Living in Newfoundland and Labrador, we’re blessed in having access to some of the best seafood, meat, and produce in the world. Having such a bountiful larder right on our doorsteps means we’re able to adopt a truly sustainable approach to fine dining – sourcing locally-grown ingredients and getting to know independent purveyors. We've made every effort to make dining at Raymonds a unique and rare treat. Visit us at 95 Water Street in the heart of downtown St. John’s. Our dinner menu, prepared by head chef Jeremy Charles, is inspired by rustic Atlantic Canadian cuisine. It features authentic dishes that take advantage of Newfoundland and Labrador’s rich variety of seafood, wild game, berries and vegetables, while also exploring innovative, 'haute cuisine' ingredient combinations and finishes.

Nos avons pris le menu dégustation de 7 services pour deux. Quoique la nourriture était très bonne et le service amical, le tout à pris trois heures trente ce qui est trop long selon nous qui connaissons ce type d’expérience. C’est dommage car avec un meilleur enchaînement des services notre appréciation de la soirée aurait été supérieure. Le prix des vins est un peu corsé.

Everything from a fabulous room, exquisite food and perfect service was fabulous. Knowledgeable staff walked us through a five course tasting menu with exceptions made for preferences.

Such an amazing experience! Our group of 9 adults and 2 toddlers ( 3y and 19m), couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience. We were worried that our children would feel out of place, but the staff was amazing and accommodating. They were more than welcoming to our family, and prepared a pasta and dessert, special just for the kids.. even though all the adults ordered the 7 course meal. The food and wine pairings were perfect, and the staff didn’t miss a beat. The razor clam dish was exquisite, the basil pasta was tasteful and light, both fish dishes were to die for. There is nothing bad I can say about this restaurant. My family had never felt more welcome at a restaurant, or been provided a better dining experience. 5 stars without question.

After hearing about Raymonds as the best new restaurant in Canada a number of years ago and the accolades it has received since we knew we had to give it a try when we came to St. John's and we were not disappointed. Our reservation was the day before the arrival of tropical storm Chris and we had the opportunity to get out ahead of the storm and it came down to the fact that we had a reservation at Raymonds and were staying! We were so glad we stayed as we were unanimous in the fact that it was it was the best meal we have ever had! The meal, service and atmosphere all exceeded our expectations. It was great to run across Chef Charles taking in the lunch offering at the Duck of Duckworth a few days before our reservation reinforcing the sense of community within the restaurant scene in St. John's.

I did the 7 course Chef Tasting menu with wine pairing. The food and wine were fabulous. I liked that the food is locally sourced. It was an enjoyable evening out.

The Margarita we started with was amazing! Possibly they best I have ever had

They were great with accommodating my shellfish and tree nut allergies

Upon a first trip to St. John's, Nfld, my husband and I made an advance reservation at Raymond's due to its reputation as the top restaurant in the city. Raymond's is in a lovely building and the room itself is beautifully appointed. The evening commenced with a terribly crafted cocktail (I couldn't drink mine). The menu is such that diners must choose from three tasting menus and you cannot assess what each one entails without a detailed description by the server. The servings were beautifully rendered, but were very small and, with some notable exceptions, unremarkable. The cost of everything was sky high and, given that, we felt everything should have been outstanding and it simply wasn't. In fact, we left the restaurant that night feeling like we had been ripped off by an overly ostentatious restaurant that takes itself way too seriously for what is generally coming out of the kitchen.

We had high hopes for Raymond's after seeing it profiled on the late Anthony Bourdain's "Parts Unknown." The dining room was beautiful and the service was excellent. Unfortunately, we found the dining experience somewhat disappointing. Would have loved to have the seafood tower Bourdain ate! Unfortunately they offered three very pricey tasting menus, with very limited flexibility. I tried some of my wife's clams, which were good, as was her duck. So was my pasta with lamb and veal. Her pasta, however, was a tiny portion. Really tiny. We each also had halibut, differently prepared, which was fine, but somewhat bland. Overall, the meal was fine, but underwhelming and extremely expensive. I was hoping for an opportunity to have more interesting meats, like moose. I had to get that elsewhere. I have no doubt that the chef is very talented, and I'm glad we went, but our meal missed the mark.

Really spectacular. The oysters were ice cold and accompanied by really special in-house sauces, the tartare of lamb leg and hearts was sublime. Followed by duck superbly cooked and then a rhubarb dessert to die for.

Truly excellent. Food was artfully presented with a subtle blending of flavours that highlighted the key ingredients while elevating the combined taste experience. Three of us had the five course tasting menu. Enough food to leave satisfied but you will have room for more so seriously consider the additional offerings. We shared the charcuterie plate with cocktails (also delicious was the Nor'easter and the Golden Trumpet) before starting the tasting menu. The wine pairings were exceptional. Each acted as an introduction and an enhancer of the flavours of each course. Not all were standalone wines (I am not a fan of Benjamin Bridges Nova 7 with food of any sort, but as a dessert wine paired with a sweet and tart rhubarb, meringue and white chocolate dish, it was exceptional!

I was unexptecdly a solo diner, and staff were very pleasant and attentive. Oysters and mackerel were great but best of all was the house made butter served on slabs of granite. Oh, the butter!!

We did the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing. Both the food and service were impeccable. Our waiter and sommelier were very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was fresh and beautifully prepared. The restaurant is very beautiful. We would highly recommend.

This was a standout meal. We went with the five service option and each service topped the previous service which was very hard to do. The decor and heritage building are spectacular as was the service which was like watching a well choreographed ballet! We will be back for sure. Don't miss this when you are next in St. John's.

The food was absolutely amazing and lived up to, even surpassed my expectations. My foodie BFF and I had decided Raymond's would be the perfect restaurant for our get away weekend. We chose the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairings. Every single bite had a beautiful balance of flavor and texture. The wines selected were unique and paired beautifully with the meal and the service was par excellence. The teamwork amongst the staff and the attention to detail only added to the experience. This restaurant could easily be uptight and stuffy but the staff are welcoming and the passion for their jobs shines through in everything they do.
If you are in St john's it is a restaurant you cannot miss.

Came to this restaurant for a very special occasion and all of my expectations were met with ease. All of the dining options were presented very well and any questions were answered with honesty and thoughtfulness. All the courses were very well done and an experience to enjoy. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone I know and will be sure to make it a regular option when I return to Newfoundland.

Raymond’s stood out for extremely attentive, efficient, and knowledgeable wait staff and a focus on local ingredients and subtle, yet complex, flavours. The wine pairing suggestions by the sommelier were very complimentary to the food we ordered. Highly recommend dining at Raymond’s when in St. John’s.

Disappointing.


This was my fourth time at Raymond’s and it did not live up to my prior experiences. The timing of the 5 course meal was very ‘off’ and our server was always in rush-mode which did not help. The intention was to impress my business colleagues, sadly they were decidedly unimpressed.

We all had the 7 course tasting menu. My mom, aunt and uncle are in their 70’s and it was their first time having a tasting/pairing menu so I was a little concerned they wouldn’t get it, but they were over the moon, loved it!

Although a little unfocused when checking in, the entire experience was otherwise exceptional. Table service, thoughtfulness, presentation of exceptionally well prepared and exquisitely tasting dishes. Setting in an apparently historical building with views of a working harbour. Strong recommendation to visit.

Our first experience at Raymond’s certainly did not disappoint. Everything we had was incredibly thought out and well done. I have a lot of food allergies and they were very accommodating. The food was locally sourced and there was a real pride in showcasing the flavors of Newfoundland. No wonder why Raymond’s is consistently in the top list of best restaurants in Canada.

A fantastic evening top to bottom! The food was spectacular, the wine pairing lovely and the service top notch. The pace of the meal was perfect- neither rushed nor dragging. A night to remember.

The food was delicious. Every flavour amazing. But we are from out of town and we had done lots of hiking and worked up quite an appetite. The portions on the 7 course tasting menu were quite small. Even for a tasting menu they were small. But every morsel was delicious.
