Real Seafood Company - Ann Arbor
Love the local sourcing. Food is fresh and delicious Service was great.
Went for a birthday and restaurant week. We both got the salmon restaurant week special. Mussel appetizers were good, but salmon was totally forgettable. Vegetable with the salmon was pasty and tasteless. Also unrecognizable. Salmon was the quality I would expect at a dining event, not a superior restaurant. Rice was totally bland, flavorless, and uninspired. If it wasn't for the 50% birthday discount, I would have been very upset at spending $80 on this meal.
Service was good
Great selection of seafood, excellently prepared. Our server was very knowledgeable and happy to describe and recommend popular items.
We had a great waitress and the food was really good. We go back every year for my husband's birthday. If you love seafood, you'll love Legal Seafood.
Lige that the food and kitchen are “all from scratch” and that sourcing is local. All restaurants should follow this example which is good for the customer, the restaurant, the community and the planet
Another enjoyable meal at Real Seafood. The restaurant week offerings of shrimp and salmon were well received by the family. Service was below what we have come to expect. Could be due to the promotional week. Overall pleased with our visit
Celebrated a birthday which always includes crab legs! Food was delicious as always at Real Seafood in Ann Arbor. Server seemed very challenged, struggled to open the wine, dropped items on the table and interrupted a nice dinner conversation a couple of times. Not the level of service we have had here in the past.
I had the blackened swordfish, which was overcooked and dry, and also oversalted. The salad had those supermarket tomatoes that have the texture of styrofoam. Service was nice, and the appetizer (brussel sprouts with balsamic vinegar) was good. Prices are high for food that is just so-so.
Waitress was excellent: friendly and helpful. Food was a huge disappointment, especially for the price. The salmon and asparagus that I can get from the deli counter at Whole Foods is much better than this was. This would be about what one might expect from an airline flying international in Economy Class.
The service and food were exceptional as always!
Wonderful food from a varied menu and excellent service. Highly recommended!
We went here for the first time two days ago. Our server, James, was honestly the best server we have ever had in our many many years of dining. He was so kind, offered honest suggestions, and was so very attentive during our visit. We were very impressed by the amazing food and service. And we can’t wait to come back.
The crab stuffed avocado was delicious. The calamari was tender. Our server was friendly and attentive. We had a delightful time.
The service was great and we went at a slower time so the restaurant was calm and quiet. The food came in a timely manner and they kept our drinks topped off the whole time. Overall great service!!
Excellent swordfish. Taylor was an attentive and well informed waitperson.
My entrée was wonderful, and the salad was excellent. My companion’s entree was uninspired, so that dampened our enthusiasm. Wine selections and recommended pairings were pretty good but not outstanding. They have a good birthday deal!
The waitstaff was great. However we were dissappointed to hear they were out of paella as well as lobster. The dishes we ordered we served promptly but lacked seasoning or flavor on any of 5 items.
It was nye so maybe the kitched was just having a busy night, I have always heard great things about them from others.
So happy we were able to get a last minute reservation for NYE. I know you are a seafood restaurant but my steak was one of the best I've had including the ones I had at your sister restaurant across the street that specializes in steaks.
Oysters, bread, and the Moscow Mule were good but everything else (filet and King Crab, scallops, calamari, Caesar salad) was either just ok or not good. Most food lacked seasoning. Our server Pam was one of the best parts of the evening—great service.
Really disappointed in the service and quality of the food. I had heard good things about this restaurant but they did not deliver on this occasion. It was clear management had not done their job training the wait staff and my dish, sautéed white fish, was bland and forgettable. Witnessed an unacceptable practice at the table next to us , scraping food that was presented incorrectly at the table by the wait staff unto their plates rather than taking it back to the kitchen, which was so bush league I couldn’t believe my eyes. The price of the menu deserves better at this restaurant. Too many other good eateries in the area to go back.
Have always loved Real Seafood, but in recent years, their menu has become pricier and more predictable, such that we don't go there too often. However, New Year's is a tradition. I notice with 5 folks though, we are always seated way back on the slightly elevated level, or the next one up from there. In both instances, I find the noise level too much, and haven't really enjoyed it that much. Think next year, we'll go to a slightly quieter place. Service is always good and food very reliable and tasty; wines also great.
For such a busy occasion (New Years Eve), we did not wait long...
Seafood Paella was burnt to bottom of pan chicken and sausage was dried out lobster shrimp was beyond rubbery was spiced as if it was a rest home. No flavor except for some char taste. My wife ordered the yellow lake perch was a inferior euro perch that every mom and pop restaurant passes off as fresh lake perch. Not what you would expect at a fine dining? place.$30. for a plate of iqf of crap. Individual quick frozen packed in boxes shipped to the USA. Not what I want on my plate.
Made reservations for NYE and was seated promptly. Service outstanding and meals were perfect. I ordered the "Blue Plate" and scallop/shrimp skewers were best I ever had along with crab cake and stuffed Flounder to complete the plate. My wife's dinner consisted of broiled whitefish with rice and she too agreed the portion, taste and seasonings were 5 star. Our compliments to the chef and staff for preparation and getting meals delivered to our table when hot, amidst a fairly busy evening. A great way to end our 2019 and will return again next NYE and a few times in between!
Hostess seated us at a table next to a very noisy party of 12 with kids continually up and down and running around. Would not seat us in nearby booth because ‘that server was not working yet’. SMH, poor cust service. Lots of other options in A2.
I enjoy Real Seafood. It was a lovely evening, but the waitress was rather pushy in getting us to leave at 9pm. There was no one waiting for,our table. In fact is was a slow evening, but she just kept encouraging us to leave. No fun since it was my birthday and I was enjoying my friends and their company.
An Ann Arbor staple, Real Seafood continues to dazzle. Great service and a wide selection of fresh seafood prepared perfectly makes Real Seafood a "must eat" stop. In summer, the "garage" is a perfect blend of alfresco dining while still protected from the elements.
Could not have had a better prepared or tastier seafood anywhere.
Service was great
Easy close by parking
The birthday deal is outstanding!
We had a family birthday dinner, and as usual the food and service provided at Real Seafood was outstanding.
Food was not anything other than run-of-the-mill chain restaurant. Service was good. Go somewhere else for higher quality food.
Wonderful food and service. Our waiter was very helpful with menu recommendations including wine. Had a very romantic birthday dinner with my husband.
Very nice place for our family get together. Service and food was excellent.
We came for my husbands birthday. We had an awesome time. The drinks and food were really good. This was our second time here and we will be back again. Our server was the best!!!
Numerous Gluten free options appreciated by one of us with Celiac. Wonderful variety of seafood prepared well.
We were seated in the upper area near the back. So noisy that we could not hear each other talking from across the table. Very unpleasant situation.
We had a very good meal at Real Seafood Company. Being Christmas Eve, the place was packed, so we were seated late, and our server was slow to get us our drinks (because the bar was backed up). All understandable. The food itself was very good -- swordfish in particular was cooked perfectly. This is a lively, huge place, so I don't think it's possible to feel like you'll get the most artisanal experience. Instead, you'll get friendly service, very good food, and a welcoming atmosphere. All very good things.
Real Seafood Company is an excellent seafood restaurant. A bit expensive but it is main Street Ann Arbor. The service was excellent and the wait staff knowledgeable. We went on Christmase Eve and the place was packed but we did not feel rushed and the wait staff was cool and professional. Food is outstanding. The sea bass looked perfect (she had that) I had the blue plate special excellent.
Service was exceptionally S L O W on Christmas Eve. Made it for a stressful ending to our meal before church.
