This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend, so I had dinner at Red Crown before heading Downtown for the night. Parking was easy (small lot or cheap street meters). The menu was playful and had plenty of great options. I personally enjoyed the truffle fries, chicken and apple salad, and a local draft beer! The salad was under-dressed, but I enjoyed regardless. My mom raved about the okra also. It was a Tuesday evening, but the place was quiet and had plenty of room.
The smoked beef burger was dry and lacking flavor, the bbq sauce on ribs was too sweet and too much
Great time. Loved the Brussel sprouts.
We had a great dinner at Red Crown. Our server was informative and attentive. The drinks lists seem to have something for everyone and we enjoyed our cocktails and beer. The cheese with the pretzels was amazing. We also had the burnt ends appetizer. They were more like hunks of meat than actual burnt ends I've had elsewhere, but I can't complain since they still tasted good. Our meals were very good, and the sides almost outshone the main dish.
It was kind of loud inside, especially since place wasn't packed when we were there. We thought they could use some sound deadening, but this isn't something that would keep us from coming back.
The patio looked large and comfortable, but it was so hot we ate inside. I'd like to come back and eat outside.
Today. There food was not up to my standards
Food and ambiance are good. Have eaten there before. One caveat, I don’t like when the wait staff brings the bill barely after finishing eating. It makes you feel pushed out. No coffee, another drink, dessert?
Very enjoyable evening the food was great, and the drinks were also great,
Amazing. Always amazing. We recently relocated here from NY and had been so spoiled w/ abundant options for incredible food at every corner...and here is this gem...not too far from home. There is fusion all over the menu. I’m a vegan, so there are a great many options for me. Love love the black bean burger w/ Brussels sprout side. ❤️ A new favorite for certain...
Very slow service.
Timing on meals were aweful. Two meals delivered, five minutes later the other two were delivered. One side delivered after check was presented.
Enjoyed dinner, meeting with up with friends for a social night out. The Trolley makes this destination very convenient.
Great outdoor patio and I can bring my pup! Thanks
Great pulled pork, braised greens and brussels sprouts with bacon and marcona almonds. Good service. A bit chilly inside but it was a chilly evening.
The BBQ was average at best. I feel like it could be sooo much better. Service wasnt great. The place was almost full, so I am guessing they were slightly understaffed. Tables are really close together. Just not reaching its full potential.
Tried this cute, quaint barbecue restaurant out for a casual date night! Food had good flavor. If you’re really into cornbread and classic bbq sides, this may disappoint. Mac and cheese was basic, mashed potatoes were nice and buttery, cornbread was served as the tiniest mini muffin I’ve ever seen. Cute, but not super flavorful or special. This is definitely a neighborhood/local place where people seem to know each other. It was nice to try something different.
Very nice. Good food! Good service! Good local restaurant for family.
This is a fun restaurant with a lot of atmosphere located in an old service station. Menu is bbq based. The evening we visited, we had the best service. Our server was very attentive returning often to inquire to our needs. She took the time to answer all of our questions regarding menu items providing recommendations on both drinks and food. Standout menu items were the appetizer prawns, spare ribs and the seasonal meatloaf entrée. We were disappointed with the pulled pork entrée. Being a bbq joint, this should be one of their standout items. It was not. The pulled pork was served already sauced which prevents you from trying their house sauces. It reminded me of the pulled pork you buy in the foil trays from Sams Club. Not that there's anything wrong with the Sams Club pulled pork, I just expect pulled pork from a bbq joint to be better. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience and I would definitely visit again.
Great brunch great service
Our server was great and the food was tasty, but the meat in my sandwich was lukewarm at best, which detracted from the experience. Our apps were piping hot though.
We love Red Crown. It's a great addition to the West Park area. You're almost guaranteed to run into someone you know, giving it that feel-good "Cheers" environment, but with amazing food and fun cocktails. The draft selection is great, too. Overall we give Red Crown 2 thumbs up!
It's a very nice place to eat. Just a bit pricey for everyday dinning. Service was wonderful.
Love red crown, love taking my kids there. Crayons on the table cloth! And great kid meals.
Not your usual restaurant menu. Lots of interesting entrees offered. The calamari was excellent. Our entrees were generous portions and delicious. The service was quite good and the prices were very reasonable. I will definitely be back and will bring more friends.
Great atmosphere. I had fish and chips . Fish was heavily battered . Not my thing. Fries are awesome ! Another friend had brisket. Was a little tough for brisket. Other friends had salmon and steak . Both very good. Pretzels and pimento cheese awesome ! I would go back ,but order something different.
We had a nice time for my wife's birthday. We all enjoyed our food. We had ribs, brisket, wings, and salmon. All good.
I had read some reviews that were both pro and con about Red Crown so I wasn't 100% sure this was the place to try. Overall, the experience was quite positive. The Mule drinks were terrific. The Duck Tots and Fried Pickles were delicious, and the Burnt ends and the Chicken Wings all were very good. My friend ordered the brisket and it disappeared very quickly, so I would say that was a positive. I liked the ambiance being in an old gas station. It was a bit drafty by the front windows, but after my second cocktail, I didn't notice it as much! Was it outstanding? Maybe not, but there is certainly enough solid choices on the menu and the service was welcoming enough, that I would return.
I loved this restaurant- a very fun atmosphere. The food is exceptional. The one thing I didn't like was how tight the seating is but considering it's an old gas station , the seating is expected. Looking forward to going there when we can sit outside.
We had a great time celebrating my grandfathers 92nd birthday here! Bridgette was an awesome waitress and the food was incredible. My husband got the chicken and waffles and love it. I got the grits. They were really rice and totally delicious! The bottomless mimosas were awesome too.
Great atmosphere, service and food. We will definitely be back!
Food was ok ordered the pretzel appetizer and pretzels were ice cold. Didn't make a big deal about it . I ordered baby back ribs and they came out just like they came out of the freezer. I sent those back and they warmed them but by then my wife was almost done with her brisket which also came out luke warm. Sides were all great and it's a cool place but kitchen needs some help
Service was not great. Kept having to remind waiter about everything. Ribs were very tough. Other bbq items just ok. Sides were very good though. Tables are very close together and small.
Good food service was not the greatest.
Red Crown is my favorite restaurant in the Pointes. The food is always delicious and it's a fun atmosphere. Hands down, best mac and cheese anywhere!
My mom and I came here after she saw a food story on Fox 2 highlighting your "Shrimp and Grits". I am African American and I have grown up on southern cuisine. You list this under "Southern" fare, however you served us COLD, cocktail shrimp on top of a really strange concoction of grits and red sauce. It looked and smelled disgusting. It was literally cocktail shrimp - w/ one lone shrimp with a single char mark as if it was attempted to be grilled. We obviously complained to our server who offered us a new meal. The server was clueless, however the manager agreed it was not cooked properly. Only because we were starving and already there; we both ordered new meals. I honestly think you all need to remove this from the menu - it is an embarrassing attempt at southern cuisine. Further, the Det News was also there covering a story and asked our opinion and I was honest stating that the beer, muffins, chili and Burger I ordered all more than made up for the awful "Shrimp & Grits", boasted as your specialty dish.
Our server was great! She went the extra mile to accommodate our grandson. Food was delicious. Will definitely eat here again.
This is a nice restaurant with a little bit for everyone. We were celebrating a family member's success in a choir performance, which included a few seniors. Everyone enjoyed it and mentioned that they would like to return.
I have not had a bad or even marginal experience yet! Keep up the great work and great food!
Nice and not too busy. Service was a little slow, but not terrible.
Food has been better in the past. Brisket was too tough.
Great service. Everyone enjoyed meal. 4 different dishes. Great desserts. Only problem was it was very cold near glass doors.
