The gumbo wasn’t good at all for a New Orleans restaurant. My son’s Shrimp Fettuccine was milky. However, the drinks were good.

The food was fantastic. My fillet mignon was so tender i didn't need a steak knife. The red fish was great. The gumbo was so delicious and the crab cake too. 100% great place to eat. Eric the Sous Chef came out to talk to us as we commented how wonderful everything was.

BBQ/Blue Cheese Oysters were outstanding. The house special red fish was disappointing as it was over cooked, dry, and lacked enough sauce. As well, the chocolate bread was good, but dry, overcooked.

Upon arriving at restaurant (right on Bourbon Street) we had to sidestep two homeless people fighting over a backpack. We were out on the sidewalk because ahead of us was a party of 20-25 dressed to the nines college kids out for a big group dinner. It took a while for hostess to sort out how/where to sit them but eventually we made it inside and to our table. It's a very inviting dining room. Unfortunately the food wasn't nearly as good as the reviews make it sound. We had the BBQ shrimp and BBQ Oysters. If you've ever had a chicken wing at Hooters you can pass on these 'award winning' selections at RFG. Breaded, fried proteins dunked in a Tabasco-like hot sauce then covered with blue cheese sauce. There could have been anything inside these fried bits because all you taste is the hot sauce and blue cheese. Maybe try one, but certainly not both, of these tired selections. Signature red fish entree was equally disappointing. Our plate was a bland red fish with tiny little crawfish tails spread around the plate in a confused mix of potatoes, ham and mushrooms. Lastly our romaine chopped salad was so under dressed and dry we barely touched it after failing to find any dressing lurking somewhere in the mound of green. I realize Bourbon Street is about as 'tourist trap' as it gets in America so maybe this passes for good but don't be fooled by the reviews. They're living on past reputation when maybe the kitchen was doing some daring stuff (all the newspaper reviews on the walls are from 15-20 years ago) but it's all very tired now.

Their main signature dish was what I ordered and even though it had bacon, crawfish, fish, peas, and mushrooms…it was very flavorless and not a great dish. Super bummed as I had heard good things about this place. The lobster cheesecake was great and the double chocolate bread pudding was divine but their main entree was a huge sad miss

The ambience was relaxing and exciting at the same time. Our server was great! Our food was amazing! We had the 2 COURSE $28 BRUNCH and it was wonderful. The Alligator Sausage & Seagood Gumbo was excellent and the Cajun Spiced Wood Grilled Gulf fish was amazing. These were second only to the Bourbon Street breakfast and they were all so filling we had no room for the Double Chocolate Bread Pudding, my one disappointment. We will definitely return whenever we’re back in New Orleans and highly recommended.
