. Terrible experience. 0/5

Overall it was a very nice lunch . The prices were high for the amount of food and wine received. I realize Ottawa is an expensive city but still. Our server Isabel was wonderful; very attentive and personable.

High tea was good service but slow and the hostess was confused about seating saying I booked yesterday so I could not get another table I asked for yet it sat empty the whole time I was there

The venue is absolutely beautiful but for the price I would not do this again. The food was not that great, there are much better afternoon tea or brunch experiences in the city.
First, it took the server 15 minutes to bring over the tea menu when several people who arrived after us received menus before us. Then she made note of my fish allergy but then forgot to leave the salmon crepe off my plate. They did not pipe the liver mousse onto my boyfriends canapé, we asked for a replacement one which they said they would bring and then forgot to do.
We got the nut free dessert option which I do not recommended so if you have a nut allergy I would really skip this. The non nut free desserts looked beautiful but the nut free options were a stale cupcake, over sweetened jelly and what tasted like store bought dry chocolate cake logs and dry chocolate mint cookies.
I had really high expectations for this since it was a Valentine’s present during winterlude. The price was an extra $10 because it was winterlude but we thought it would be worth it. I am thoroughly disappointed.

Great location, views of Ottawa downtown. Steak was excellent. I was a bit surprised that for Valentine’s menu chef selected to serve 1/2 chicken . I observed reactions from surrounding Tables where ladies ordered a chicken and were shocked to see a huge portion presented. I would expect something more of a fine-dining selection for Valentines table d'hote menu. The Statesman cocktail was a highlight! Overall , the visit was a great experience. Ambience was perfect !Our server was informative and friendly. Charcuterie board 4 choices of prosciutto,blue cheese,hock meat loaf,hard cheese,almonds, cranberries,chutney,olive varieties, crackers was outstanding. We started with the non alcohol coconut drink Delicious!Mains were pork belly, steak peppercorn, & regular steak. 3 of us enjoyed this culinary experience. Exceptional service knowledgeable of history of Building. Beautiful!

This was a rather disappointing Afternoon Tea. On the one hand, we had an exceptional seating - lucked out and probably got the best seat in the house (comfy lounge chairs at the front corner of the hotel overlooking Sussex and Rideau), so that was fantastic!
The service and the server were both excellent. Just LOVED the whimsical tea cups and dishes, and the lovely tiered serving trays. The waitress was seasoned, unobtrusive and so friendly!
The food, however, was bland and boring. Very very disappointing. It looked so pretty, yet was exceedingly disappointing. There are far tastier high tea offerings in Ottawa.
The price was also quite exaggerated - especially given the quality of the food. A few days prior to our reservation, we received an email from the hotel advising us that the price for the tea was being increased by $10 per person adult. I pushed back and requested that the original price we booked the tea for should be respected. In response, I was re-assured that we would be given the originally booked price and that a note would be added to our reservation.
Guess what happened? We were billed the increased the price ANYWAY and, to add insult to injury, our 4 year old's tea service was jacked up as well. What an EPIC FAIL.
$175 (before gratuities!) for two adult afternoon teas and a princess tea. Just ridiculous.
Also, a note to those considering the afternoon tea. It is not like it used to be. We found that the majority of patrons were in their late teens and early twenties and were attending in groups and sharing a tea platter amongst 2 or 3 people. So it made for a loud and less civilized afternoon tea, more along the lines of a bar feeling. That can be okay if that's what you are looking for, but if you want a traditional high tea ambience, you can't get it at Zoe's anymore.
Bottom line: overpriced, bland, but pretty. Maybe spend your $$$$ elsewhere?

My four year old daughter and myself went for high tea and had a magical experience. The staff were kind and attentive and made my daughter feel like a princess. We will be making this an annual event!

It was a fun experience for mother's birthday with kids and grandkids, a bit pricey for what you get though the food was decent overall - some of it unimpressive (the Moroccan egg salad was completely bland, the smoked salmon was a bit too heavily 'fishy', and there was a weird green and purplish-brown cookie that was just a contradictory bundle of unmatched flavours), but the prosecco was sparkly, the tea was hot and flavourful, and the scones, cream and jam were lovely. Oh and I loved the radish and goat cheese toasts, I'll be stealing that idea!

The restaurant was not well kept. There was sauce dripping down the window beside me. The dishes on the table were dirty. The service staff tried to carry to many things in an unhygienic manor and I saw them drop take out boxes on top of my plate before serving it. Will not go back and would not recommend it. Not worth the price they charge.

Service was impeccable! Food was delicious.... a great assortment of sandwiches/tart...several layers of smoked salmon between thin crepes, and my very favorite, a pulled beef on horseradish sauce tart, among others. Desert was good, the mulled wine macarons tasted good but they don't measure up to my home made ones (just saying, I'm known in our inner circle as the queen of macarons!). : - ) We were a group of 4 ladies, celebrating a 60th birthday. We all enjoyed the scones, yummy! The birthday girl got an additional, special birthday desert, that was such a nice touch. Many thanks for this memorable tea.

Food was overpriced and not worth even half what we paid - the burger was bland and seemed to have a pre-formed patty. Friends weren’t happy with their salad either. Crazy that at those prices, we ended up paying 15 bucks for some bar nuts and olives. Am happy and able to pay these prices, but expect quality. Ottawa has so much better places.
